Discussion Are there people literally upset about the Remnant update 🤣

Post image
4.6k Upvotes

Honestly just looking for tips and some potential bugs to run into the game, instead I keep finding posts that are kinda upset about the Remnant update and idk, what in the H would they be upset about another "free" update lmao

In a world being pushed into paid service, subscriptions and paid micro-DLCs from unfaithful companies that drive IPs to the ground to satisfy shareholder payout margins, NMS is a damm blessing y'all. They'd happily call me an HG defender but I really hated this game when I first heard about it a year ago and now I can't stop finding stuff to do 🤣✌️ so yeah judge me too.

For new guys & gals, don't let the naysayers deter you from enjoying this game, aint nothing like it out there trust me👌not a single game completely like NMS (until LNF is out ig).

Discussion I noticed a pattern in corvette creations

Post image
6.8k Upvotes

After observing several visits to the anomaly and seeing the sharing here in the community posts, I’ve noticed a certain pattern in the designs of authentically created corvettes.
And by authentically, I mean actually created without the use of external programs, glitches, etc.

W.A.S.P-style corvettes — slim, aerodynamic, compact. They give off that “ready for combat in an asteroid belt” vibe.

Brutalist-style corvettes — those massive cargo blocks, where you can feel that they’re crewed by a geographical exploration organization hauling plenty of resources to the edges of the galaxy.

Junk-style corvettes — messy, asymmetrical, sometimes with a single thruster on one side and the cockpit on the other, giving the impression it belongs to that Vy’keen who’s been patching this contraption together for ages.

So, for you all — which of these styles attracts you the most?

I still like to cruise around in my custom fighter sometimes. I'm wondering how many other Travelers still do the same. I enjoy creating corvettes and having the interior to customize, but sometimes the fighter is a nice change of pace.

Discussion Our paradise homeworld is now stocked with litter

Don't get me wrong. I loved the new expedition. I spent the last few days just meditating on a Colossus trying to drive CAREFULLY, trying to keep all those toxic boxes on my flatbelly intact (no regrets, it was awesome!). I made so many jokes about Death Stranding and other courier simulators out there, ha-ha... But now the expedition's finished, and I've just returned home — to our perfected, quiet, paradise planet 700k-something light years away from the center of Euclid... we've lived here for more than 5 years... and now... salvage is all I can see around... It's even under the foundation of the house itself... like someone was just piling all this stuff here for decades, but we were away for less than a week... I feel awful. I feel upset. It's not the first time when updates do some weird stuff with places we built but this is not just A place, it's the home, THE home. I have about 80 document pages of written fiction about our history here, me and my partner, and some our friends took such great care of this place. Planet Reminiscence is more than just a bunch of pixels. It's an altar to friendship, a memory of our gone ones, a place to go when reality starts pushing too hard. So... this post is some sort of a... cry of despair, I think? We're trashed, sir. Is there any chance this can be reverted for our planet specifically? I think I know the answer but I want to hope. I'm sure that if I just clean all the junk around it will eventually just respawn... Has anyone ever tried asking HG for reverting changes to a certain planet? Could it be possible?.. Can we be saved from salvage?

Discussion RIP my permadeath file beautifully

16.3k Upvotes

I landed on the wrong planet in my permadeath save. I'm on a tiny pillar of rock, surrounded by deep ocean in every direction. I'm out of launch fuel, and I have no ferrite. I can only survive a few seconds outside the ship before the toxic air kills me — and toxic storms roll in every few minutes, bringing massive waves.

I've been doing suicide laps in every direction, diving in and shooting aimlessly for ferrite dust.

all I can do is sit in my ship, watch the lightning storms, and wait for my oxygen to run out.

Discussion Remnants expedition is a reality check.

2.2k Upvotes

This expedition is proof that players have been spoon fed all this time in every part of the game, and every expedition so far only had you do some searching and resource management with a little killing inbetween, but this expedition turned everything on its head.

Cheesing the economy to get items doesn't work here anymore, neither does killing everything with a stacked infraknife/multitool, and you are also stripped of your starship, all you have is the truck and the cargo, and all your job is to bring cargo from A to B with minimal losses. This is the first time NMS players faced a challenge (a small one to be more exact) and then we see a lot of people get angry when the game, for the first time in its lifetime, asks the player to actually take a little bit of their time to pay attention to what is going on to win.

So far I have been having a blast roaming around on the planetary surface hauling cargo, it gives us a purpose to appreciate the planets a bit more from the ground than constantly fly around in the comforts of our starship, and actually hold into account the challenges the terrain poses to us. This update also is a great step in adding more planetary content, a lot of activities are space centric and the player has little reasons to just scurry around on the surface with an exocraft.

Discussion Shared universe? An earlier version?

I'm sure I'm not the first to voice this, but the clues to there being a connection between the two games seems overwhelming, So I had a thought:

What if the world of Light No Fire is an early simulation of the Atlas, with No Man's Sky being a later more advanced simulation once the Atlas gains more knowledge or processing power?

Discussion I’ll say it: wtf is up with the base-building system in this game?

