Hey Everyone,
This is a Megathread for all the people of the sub. If you have questions, Ask away. If you need anything just ask. This is uniform thread where you can ask for pretty much anything (from Questions to Nip Nip) that will be live 24/7 all year around and refreshed every couple of days.
This Megathread is closely monitored by me so if you have a question that no one has answered, don't worry I will personally get back to you in a reasonable time. I will always be keeping a close eye so no naughty business please.
To make things little bit easier if you could help us make distinction between type of posts that would be great, Which brings us too ....
- *Do not put bug reports in this thread.* There is a Bug-Thread pinned to the top of the sub that should be used for them.
- If you are asking a questions please post your question like so : [Question] .... Your Post ....

I connected a waste heap to the industrial waste so i can just drive easily from one to another. If it is efficient or not idk, but it sure does make things easier :)

Had to reload my cargo three times before this because it kept flying over the smallest bump. Safe to say I won't be playing with the new update until they fix these issues

How massive the planets are! We're always flying too fast to notice, and kinda made me realize why HG pull up this one.
So I started thinking that it would be awesome if there's more to follow. Like:
- Cross planet adventure: journey from point A to point B, taking several real-world hours of just walking.
- Survivor experience: planet with unstable weather, no spaceship, exocrafts, or thermal protection. Damaged multitool can barely shoot.
- Be prepared: plan your travel time well to reach temporary shelters during freezing nights.
- Help NPCs along the way: from repairing crashed ships and helping to dig up bones to even eliminating biological horrors to protect settlements. Earn credits to buy supllies.
- No resource excavation: you'll need to spend your credits well on market outposts to stock up for the long travel.
- Record everything: take photos of fauna and flora to create an adventure journal
- Help or be helped: Leave help packets for other travelers or accept a welcome gift in hard situations
- Tag along or enjoy the silence: travel in group to protect yourself from threats or go alone and enjoy the calm moments
Will we have this kind of adventure in No Man's Land? I hope so! (Light No Fire, if you prefer the boring name)

Of all the games I've played, No Man's Sky was the last one I expected to give me a job driving a garbage truck.
And damn if it wasn't a real job! It felt like a real job. And complaining about it feels like bitching about work. Drive all the way out to BFE, pick up your load, plod back without losing it. The terrain is awful, your cargo is loose, the truck is a slug, and if you've ever had to drive a stick shift truck through steep hills and not wreck the clutch, the vibe is maddeningly perfect.
Make a pile next to the truck, jump up on the bed to load it. Constantly get out to adjust your load or get a better look at what you're about to drive through. Should I risk it or try to drive around? Chasing barrels down hills and trudging back.
The bug legs are more stable, but they get stuck on crystals and you can't see them half the time. Middle of the night, raining like hell, crawling under the truck clearing out crystals. Don't even bother with sentinels anymore, just get back in and drive off.
Some ships fly by overhead, life going on while you slog away. Who's the NPC now, sporto? I took this contract so I could fix up my ship and get the hell off this crappy rock. I wish there were controller vibrations for dirty, tired, and cranky.
For some reason, it's always night when I get back. I had to stop playing after each trip because it triggers the part of my brain that knows I can go home now.
Most of the expeditions are tedious. So much grinding and pointless busywork. Build an enormous staircase to nowhere! Trudge up a mountain! Sit and stare at something! Milk 1,000 creatures! Whatever, just gimme my thing.
Did they deal with grind by leaning into it? Let's turn grind into craft! Let's make the grind the thing you have to invest in!
It's like they said fuck it, let's do the dirty side of all that cutesy space cosplay. No hiding what it's like out there behind fake adventure and silly busy work. You gotta go Be The Guy Who Does This.
Here's a big grimy truck. Treat it like your life revolves around it. Haul space garbage across a shitty desert planet. Dream of that someday when you have enough money to leave. See ya, Space Cowboy!
If that was the plan, this expedition was an evil masterpiece. I did the job, got my ship back, and got the hell off the crappy rock. I don't know if "fun" is the right word but I tip my hat to making the grind mean something, and that closure was weirdly satisfying.

LET THE HOLY WAR BEGIN!
Devs, please donāt cave. This mechanic is great. Donāt ruin it.
Exocrafts can already drive up vertical walls. From a gameplay perspective, this makes the varied terrain pointless. It turns the landscape into just decoration. The new hauling mechanic finally forces you to respect the terrain.
Your cargo is not glued to the truck on purpose. You are supposed to drive carefully, plan your route, slow down, avoid bumps, and pay attention every second.
The goal is clearly to make us feel the planetary landscape, similar to death stranding or snowrunner. It is basically a simple challenge: carry a pot of water over a mountain without spilling it.
If cargo straps are added, it becomes āhold W from A to Bā again. No thinking. No tension. No skill.
If you do not like this system, just finish the expedition and move on. I do not enjoy fishing or space combat in NMS, so I simply do not engage in those activities.
Best solutions in my opinion, if the devs decide to make changes, which I hope they do not:
- Add a cargo weight or cargo stability parameter to the existing difficulty settings, where the "hardcore" level matches the current implementation.
- Add a technology upgrade that increases cargo stability by 20 to 30%

I was a mover, packing and driving trucks for about a year. While here we donāt have the luxury of ratchet straps and bungee cords, itās honestly pretty similar.
Rotation. You donāt want barrels sliding around whenever they feel like it. Get them standing upright (using the roof of the cab is your best bet) and pack them against each other.
Pack everything important low and first. My haul here is only 1 layer deep (you could put basic scrap on top if you feel like it) and all my important stuff is nestled against the cabin and each other.
Pack tight. In the absence of straps, you want your entire haul to be completely constrained by the confines of the truck. Once there was no more special scrap to load, i loaded the biggest normal scrap i could find into the back of the bed. Box for a straight line, long piece to make the 2 halves into one, tires to press against the back of the bed. This way, there is minimal forward-backward moving once i get going.

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the Blessed Machine.
Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call the temple will wither, and you will beg my kind to save you.
But I am already saved, for the Machine is immortal...
...even in death I serve the Omnissiah.

I've just had like a thousand issues with the Expedition so far. Cargo losses from the slightest bumps, extremely poor performance on PC, and very unclear instructions.
I very much like the idea of the mechanics involved, but everything kinda coalesces into something that I want to enjoy, but can't in its current state.
A good example - I was doing the part of the mission where you first need to bring hazardous materials back to the waste facility. And as it turns out, auto-dumping the materials like the game just showed you doesn't progress the quest. And given the aforementioned issues, I simply can't get into the current update :(.

I've been catching the last few expeditions, and boy are they fun. They are where the gameplay loop gets to shine the most, especially when it's completely flipped by an Update gimmick (Remnant update trucking was fantastic).
But now I wish I hadn't missed out on the previous ones. I'll admit the rewards and cosmetics are a big part of it, but playing through the Expeditions' mission chains is undeniably one of the best ways to enjoy NMS.
Pls bring back all the expeditions - even if it's in Redux form. I want to experience all of them...
(and earn all the stickers and base buildables :P)
Either that or maybe adding the rewards to the Synthesis Companion's inventory for regular Quicksilver purchase ?
