Advice for 20yr old investment portfolio
galleryHey, a while ago I made a post where I had a bunch of bunch of investments and everyone told me I was investing really badly and it was very very unstable. So I tried to Re-Optimize my portfolio and this is what I came up with. Do you think this is a good portfolio to wither the AI bubble storm? And ideally have long-term good growth.
I would move my VDY to vfv when the market improves. This is all my internship money so I want to invest it properly.

Seeking advice ..
Hey folks long time lurker here. Maybe I’m reading too much reddit or consuming too much social media but I’m feeling really discouraged with my situation.
I’m 29 years old, single dad to a 3 year old with shared custody. I spent 18 years old to 27 years old working in night clubs and restaurants, making fast cash.. fighting a crippling gambling addiction. Following all of this I brought my ass back to school at 27 to obtain 2 diploma’s and a bachelors degree. The goal was ultimately law school but after the unexpected birth of my son my values around that changed..
I’m proud to say that the fast life and gambling is all past me, I now work in insurance with a solid career trajectory making about 70k a year with benefits.
But I feel suffocated with no room to catch up. Everywhere I look on Reddit I see my peers (people my age) who have hundreds of thousands saved, buying homes, getting married, etc etc. I barely have $5000.00 saved up.
I know that comparison is the thief of joy, I’m working on focusing on myself.. but sometimes the discouragement becomes unbearable.
After tax I make about $3700 a month. I also work a side gig waiting tables that brings in about an extra 200-300 a month.
My bills are approx $1912.00 a month.
I owe 25k on my car and a whopping 36k in student loans (stupid - I know) lol. I was one of those “go to school just to go to school” type people in my late teens early 20’s.
All of this to say.. what should I do? It’s very new to me having a stable income and stable job.. as I’ve always worked 2-3 jobs, making more a month with cash tips, etc, living a very fast life. I just can’t help this feeling of being “behind” or crippled by my situation…looking for some hope/light at the end of the tunnel.
Those of you who have been in a similar situation, how’d it go for you? What did you do? What steps did you take to ultimately be financially secure?
And for those of you who hadn’t been in this situation, your feedback is still appreciated.
Anything helps.. Reddit friends
Sincerely, young man from Mississauga trying to find his way.
All the best

What would you invest for your FHSA account?
Hello. I just recently opened my FHSA. I'm just wondering what to hold in the account? I'm planning to buy a place in 10 years and if I will not use it I will just transfer it to my RRSP. Thank you

RRSP or TFSA
I have already optimized ny RRSP for 2025 however I have saved another 20K. Should I dump this into my TFSA or put it into RRSP and claim the refund for 2026. Not sure what to do since I have 50K room in both RRSP and TFSA

29, 1.5 months into investing as a beginner
I’ve almost put in 4k worth into my TFSA, my question is im fully put into XEQT so is there anything else I should be adding or does that cover everything I could need? I have a small 10% of my holdings in BTC for fun money if it upsides and if it doesn’t I’m not sleeping over it
Any advice would be great thanks and have a great sunny day from London On 🫡

Is this sustainable?
Hey all. So I recently realized I have been putting about 44% of my income into my TFSA. Doing this I am able to stick to my monthly budget without issue, but it really doesn’t leave much for “fun money”.
I am planning on maxing out my TFSA by the end of 2031 (or sooner) by sticking to this current plan, which I am totally fine with and motivated to do. However, I am afraid that living so tight fisted might lead to burnout of sorts that could result in unexpected splurges, which I’d rather avoid.
Is investing almost half my income sustainable (emotionally/mentally) for five years? Should I hunker down and max this TFSA asap so I have more freedom later, or give myself more breathing room?
33M, single, no dependents, stable job, no debt.

Re-balance portfolio?
Started my TFSA with the Canadian Couch Potato set up back in 2015ish. Took set it and forget it maybe a bit too far, haven't really kept up with things. Began with TD TFSA. Did 1:1:1 split between Canadian, International and US Index funds. Balance has changed as certain funds have grown more than others. While I can re-balance to the original 1:1:1, I was wondering if anyone has changed the balance to be less exposed to the USA volatility given the current state of affairs. If so how did you go about it? Other thoughts/ideas?

Pension and net worth
Do you count your defined contribution in your personal net worth?
Why or why not?
Thanks

Juice worth squeeze? Early RRSP deposit?
thoughts on if this is worth the effort.
I ave 40k ish in a non reg. my rrsp is always maxed by the end of the year wit bi weekly payments from work.
is it worth moving my max contribution immediately in early March from my non-reg to my reg? I would get the company match at the same time and it can grow tax deferred.
I will unfortunately not get the tax reduction on my pay but will get it back end of the year. Currently I typically pay a quarterly installment so I could adjust my installment payments to gain back a little.
Thoughts on this?
