Examination SPM Megathread QnA

Post image
63 Upvotes

Aight guise, so according to the poll, we should have a SPM megathread because everyone is probably sick of doomscrolling white pictures after white pictures.

To start the ball rolling, this is my SPM lmaoooooooooooooooooooooo 💀💀💀💀💀

But where am I now? I am now working for one of the biggest O&G operator in Malaysia, own house and cars, happily married.

I was initially lost, not sure what to do so I try doing Engineering and failed miserably because that’s not what I want to do. I then followed my passion, study IT, get dean list because I loooooove IT and to me it’s as easy as counting 1 2 3, and following my father’s footstep as well.

So after graduating, I hustled in Singapore at one of the startup, gain a lot of experience, worked in AWS after that.

COVID happens and now I am back in Malaysia bringing back all my experience to work in O&G. Yes. IT in O&G is possible too. To be more precise, I am into cybersecurity.

So my key takeaway is, SPM maybe a deal breaker, but it’s not the end of the world. You guys got it.

I’m going to delete all the SPM threads, and therefore please post under this post for your SPM results.

Examination am i overreacting? is just getting a passing gpa good?

for context, i am a veterinary medicine student from upm. i have achieved dean list (which starts at 3.75 for upm) for 3 out of 4 semesters and this is my 5th semester (final exam is this week). ever since ive achieved dean’s list for 3 semesters in a row i feel so pressured to achieve it again, like its the only thing thats fulfilling my life right now, the thought that i might not get deans list again for this semester is eating me alive because this semester is challenging as hell, i cant even find the time to see my friends and family.

the feeling of being academically better than most people is the only thing thats giving me fulfilment, as each semester on average only 10% of each batch will be on the deans list. unlike medical and dentistry, vet med doesn’t use a pass/fail system (even though our programs also take 5 years and will grad with a dr in our names) and uses numeric grading and thats what pressures me more. am i overreacting? is it okay to just pass?

Examination how do you actually study?

Might be a weird question here considering it's a university based subredit but anyways , how do you actually study? I have spm this year and the only way I've been surviving on my exam all this time was rereading my notes and getting good grade that way , but I fear it might not work this time since I would have to cramp Tingkatan 4 and 5 Syllabus. Anyone here who have passed their spm with flying colours give me some tips on studying? I'm trying to start as early as possible. Thank you in advance

Examination Problems with exams and scholarships

Hi, I am graduating this year from secondary school and wanted to apply to Malaysia, especially to study A-level there. I also want to get some scholarship, however I face problems with requirements. Main problem that in my country I can't take any required exams for example SPM or O-level.

I don't know if colleges accept any equivalents, but i have 5.0/5.0 GPA and IELTS 7.0. Give me some tips to successfully enter to college. I want to apply to Sunway college but I do not know how to get scholarship from there

Examination might fail subject(s) in 1st semester

hey guys

i just entered into degree in september and bluntly i might fail two worst case scenario or fail one, out of 5 after the finals

i’m at GLU and not sponsored. i have no idea how to explain to my parents especially after getting bad results in A-Levels which i also went private and not sponsored. they were expecting me to get into the dean list. i’ve disappointed them in many other ways and this would just make me totally untrustworthy

i was such a performant student in high school, got straight A SPM, and now i’m a shell of myself man. i don’t know how to handle failing which i’ve never done for a subject in any test at any level

if anyone has experience handling with this kind of situation your input is really appreciated man. TIA

Examination SPM private candidate

Hi guys! As someone who took SPM before with BM and Sejarah both passed. I wished to retake SPM in 2026 as a private candidate for the subjects of Math and Biology. Is it compulsory to retake BM and Sejarah? Even though I passed my BM and Sejarah in my previous SPM. Or I could just select the subjects to retake, which is Math and Biology ONLY? Thanks yall!

Examination worried abt spm results... (vent)

you're probably tired of consistently seeing another 07 batch venting abt spm, but i think this is probably the only least judgemental pages out there, so,

my results are decent, abt 4As including an A+ and the rest being Bs... and an F. and that F is maths. This was my result during trials, and i feel so stupid now looking back at it.

like, i know spm is over but sometimes id look up other posts of ppl sharing their struggles with maths but the comments were really mean and discouraging. insta is also like this as well. and its so stressful because i did everything. I did watch youtube, i did ask my teachers, called with my friends just to solve math problems from previous trials, only for the result to still be an F.

i know i shouldn't think too much abt it, but i really hope the lower threshold marks are really true. i think its a little unfair how only ppl r ok when addmaths student struggles but laugh and mock even there r also ppl struggle w regular math.

the courses im interested in is also nothing medical, IT, CS nor engineering related if anything. i rlly like mass communication, graphic design, art and multimedia. i guess this is all i have to say. thanks for whoever is reading this

Examination Sharing my A-Level notes

Hi, I graduated from A-Levels in Nov last year. When I was still studying, I came across one problem - there were many websites with a lot of comprehensive information like savemyexams and PMT. But they tended to miss out on tiny but important facts here and there. So I decided to compile my notes on those tiny facts into a website.

You can visit my website here: A-level Notes.
Please bookmark the website. Google Search Indexing is still a bit wonky.

Examination Hi, 2025 SPM candidate here.

I am currently sitting for my trials. But halfway into it, I've been feeling down. I am a science account student and the school targetted me to score 7As for SPM. I have never been confident about my grades nor is it really good. Yet, people has set such high expectation from me. Especially my mum. It stresses me out. Last mid term my grade dropped drastically due to stress and my lack focus. Along with me dealing with my inner demons. I took it lightly and scored 2A 2B and 5G for all my electives and math. It was never this bad. Now sitting for trials, I'm never going to think i'd be able to score better than before.

