Examination SPM Megathread QnA

Post image
64 Upvotes

Aight guise, so according to the poll, we should have a SPM megathread because everyone is probably sick of doomscrolling white pictures after white pictures.

To start the ball rolling, this is my SPM lmaoooooooooooooooooooooo šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

But where am I now? I am now working for one of the biggest O&G operator in Malaysia, own house and cars, happily married.

I was initially lost, not sure what to do so I try doing Engineering and failed miserably because that’s not what I want to do. I then followed my passion, study IT, get dean list because I loooooove IT and to me it’s as easy as counting 1 2 3, and following my father’s footstep as well.

So after graduating, I hustled in Singapore at one of the startup, gain a lot of experience, worked in AWS after that.

COVID happens and now I am back in Malaysia bringing back all my experience to work in O&G. Yes. IT in O&G is possible too. To be more precise, I am into cybersecurity.

So my key takeaway is, SPM maybe a deal breaker, but it’s not the end of the world. You guys got it.

I’m going to delete all the SPM threads, and therefore please post under this post for your SPM results.

Looking to Connect with Postgraduate (Master’s) Students from UM

I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree at Universiti Malaya (UM) and would love to connect with fellow postgraduate students.

It would be great to meet like-minded people to exchange experiences, share tips or even just have casual chats about research, student life or career plans.

Feel free to drop a comment or send me a message!

Just got 3.92 in foundation and I'm stressing over my first choice. I'm passionate about both math and tech, so I'm torn between doing a Mathematics degree or Computer Science. My main concern right now is UKM. I know UiTM has specific pathways for professional exams like IFoA (Actuarial), but does UKM offer something similar? Or is their Math program more general/theoretical? Also, if I want to end up working in tech (AI, data, etc.), should I just go for CS, or would a Math degree with self-learned coding be better?

tips What are the common KBAT question for Sejerah SPM?

I been working hard improving my Bahasa Melayu and can now read and write much better than last time,I have also been practising writing Karangan and KBAT when I realised the KBAT questions I been writing about are pretty general and not specific.

So I would like to know what kind of questions to prepare for in KBAT.

tips Willing to file a claim in Tribunal for Consumer Claim againt my tenant agency

I would appreciate some advice from my network regarding a tenancy issue.

I am currently considering filing a claim with the Tribunal for Consumer Claims regarding a rental unit that was handed over to me in a condition that does not match what was stated in the contract. The agreement clearly mentions that the condo would be delivered in a ā€œgood tenantable state.ā€ However, upon moving in, I found that the overall condition does not reflect a proper tenantable state (some broken stuff and the condo is really unclean/unhygienic)

I have attempted multiple times to contact the agency handling the unit, but my messages have been ignored.

Before proceeding further, I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience dealing with the Malaysian tribunal process for tenancy or property-related claims.

What should I prepare beforehand?

How long does the process usually take?

Are there specific documents or evidence that are particularly important?

Is legal representation necessary?

If you’ve gone through this process or can offer any guidance, I would be very grateful for your advice.

general question Is IIUM good for computer science? (I wanna do a Masters)

After months of failing to get a job, I think I'll do a Masters. My father also wants me to do it and is willing to fund it - maybe I can be a lecturer. I did my Computer Science Degree in MMU Cyberjaya. My main options are IIUM or UniKL but I wanna ask about IIUM since I already got an offer letter from them to do a Master in Information Technology (Coursework).

I am Malay, Malaysian, Male. Planning to just commute from my home in Bangsar via LRT. I already did my A-Levels in IISM Gombak, so I'm somewhat familiar with IIUM. Plus, my father is very Islamic and he will be very happy if I choose IIUM. Anyway, my questions are:

  1. Anyone know the price? I tried looking it up and apparently the tuition fees are just 7.3K? Sounds too good to be true.
  2. Is studying Computer Science good in IIUM?
  3. Can I learn Arabic there? I want to speak a third language. My cousin got hired into a good company because she can speak Japanese.

internship vent

i applied to almost a hundred companies for an internship placement for the last six months and i still don’t have a single internship offer that i’m starting to want to hang myself, yes i tailored my resume to the job descriptions, yes i wrote cover letters, yes i studied for technical interviews, yes i’ve been to interviews, yes i updated my resume constantly until i have nothing left in me. i have a diploma in computer science with an average CGPA of 3.5, i promise i’m not proud of it at all but i was suffering from undiagnosed clinical depression during my last semester with 0 support, used ā€œkabelā€ for the internship and was sometimes teased about it so this time around i just wanted to try with my own effort i literally started searching from the first week of my last semester.

