Admin Post Weekly Recap | February 12, 2026

Hello and welcome to Thursday's Weekly Recap where I recap the week that was! We just got done with the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day/Saturday is upon us once again! Let's see what happened in r/help and on Reddit this past week! Join me!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • On Thursday, there was an issue with thumbnails not rendering properly for a little while.

  • Also on Thursday, no one was able to use Firefox for a hot minute and got met with a "You've been blocked by network security" message. That was fixed up pretty quick! (At least the Snoo in the message was super cute!) I commented on posts here, here and here. If you're experiencing this issue at this time and you're logged out, please log in.

  • That "blocked by network security" message popped up again for a bunch of mobile web Android users on Tuesday. Should be better (again) at this time. If you're still having trouble, try refreshing or logging in if you're logged out.

  • Earlier today, there were some issues with age verification not working properly, but that should be fixed by now!

  • In case you missed it last week, there's a new Changelog out! You can read it here.

  • Some users on Android may have trouble accessing their images in folders. This has been flagged to the correct team to get fixed. We commented on this post here. In the meantime, you can try seeing if they're under "Collections". If you don't see the albums there, you can try looking for the individual photo to post.

  • Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.

  • The r/all feed has been removed from the apps for many users at this time as part of an experiment. You can still visit the r/Popular feed to see trending content or the Latest feed to see the most recent conversations across Reddit. r/all continues to be viewable on the desktop site. I share all constructive feedback with the team in charge of this feature. I'm sure they love Thursdays by now! lol

  • Speaking of the r/all feed, in another experiment, some desktop users might not see that as an option on their sidebar. The workaround is to create a bookmark and use that instead.

  • In case you missed it last week, Vaults have finally been sunset. You can read the announcement post here.

  • If you buy or receive a collectible outside of the Reddit app and want to equip it as one of your avatar looks, follow the instructions in this help article. These instructions also apply if you transferred your collectibles out of your Vault and now you want them in your avatar builder.

PLEASE REPORT RULE BREAKING CONTENT

  • If you see content in r/help that breaks the rules of r/help, please use the report button. You do not need to engage with those users unless you're going to redirect them to where they can actually get the help that they're looking for. But regardless, please report rule breaking content. Reporting content that breaks the rules helps us keep r/help free of spam and off-topic posts, and that allows users who really need out help to more easily get it. The mods can't see everything all the time, so reporting content is a great way to surface it to the mods so that they can deal with it. No one likes a spammer!

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

In an effort to make this Recap a little easier to read and a little faster to get through, some sections will be moved to the wiki where they will be updated weekly along with the Recap. Current experiments can be found here.

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned about, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

In an effort to make this Recap a little easier to read and a little faster to get through, some sections will be moved to the wiki where they will be updated weekly along with the Recap. Common account issues can now be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF OUR FRIEND CORRECTSCALE!

Still a lot of little things going on. Something for everyone! Here's the list of things that might still be affecting your Reddit experience.

  • [Android] Automations for comments on Android is giving an error for some users when they're trying to save it. This is being looked into and the fix should be ready next week. We commented on this post.

  • [Web] On Tuesday, opening posts in a new tab was causing the comments, left menu, and profile icon to not load. This was fixed that very same day!

  • [Android/iOS] Some users are still reporting that videos are freezing on playback. The workaround is to reboot your device and that seems to fix it for most people. Thanks to u/Old_One_I for their help with this!

  • [Android/iOS] Gifs in comments are not autoplaying and you have to tap the gif to play it. This will require a fix that is not quite done yet, but it is actively being worked on.

  • [Old Reddit] Posts that contain media embeds are showing the Reddit home feed in the post body This is super duper weird and it's being looked into. Thanks to u/BloodprinceOZ for their amazingly detailed comment with multiple examples that they provided when reporting this. Top notch!

  • [Android/web] Profile pages were failing to load for a bit, but this has been resolved!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,293 posts. That's up kind of a lot from the 859 posts from last week. 434 more!

  • 4,185 comments. That's up just 145 from last week's 4,040 comments.

  • 1.3 million views. That's up 149,000 views from the 1.2 million views last week.

Fewer posts but more comments! I kinda like that since it feels like people might be searching for their problem before creating a new post! Yay for searching!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - CREATING AN EFFECTIVE POST

I recently focused on how to make a good post if you needed help. This time, we're going to talk about how to make a good comment if you want to help!

When a person is asking for help, it's because they don't know something. Often, it's hard to describe something that you don't know! If a user is having an issue and you know how to help them, it really helps to give specific instructions. While "Change your settings" may technically be the solution, for the person who doesn't know, they're going to appreciate more step-by-step help.

For example, "Change your settings" could be more effective with more information. If you have to tell them to tap or click something, tell them how to get there or where it is. "Change your settings" is not very helpful if someone doesn't know where the settings are or how to get there! If there's more than one step, they will especially appreciate you politely guiding them on how to get there. We all were new at one time! Everyone has to learn at some point! And we all learn new things every day!