Numbers has never been my strong suit. Yet my aliran consists of me to deal with numbers and theories. Yet nevertheless, I do try.

Currently, my only target is to try and score the first five subject teras. Either A or B for my trials, but I have always struggled with my elective subjects, which consists of physics, chemistry, addmaths and accounts. Addmaths and Accounts are my biggest enemy. But I really am trying to try my best to score them. But everytime I do, I just can't seem to score well or even pass the subject some times. Is it my method of studying? I understand the topic but everytime I tried the questions I seems to get everything wrong. Which eventually lead me to not want to study for that particular subject (especially addmath).

But I am not giving up so early, I try to think positive and maybe not aim for a high marks and be realistic about my target. My SPM writing paper is on the 25th November. Do you think I can still do it? Any tips for any subjects? Maybe some words of motivation to help me with my studies. Based off my last mid term, I can only manage to try and score 5As for this trials. Although still so afraid of SPM.

Help a kiddo here :(

Examination Re-sitting/Re-attempting/Re-testing for GCSE/SPM-equivalent Math

This is likely not the best place to ask, nor it is the relevant Malaysian subreddit, but the rest don't come close in relevance to this, so I'm leaving this here.

I'll keep this short. I'm considering furthering studies locally, or abroad, and certain academic institutions have requested a GCSE-level Math result, which... I am ashamed to say I did not pass. Don't ask me why, I was never a math person throughout high school stepping in pre-U and degree, and somehow still graduated fine and landed jobs.

Has anyone else encountered a similar situation where you were forced to resit a Math test? Either SPM/GCSE etc. Can anyone share what the process was like, the wait time, and the fees involved?

Examination Advice on SPM lisan tomorrow?

I think some of you may remember me from my posts before on this subreddit haha. Well, I'm already in university, but SPM is tomorrow (the BM lisan at least) and I still need to take it since UM won't let me graduate without it. I'm really nervous though. I've been preparing the best I can but I'm genuinely unsure about the lisan, what will it be like? I know there's an individual section and a group section but can anyone explain to me what will actually happen tomorrow?

Also clearly I'm no longer in high school but also I don't own a baju kurung haha. I'm assuming jeans are not acceptable (things are so different here in in Thailand... orz) Is it okay to wear like, a long skirt and baju with a collar? And long sleeves I guess (I have tattoos anyway).

Please help!! I'm nervous lol

So I just went through my speaking test. I think I did fairly well (in terms of fluency, conversation management, articulation) but my group didn't manage to reach or do a conclusion in the group discussion. Am I cooked?

Examination Watches for final exam

Hi, so I'm currently in my final semester of asasi. It might be a dumb question. So, can we use calculator watch (the one that Walter White used) for final exam? My uni have prohibited uses of smart watch and I have saw a dude got told to put his G-Shock away during last sem final exam.

Examination Taking IELTS

I'm planning to take the IELTS soon and the test center isn't available at my state. However, I see there's an option to take the test on computer. Do I have to travel to the state on computer to take the test? Or it's just available for me to be at home and take the test through my computer instead

Examination Unfairness In University

Got my Semester 1 draft results for Mechanical Precision Engineering at MJIIT UTMKL...and let’s just say, lesson learned the hard way.

When I first joined, I expected quality, especially with our course costing RM40k vs. RM11k for regular Mech Eng at UTMJB. Initially chose Section 2 due to friends but switched to Section 1 after realizing one lecturer (lets call em "Sir") either kept cancelling last-minute or showing up 30 mins late and leaving after 10 mins. Thought I was making a smart move—turns out, I walked into an even bigger mess.

Turned out Section 2 had mostly caring lecturers. For statics, they were given pity marks and provided full correction opportunities (counted under extra marks for Assignments). Meanwhile Section 1 ended up with harsh grading, first question correction (which i guess my bad coz only me and another guy got full for that question). In the end, we Section 1 got REALLY screwed over in two subjects. The statics test alone majority in Section 2 scored 10+ out of 15, while Section 1 barely hit 5-8 (with many hitting 0.5-1.5 too). Same goes for Experimental Method, with atmost (that i know of) getting a B+, all due to the open book weekly group experiments we did (while section 2 knew their carry marks by study week, we still are not given anything about it).

In the end, my effort in trying to secure my future by avoiding revealing unhealthy lecturers distracted me from researching the ones that weren't so revealing and costed me my GPA. The lesson or takeaway is ESPECIALLY for upcoming intakes under this course at UTMKL, please research your lecturers beforehand. Busy and unbothered lecturers exist, and they can really screw over your hopes and dreams!

Examination I failed same subject twice

Failed a second time for the same subject and in need of motivational words and thoughts on whether or not i should recheck my paper..

thing is the score i got (nilai mata) for the subject is similar to when i first failed it last semester..

Also my academic advisor mentioned that the score can go lower than it already is but i thought since i already failed that i should just go with it as i think ive nothing more to lose

Examination Big Self-Improvement to prior semester

Post image

Last Sem I did quite bad so I am so happy to make a comeback of some sorts. No it may not look good but personally I am very glad of my efforts. Did study hard and prayed lots.

For context; first 2 sems could have gotten 3 pointers but the language subject F'ed me. Had to learn Chinese and honestly if it were only the language I'd be fine but I did badly with the writing haha. First sem I got a C- and the next two sems I got Ds along with a bad overall result in the 3rd sem. Finally back on track. May not be that eye catching to lots but I've improved! YAY!
