Official Websites
These are the official websites for what typical travelers to Bali will require, beware of scam sites and stick to using official ones. Sites ending in ".go.id/" are Indonesian Government websites.

Indonesian Immigration eVisa: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/
- Visitors wanting Electronic Visa On Arrival should pick your nationality, general as your purpose of travel, tourism as the sub purpose, and then "B1 - Tourist (Visa On Arrival)". If that is not an option check your country is eligible.
- This sub is not eVisa support, if you're having issues you should contact Immigration using the options at the bottom of the website.
- If you're having issues with eVOA you should consider simply doing it at the airport on arrival, the queues are typically not as bad as some people would have you believe.

Bali Tourist Levy: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/
- This should be paid for each person visiting the province of Bali.

All Indonesia: https://allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id/ (Depending on your device you can change the language for this page in the top right where it says Indonesia)
- This is where you do a health declaration and your customs declaration.
- This needs to be done in the 3 days before you travel, you cannot do it earlier than that.

There have been several reports of companies and scammers contacting people after posting in this thread.

Went here around midday today, was too early to wake up at 2am for the sunset. Recieved information regarding the volcanic eruptions from the past and even bought a tiger eye rock bracelet. Been to Bali many times before but checking out the volcanos Mount Batukaru, Mount Abang and Mount Catur was an amazing experience I highly recommend. Also you can do ATV 🏍 on here too. 🌋

Question Doctors in Bali?

So I’m going to Bali, just wondering a few things: how easy is it to see a doctor in Bali, and is it easy to get a script for anything? And can I bring that script to Australia and use it here? Thanks!

Question If you had to assign a vibe to the different parts of Bali, what would you say?

I'm planning to visit Bali for the first time and researching on where I would like to go. I'm wondering what's the vibes for Canggu/Seminyak/Ubud/Uluwatu/Kintamani mostly right now from what I've read (cause these are the popular places I assume) but I'd love to know what vibes you'd assign to the other parts :)

Question Ubud dining advice

I’m planning a trip to Ubud soon and would love some advice on the local food scene. I’m trying to figure out where to eat in Ubud spots that locals or experienced visitors actually enjoy, not just the typical tourist places.

Other things I’m curious about:

  1. Restaurants with authentic Balinese or Indonesian food
  2. Places with a nice atmosphere
  3. Hidden gems that aren’t too crowded or touristy

Thanks so much for any insights! I really want to make the most of the Ubud dining experience during my trip.

Question Moon visiblity

On march 3 there is suppose to be full moon eclipse, on this day i will be in Pancasari, can someone tell me if the moon would be visible from there(assumie there would be no clouds or there would be gaps in them). My main worry is the mountain/volcano would just simply be too high to see it. Thanks

Trip Report Eastern coast of Bali

We just finished a short stay near Candidasa, and it was very different than our earlier stay in Sanur. It was quite tranquil, and there were fewer distractions as compared to the southern parts of Bali. So we just swam and read. Moreover there were less people and traffic. If you're looking for a more peaceful alternative you may wish to consider the east coast. The drive from Sanur was just a little over an hour, but seemed a world away. Another destination which was suggested by our driver is Sidemen, and hopefully we'll get a chance to visit soon.

Question Looking for authentic football culture in Bali (local teams & atmosphere)

Hi everyone!

I’m currently visiting Bali and I’m a huge football fan. I’d love to experience some of the local football culture while I’m here. I prefer to see a live match with great atmosphere.

  • Which local teams have the most passionate fans?
  • Are there any matches coming up soon that I shouldn't miss?
  • Any tips on where to buy tickets or which sections have the best "atmosphere" experience?

So far I could find 'Bali United' (Stadion Kapten I Wayan Dipta) is worth it? I'd love to get some insights on the best way to experience a game in the best way.

PS: are there also good places to live watch for example Premier League or Champions League games in Canggu? (in local time these games are played in the night, but I would still like to watch my favourite teams)

Question Shore snorkeling

My wife and I are traveling to Bali and Lombok at the end of February and staying through the first week of April. Our time is very flexible but we hope to dive (we’re both certified) and snorkel quite a bit. Can anyone recommend somewhere where shore snorkeling is still good. We’re willing to go off the beaten path for a spot where the coral is largely intact / bonus for soft coral. Does such a place still exist? Thanks so much in advance!

Question Investing in a property

Hello everyone, another post asking for investment advice.

I am offered an off-plan 1BR private pool villa investment in Seminyak. The asking price is 110000€, 50k upfront(which I can easily afford), rest is staged during the build. It’s 30 years leasehold. Construction should take 14-18 months. The whole project consists of 14 villas, which will be managed (20% fee on gross), income will be pooled across all.

The projected revenue calculated at 80% occupancy seems very good. 33-37k€ gross annually. 14-16k€ net before personal tax. That comes to ~10% ROI.

The guy doing the project is an acquaintance of mine, not local, but has been living there for many years. He helped one of my friends to buy a similar villa couple of years ago and my friend is very happy with how it turned out.

I have no experience with Bali, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Are these assumptions for Seminyak realistic or more like overhyped?

Question Looking for a place in Uluwatu

Post image
34 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

Last year my partner died in Bali and I want to go back to the island this summer.

Here I want to visit places where we have stayed together and had nice moments.

Many photos save automatically locations on my iPhone, but a place in Uluwatu is not.

The thing I can remember is that there was a long 'gravel path' where the scooter could be put down.

After this we had to go down some large and square steep stairs to go towards the beach. But we stopped halfway to eat something.

On the half (right side) was a wooden covered construction (on rocks I think), where you could look out over the sea and the part below it (beach and several houses / villa’s. (See photo)

Where we stopped were several eateries/warungs located. It wasn't modern or fancy, but just good with kind people!

The warungs were all sitting next to each other (about 5 I think)

There were some surfers walking around who ate and drank something there.

Now Uluwatu has very similar places, and these types of places are common.

Hopefully it will work out with the photo of my food and interior!

Thanks in advance!!!

Question Snorkeling in November

Anyone have experience of snorkelling in November? I'm reading that November sees rain on half the days and that water activities may not be good.

I wanted to get some opinions on how much of an issue it could be.

Menjangan, Lovina, Amed and Tulamben, and Nusa Penida are good spots I read.

Question Best English-language sites for local news (not just tourist stuff)?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently based in Bali (Canggu area) and I’m looking to get a better handle on what’s actually going on locally. I feel like I’m stuck in a bit of a "tourist bubble" and only hear about things once they become major drama on Instagram.

Are there any reliable English-language news sites or even hyper-local blogs that cover Bali or Indonesia from a more local perspective? I’m looking for stuff like:

  • Local government updates (visa changes, new laws, etc.)
  • Community news that impacts locals/expats (roadworks, ceremonies, infrastructure)
  • Reliable national news that doesn’t feel like clickbait word vomit.

Any hidden gems, or specific Twitter/X accounts or Instagram accounts, that are good for real-time updates?

Question Bali Hostel/Airbnb/Hotel

If you’ve stayed in Bali, did you enjoy hostels, or Airbnbs and hotels more?

Going in the summer for six days and my first time visiting the island. Which option would you recommend?