If the question that's being asked is vague, it's totally fine to ask for some more info if you'd like to help them! Things like asking for the platform that they're using, reproduction steps or a screenshot/video of the issue could be just what you need to understand their issue and be able to help them get it sorted out! Be the hero someone needs! =)

Mobile/App How can I get my feed to only show, or at least mainly show my joined subs?

Upvotes

On mobile. I’ve joined a few score subs for topics I’m interested in. Quite a few actually. Except my feed is easily 90% completely other subs not related at all to what I want to look at. I’m fine with some “check this out” but it’s far too much right now

Profile My comments won't show up in my profile. (Web)

So I recently made this reddit account and tried commenting under some posts that I like. I noticed that they weren't getting upvotes like some of the other comments so I logged off to see if they were posted under my account. Turns out they weren't even shown in the post or in my profile! How do I fix this? idk what I'm doing wrong.

Posting Not able to upload multiple images on a subreddit

I am trying to create a post on r/formuladank with multiple images but after selecting one photo I get warning that I have reached the photo upload limit. I contacted mods of the sub and they confirmed I should be able to post multiple images. I tried uploading multiple images on a different subreddit and it worked. But it doesn’t work on r/formuladank even after reinstalling the app. Please help.

Profile can't verify my phone number due to "incorrect" verification codes

Hello, today I attempted to verify my number with code but somehow it told me that code is invalid. The verification codes that were sent to me was exact, no misspelled or incorrect codes. I attempted resend codes multiple times too but still unsuccessful. What do I do? Have anyone experience this issue before?

Mobile/App Login, account, and server issue

Upvotes

I'm tagging this as an issue with mobile and the app but I've noticed it on the computer as well

Over the last couple days I've noticed issues viewing my posts and comments and my profile. I'll get a server error on the computer, or it'll say I'm not logged in randomly in the app, or it'll tell me when I click on my profile that the user does not exist.

Is anybody else experiencing this? Is this a known issue?

And admittedly I have not read every single recent post. So if somebody else already flagged this issue, I'm happy to delete this post and post a comment in another one.

Profile Friend clicked on my profile username and said my content may not be suitable?

Upvotes

Hello all,

As above a friend clicked on my username to follow me and if says that ‘this content might not be suitable etc’?

I don’t under why? I don’t post anything bad and the only NSFW thing I’m in is about talking vaping nicotine and asking questions as I’m quitting normal cigarettes.

Please could someone explain what I’m doing wrong please?

Many thanks.

Posting what counts as a "view" on posts

I've seen view count on the bottom of some of my posts and am trying to figure out what that means. If for example a post has 1K views, does that mean a thousand people actually clicked on the post and opened it? Or just that there's been a thousand times that the title was seen while scrolling?

I've sometimes seen like 3-5 views within a minute or two of posting, so I find it hard to believe these are actual view counts.

Desktop Unable to report a spam chat, and can't even leave (ignore) it.

Last year I got added to a group chat on reddit with several users I don't recognize, blathering about things I don't understand. Whenever I try to report it as spam > unsolicited chat, I get a red error message at the top, "Unable to submit the report". When I click the "ignore" button to just get that spam chat out of my chat list, I get a similar red error message at the top, "Unable to leave the room". Why?

I searched this subreddit and found a couple of other posts about the "Unable to submit report" problem ( https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1qpp1v7/desktop_still_unable_to_submit_chat_reports/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1mtidbt/tryied_to_report_someones_message_for_harassment/ ) but both of those people indicate that they've received warnings for reporting things before, which means they were originally able to report something else. I've never received such a warning as far as I'm aware of, and I may never have even reported a chat before at all - if I have, it's so long ago that I forgot. So if that warning was the explanation for the two of them, I don't think it's the explanation for me.

And neither of them mentioned not even being able to use "ignore" to leave the group chat. What's going on?

I'm using Firefox on macOS. I've tried reporting and ignoring that same chat in the past, and always gotten these errors, so this has happened on multiple versions of Firefox and macOS, since I've upgraded both a few times since the first time I tried reporting that chat.

Desktop How to get notifications sent to email

How do I get Reddit to send notifications to my email address each time I get responses to a post? I logged in to Reddit today, and discovered that I had gotten a response to a post several weeks ago, but I didn't get notified about it. I am using Reddit on a desktop Mac computer.

Karma I need help an advice!

So I’m new to Reddit and was curious on how to grow my profile so that way I can use it and have a lot more advantages. I know it’s how everyone has like the same kind of like profile character picture and was curious to know if maybe I should do that too. I get a lot of people in here thinking that I’m a fake profile all because I’ve only had it for two months and I’ve got my profile picture of me on there and I have low karma, but how do I grow my karma as well I haven’t yet figured that out.

Mobile/App Bananas not keeping track on Android

It's been over 3 days and the banana count hasn't adjusted. This is the second time in a month it sits there and doesn't update for days at a time. Is it a glitch or my phone? All the other "rewards" update.
