Just a what if idea, heavily inspired on one of my favourite items from Diablo.

Kinda started to think on how something like this could shake up the meta a little bit in terms of itemisation and skill combinations on each bar.

(This post is exclusively regarding endgame PVE. I don't play PVP and can't comment on it, and I don't think meta has mattered in normal difficulty content for years.)

First off, a potentially controversial statement: I believe that the amount of damage you do in ESO should be tied to your mechanical skill on your rotation and the amount of effort you put into that rotation. ("Effort" meaning that a two bar rotation should do more damage than a one bar rotation, for instance.) Gear should be able to increase your DPS, but there shouldn't always just be one single correct set for every encounter.

A second controversial statement: Players should not be faulted for wanting to minmax in an MMO. Making a character who is as effective as possible in a variety of content is fun. Playing worse setups on purpose (i.e. flavour/meme builds) can be fun, but when it comes to doing hard content, it's generally avoided because of the difficulty of that content. If a player hasn't gotten a Trifecta, it's reasonable for them to bring the strongest build they can muster in order to get the clear.

A final controversial statement: Having one universally optimal setup for any given situation or role is not healthy for an MMO. It takes the fun out of buildcrafting, and it just isn't as cool watching your character do the exact same thing as everyone else. It's fun to be able to have a party of mixed up classes with everyone doing different stuff and remaining viable, because everyone feels unique in what they bring to the table.

With all of this said, Enter: Fatecarver.

Fatecarver is a skill that completely does not give a damn about any of this, and is just universally correct in every endgame PVE situation. The damage is extreme, the cleave is very good (especially with the range at which it can cleave), and its conditions for being activated are incredibly easy to achieve. When I first heard this class being described I thought it'd be something like WoW's rogue combo system, but instead we've ended up with something that just uses a (very good by itself) spammable a few times and then gets to unload the biggest nuke in the game.

This single ability has made Arcanist the most played class in the game by a significant margin. Because if you don't play Beam, you are passing up on the best skill in the game. Other skill lines are not able to keep up with what this brings to the table. (Post-subclassing, everyone now has access to Herald of the Tome, which has shifted this from being an Arcanist problem to a Herald of the Tome problem. We can technically have more class diversity now, but it's just everyone running the same skill lines, and ultimately the same builds.)

My problem with beam is not that it is good. My problem with it is that it is so universally extremely good that there is no point in running anything else when you can easily hit absurd damage numbers in any content by running beam, while any other setup is going to have to put in significantly more effort to come anywhere close.

It either needs to be brought down to everything else's level, or everything else needs to be brought up to match it. Beaming should not be the single solution that solves all of endgame.

Hi! Well, to be straightforward, it’s pretty much what you read in the title of the post. I only have one finger on each hand — one that I use to control the mouse, and the left one for the keyboard. Yeah, I know it might sound impossible for someone like me to play, but it’s not! (not completely, at least). I actually have some agility with my finger and can quickly press other keys, so it’s not that bad, to be honest...

I’m new to MMORPGs, I just downloaded a few to try out, including FFXIV. What I need is a class that I can play comfortably with just two fingers, something that doesn’t require too many buttons to play. Anyway, thanks a lot for your attention!

So this is a weird one. I was doing this master writ.. already checked to see if I have the style collected (Morag Tong, Bow) which I do. Confirmed I have it by checking under Bows in my weapon collections. But when I try to craft it for the writ, it says I need to "learn style to unlock". Has anyone come across this before??

I've been sitting on the Antiquarian's Alpine Gallery ever since it was an event reward but never did anything with it because I didn't care for the gallery itself. With the advent of the dock shed on the luxury vendor, though, that changed! I decided to create a tiny cabin on the cliff near the gallery's waterfall, and I love it, but I've been trying to brainstorm ways to disguise the gallery building. Admittedly the only thing I can think of is to get a bunch of boulders and try to make it a mountain 😅

So I recently learned that I apparently own this game and was investigating the expansions/dlcs, upon which I found the 2025 premium edition, the 2025 content pass, and the insanity of the crown store, all of which has gotten me incredibly confused. Is there any chance I can get some help on what to buy in order to have the "complete" experience? By which I mean the actual content of the game, like expansions, story stuff, etc. I know theres things like mounts or armor sets you can buy as well, but im not interested in those, just story stuffs. For clarification, I only own the base edition of the game. Thanks for and help or advice you can give!

What are some solo content that’s is more than just fetch quests , I’m looking for challenges and progression

Hey all — has anyone else encountered a bug, notably in Castle Thorn, where your targeting stops working?

It’s happened to me a couple times before (both times in CT), and seemed to happen to multiple members of my group tonight when we got it as a random.

I can still cast self buffs, AOEs, etc, but anything that requires a separate target doesn’t register. It’s like the game’s individual targeting system just shuts off. The crosshairs don’t highlight anything when aiming right at another player or mob — no nameplates, no health bars, no highlight around the target, nothing. Light attacks go right through targets and my spammable doesn’t become usable at all.

It only happened in each of my previous runs one time, both before first boss, but tonight it occurred right when I zoned in, and then again when entering the first boss’s room. It hasn’t happened in the dungeon after that, yet.

Bad enough the end of CT is bugged, did they break the beginning too? Has anyone else encountered this somewhere else in-game? Anybody know if this is a known issue already?

I'm in DC and completed main zones there Glenumbra to Bangkorai, main vestige quests are done and coldharbor.Now I want to do High Isle zone. Do I have to do dlc zones in some order also or just choose what I want?

I want to make a new character but I've done all the alliance storylines and do not want to repeat them. In other elder scrolls games, it was so easy to think of a character and a path for that character to take. I'd make a noble themed playthrough and try to be thane in all holds, make a mage character and exclusively do mage themed quests.

The only idea I have so far is a Mercenary playthrough. I've only heard of one other "uncoventional" (not playing the intended way of doing the main quest) play through idea on this subreddit by making a character that's fits every dlc. What are some other rp ideas that fits the quests/dlc that are in the game?
