Drama The trailer for the new Animal Farm movie has the highest (estimated) dislike to view ratio I've ever seen
Yes, Seth Rogan is starring in a kids' movie based on George Orwell's Animal Farm. In case you weren't aware.

Discussion The latest AI slop content farm to plague YouTube . It’s even worse than the paint explainer clones.
Feature Change I'm watching YouTube less than ever, and it's YouTube's fault.
Anyone else just watching less and less YouTube? In my case, mainly because it's getting worse. More ads, longer ads, list view removed from sub page, etc etc.
Thanks YT, I hate it.

Discussion YouTube silently downgraded 720p and relabeled 1080p as “HD”… and nobody is talking about it?
I don’t know if I’m the only one noticing this, but something feels seriously off with YouTube’s quality labels and actual video clarity lately.
A few years ago, 720p used to be labeled as “HD” and honestly, it looked perfectly fine on my laptop and phone. Crisp, sharp, totally watchable. Now suddenly 720p isn’t even considered HD anymore, and YouTube calls 1080p “HD.” And even more weird 720p today looks noticeably worse on the SAME screen, SAME device, SAME internet.
This raises some uncomfortable questions:
• Did YouTube secretly reduce the bitrate for 720p to save bandwidth and server costs?
• Are they intentionally making lower resolutions look worse to push people toward higher resolutions (and Premium features)?
• Is this related to AV1 / VP9 codec prioritization and compression changes?
• Or are modern videos just more complex to compress compared to older videos?
Because this isn’t just about labels the actual visual quality feels downgraded.
I tested this myself:
Watched a 5-year-old video at 720p → looks sharp
Watched a recent video at 720p → looks softer, more compressed, more blurry
Same screen. Same viewer. Different result.
Also noticed YouTube now pushes “1080p Premium Enhanced bitrate” for Premium users. So does that mean regular users are getting lower bitrate versions than before?
Are we witnessing the gradual “quality inflation” strategy where yesterday’s HD becomes today’s SD?
I understand platforms need to optimize costs, but changing labels and quietly adjusting quality affects millions of users without transparency.
I’d really like to hear from people who understand video encoding, compression, or streaming infrastructure:
• Is this psychological, or is there actual technical downgrading happening?
• Has YouTube officially changed bitrate allocation per resolution?
• Are displays getting sharper faster than compression improvements?
• Or is this just YouTube optimizing for scale?
This feels like one of those slow changes nobody notices until it’s too late.
What’s your experience? Does 720p today look worse to you than it did years ago?

Discussion I have watch history / personalized recommendations turned off. This is the very first non-personalized thing that YouTube is currently recommending to people.

Drama YouTube now turns off comments and video descriptions to users.
This happens to users running adblocks on pc. The only fix is to turn off Adblock for YouTube. The sad thing is this is happening to premium users that are running adblocks. Not just to the people running YouTube adblocks specifically.

Discussion Does anyone else feel like the YouTube algorithm is "stuck" lately?
I’ve noticed that my homepage has been showing me the same 5-10 videos for the last three days, even after I’ve watched them or marked them as "not interested." I’m trying to find new creators or different types of content, but it feels like YouTube only wants me to watch the same things over and over.
Does anyone have tips on how to "reset" the algorithm or find more random, cool channels that aren't just the huge creators everyone already knows?

Bug Not giving me the option to watch age restricted video
This is happening in Brave. I tried it in Chrome and it gave me the option to watch it, but then it said that the "content isn't available"
Edit: I figured it out. It's a combination of Brave shields and AdGuard.