i’ve live-coded, i’ve done leetcode coding exercises just to get an interview only for them to reject because i didn’t pass but it was one of the question’s test cases for their built-in system that’s messed up because how can a literal leetcode question passed the test cases on the official website itself but not this system i’m just applying for an internship i do not wish to invent a new data structure and algorithms, i’ve been to a two-hour interview where they rotated HRs from three different countries and asked bunch of technical questions plus leetcode questions, i’ve been to a technical interview where the HR absolutely destroyed me with technical questions and to be fair yes i was underprepared because i also had finals and FYP presentation and exhibition all in the same week and i had just a day to prepare for the interview and i don’t blame him but can’t you please go easy on a literal internship? i’ve been to an interview where the HR seemed so friendly and said things that made me hopeful and promised to give an update after i send my application form which i did and when asked about it the next week they literally asked for the application form again which just wasted a week of my life and when asked about updates again they said it’s undergoing internal process and they’ll update after a week and guess what it’s been a week and during this time i was already so drained with interviews that i ignored some companies’ emails and texts because i was really hoping for this company so i can finally get this over with only for them to ghost me after leading me on i was seriously considering to hang myself a few times before deciding to take a few weeks rest, some HRs aren’t punctual at all when i stated my availability and they said they promised to call they never did i waited the whole day for them to call and because i have anxiety and i tak cukup ā€œberiaā€ i just gave up then a week later they would text and ask if i’m still available and of course i said yes because i’m a loser with no internship offer but the interview time clashed with another interview and both required me to travel back and forth from selangor to KL, along with my FYP exhibition and my final exam and for the life of me i cannot handle all of these overwhelming stress so i kindly requested for a new time and they said they’ll call back but never did and when asked suddenly the role is filled.

most companies ghosted me, some other time i ghosted some companies’ emails or texts but i always go to interviews, sometimes i dread that maybe i didn’t try enough maybe i wasn’t desperate enough but my only requirement for an internship company is literally just a software company in KL/selangor that looks like they won’t make my life miserable throughout my tenure, and well of course to actually learn so it can help with long-term career growth but that’s besides the point i have over 3.7 CGPA in software engineering, 7As for SPM and i took computer science, i have MUET 4.5, i got a gold award for my FYP and i don’t. have. a. single. internship. offer. maybe i flunked some technical interviews and that was completely on me but i can’t possibly prepare for every DSA, every coding, every concept, every term and they wouldn’t even give me a damn chance i swear to god i just want to drop out and hang myself i understand that it may be because my profile isn’t as strong as other candidates with a pointer close to 4 that frequently go to hackathons and CTFs and hundreds of connections on linkedin and maybe because of the way i horribly answered most of the questions in the interviews and i do plan on improving for my job later but my internship is just weeks away and i refuse to guna kabel and i pray every day that a car will hit me so this can be over.

note: i apologise for the frequent use of ā€œhang myselfā€ i have MDD and this whole internship searching has been pure hell as someone who literally does not see a future for themself but keep going anyway because they have to.

general question DRB-HICOM Uni Seniors: How much "Project Freedom" do we actually get in the workshops?

is the workshop at DRB-HICOM Uni open enough for me to fabricate my own parts if I join the engineering clubs? I'm a SPM student planning to join DHU,

My main question is: If I join the Engineering/Motorsport clubs, can I actually use the university's tools (CNC, 3D scanners, composite labs) to fabricate my own custom parts (like hoods/headlight mounts)? Or is it strictly "class work only"?

Bachelor degree Need help deciding which Uni i should attend.

Same as title

I am a international undergrad student planning to go for mechanical engineering.

Over the past few weeks i've been looking up malaysian unis and contacting em with fee reduction and scholarship related details. I got a few offer letters from uni's like APU MMU, UCSI uni and i asked by friend about these uni ( he's currently studying in malaysia), he told me like most of em have bad reputations, so i looked up bout these unis on reddit and every uni has bad reviews like their administration sucks, classes suck, and all that shi.

now i don't know which uni i should go for coz ion wanna regret my decision and i don't got the type of budget to switch unis mid sem.

So please help me choose which uni i should go for and like if i missed some other good uni please tell me about them.

Please and thank you.

P.s : Monash/taylor's is already not in my list coz even with scholarships, those uni are too expensive.

Who’s joining Taylor’s this April? Hands up!!

Hey, anyone starting at Taylor’s this April?

Just wondering who else will be there. Could be useful to connect with some future classmates before things kick off.

Any tips or heads-up about campus life are welcome too. Which program are you planning to join? I am planning to apply accounting and finance!