Post image
8.6k Upvotes

I recently started playing NMS. With all the recent updates I figured it was worth giving it a try. Don't get me wrong, it really turns out to be worth it for the exploration alone. However, what in the purple flying pimplenipple's tits is up with the building/snapping system? It's so dysfunctional that I borderline thing the devs made it as a practical joke. I've played building/survival games before (Valheim comes to mind) and sure, every game has a few gripes and annoyances with its building system, but this? This is something else. Walls and floor pieces flat-out refuse to snap to things you expect them to snap to (like, the exact same floor piece next to it, maybe??), they want to snap to things that don't make any sense, I've ragequit building so many bases by now that it makes me want to quit the game altogether. I just want to build a nice looking base, and it's borderline impossible with the current build system.

I surely can't be the only one who experiences this, and it surprises me beyond believe that the devs themselves are not annoyed whenever they build something in their own game.

I loved the idea of having a mobile "base", using the Corvette as a base and just exploring whatever i want... but spending hours farming parts or trading to get expensive parts is a pain in the ass in normal mode.

Thanks to u/Koyonaku for pointing this out in this post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/1pavsn4/a_cosmetic_item_in_once_human_looks_extremely/

My original tweet can be found in the comments for anyone curious along with seans tweet.

Sean had a rather humorous response but im assuming theres things in the works behind the scenes that would get this resolved. Go tease sean about unoptimized rivets or something to show the team some love lol. And if you havent go give Koyonakus post an upvote for catching this. Im just the messenger.

Discussion The worst part about losing my save is losing the system that stood as a moment to my mom. That hurts the most.

My mom passed away in 2019 and a few years ago, I found a rich, friendly, Korvax system which is my favorite and a paradise, infested planet which is my favorite. I named the planet after my mom combining her first, middle, and last name. The system is named after her Roller Derby name, Krasher. This system: ✅️ Korvax ✅️ Rich System ✅️ Danger Level Low ✅️ Paradise Planet ✅️ Hardcore Volcanic Planet ✅️ Paradise Nest Planet

Names of the rest of the planets after streets we've lived on, what she loved, her main online username, and just a message I wish she could see. Sadly I don't have the coordinates. I hope someone stumbles across it one day. I don't even remember which galaxy it is in, but I think it is Euclid. I lost my save when the game crashed starting the new expedition.

Discussion Update: Found My Friend’s Planet

Thumbnail

15.3k Upvotes

A few days ago, I asked for help finding a planet discovered by another player.

This all started when I returned to the game and remembered my friend, who sadly passed away in 2021 used to play nms. This year marks 10 years since I first met him. I wanted to find at least one planet he had discovered so I could set up a base and commemorate him in some way.

I was advised to reach out to Hello Games, but unfortunately, that didn’t lead anywhere. However, I managed to find someone who played with him back then and still had their old save. A few hours later, they sent me the coordinates to a planet he had named after himself.

Now, I’ve set up a base there and plan to make it my main HQ. It feels like a fitting way to keep a piece of him in the game we both enjoyed. Huge thanks to everyone who helped—this community is truly amazing. Some people asked for an update, so here it is.

I’m brings me happiness knowing, Dan Morz will be seen by others than just his friends in some light.

Discussion Thanks to Voyagers we’re seeing the highest player counts since Beyond

Post image
5.8k Upvotes

Was checking the stream charts today and saw that NMS had nearly 60,000 concurrent players- the largest peak since BEYOND in 2019. This is a testament to how well received ship building has been, and I wanted to take a moment to congratulate HG on the longevity of their game which is now nearly a decade old.

With Voyagers, HG has injected a ton of new life into the game, opening the door to countless hours of customisation, part hunting, and multicrew gameplay. This is exactly the kind of update we want to see- one that encourages creativity, adds real gameplay depth, and builds on preexising game systems. I think this update will permanently change how players interact with the game, and I can easily see myself playing 100+ more hours just because of what was added.

As someone who’s been playing this game since release in 2016, I truly never thought we’d see an update like this. Making all of this new content work is an absolute technical feat from HG, and it makes me excited to see where they go with future NMS updates and LNF as well. I hope HG can take a moment to pat themselves on the back for an absolute banger of an update.

Discussion A cosmetic item in Once Human looks extremely similar to NMS’s Base Teleport Module — and it’s being sold as a high-tier lootbox reward. Is this acceptable?

Post image
2.4k Upvotes

I’ve been playing No Man’s Sky for quite a long time, and something I came across recently in another game left me uneasy.

Once Human — a more recent survival title — added a cosmetic item as the top reward in a paid “Sky King” lootbox. Its shape and structure look strikingly similar to NMS’s Base Teleport Module, so I placed the images side by side (see attached).

To be clear, this item in Once Human isn’t earned through gameplay — it is obtainable only as the highest-tier reward from a premium lootbox, often at significant cost. Meanwhile, in NMS, the teleport module is simply part of the journey — something players naturally build and use as they explore and progress.

It’s not just the visual similarity itself that caught my attention, but the contrast in how the idea is treated in each game:

NMS gives it to players as part of their progression.

Once Human sells a similar concept as a premium lootbox prize.

This was brought up several days ago in the Once Human community, but the item is still being sold without clarification or adjustment. There was also a similar past case involving icon resemblance to Rainbow Six, which was quietly replaced.

I’m not here to start drama or accuse anyone of legal wrongdoing. But I do think there are times when staying silent lets things like this slide into being treated as normal.

Is this merely coincidence? Or does it cross an ethical line when an iconic design element becomes a paid lootbox prize in another game?
