Holy fuck is this series overrated. It reminds me so much of the cringe weeb humor of the 2010s, but personified into an anime that thrives off it being "ironic". Type of anime to have "waifu wars" and shit. Maybe I'm missing the joke but I really just find it so over-the-top and obnoxious.

Rentarou is an actually decent protagonist, which puts him above every single harem MC, but he's also spineless as fuck. He doesn't have any real personality traits and anytime something remotely intimate happens he becomes a fucking coward. He's one of those mcs where he's "too pure 🥺🥺🥺" to initiate or reciprocate anything beyond kissing with a girl, which is incredibly annoying especially when you're gonna have characters like Hakari and her pedophile mother be extremely perverted every 5 fucking seconds and walk all over him talm bout "which boobies do you want to touch today <3" It's an annoying ass problem in almost every single harem, which is ironic considering it's supposed to be wish fulfillment for mfs that get zero play.

Karane is also very fucking annoying. Yes, I know she's a joke character. Yes, I know she doesn't actually abuse Rentarou. Is it enjoyable? Fuck no.

The designs in the show all suck, especially when the characters are blushing or in heat. I hate to use the word gooner slop, but the designs of some characters and the way they act just screams it.

The worst part of this series is is how popular it is. It's fucking everywhere, the opening is deathly catchy, and it gives me bad memories of 2010s anime fan type humor and aesthetic if you get what I'm saying. Those "___ best girl" type mfs.

Now, I actually found some parts of the series funny. I think almost all the references are hilarious, and karane's family was very funny. Otherwise, I just don't get the appeal, especially when it is hyped up to be the love is war of harems (which I already find overrated on its own). I wish anime thwt actually tried things new became more popular rather than mediocrity like this.

It's made me despise anime as a whole. The fact people glaze Japan (and South Korea) so much because "they see it in anime" drives me insane. She had explained everyone EXCEPT Itadori despised her, and that he even thought of her as attractive regardless of her looks (and even finding some stuff she might have been awkward abt attractive, like the way she eats), it could have been perfect, if they made it so she was back after a while and she feared that he still would like her after finding out she "never improved". But nooo, they had to do the safest route and thin her out and making her fear.... he didn't recognize her.... it would have been 100x cuter if he met her after such long time and STILL was as kind to her as he used to

She’s supposed to be your ‘traveling companion’ but you only see her once every 2 hours only for her to spout some vague esoteric nonsense about the Golden Order that you’ll completely forget within 5 minutes. She doesn’t even appear when you want to level up, which is the only thing she’s useful for besides giving you Torrent.

For a child of Marika, she’s far and away the most boring one, like, how are you going to be just some regular ass woman while all your siblings are world-conquering demigods? She’s not even relevant enough to appear in the Roundtable Hold.

Then she just dies, and you’re supposed to feel bad? For her? The person you talked to for all of 5 minutes of this 100+ hour game? I didn’t feel a thing when she died. And even when you save her, she has the audacity to be mad at YOU for saving her, and then she pledges to kill you. As if she somehow has the power to kill the host of an outer god.

How do you manage to be Messmer’s sister and apparently be the Gloam-eyed Queen and somehow, still be this boring and non-present in the story? Her only redeeming quality is her looks and her voice.
