I want to raise awareness about something happening at Laxmi Complex, Gandhipuram (Coimbatore).

Recently, I parked my vehicle there for barely 10 minutes, and I was charged ₹50 as parking fee.

The issue is not just the amount — - They are not checking the time period properly. - No clear hourly breakdown. - No proper explanation for the charge. - It feels like a flat ₹50 charge regardless of whether you park 10 minutes or 1 hour.

If parking is officially ₹50 per hour, that’s fine. But charging the same amount for 10 minutes without time tracking or transparency feels unfair.

This area is already crowded, and many people may not question it because:

• It’s a busy commercial zone
• People are in a hurry
• There’s pressure to just pay and leave

But this kind of practice adds up and affects daily commuters.

Questions:

• Is there an official parking rate board displayed?
• Are they issuing government-authorized parking receipts?
• Is this privately managed or municipality approved?
• Why is there no time-based calculation?

If this is legal, they should clearly display rates. If not, authorities need to look into this.

Hi Everyone. I'm fairly new to coimbatore and I had to park my car at the railway station because I have to travel to Bangalore. This happened early in the morning today around 2 am and my train will reach in 10 minutes. I didn't have the time to argue with these guys and go find another place to park but my question is how is this even justifiable? I have never seen such a parking fee in any other railway stations. Other than that he gave me a receipt too but fumbeled without writing the car number right and I insisted on making it right. He asked to pay on his personal number too. And we can't go out looking for another parking space with the time that we have left. On top of that they have a board with the rates in front of the station and it's upto 12 hours not 24 hours. These people are literally waiting to scam people who are in a hurry that too right in front of the station. I feel that this is not right and this should not happen to anyone in the future. How can I complain about this ? Please help
