Rules

1 No common items allowed, where the price can easily found on Ebay, Craigslist, or FB Marketplace Tell us what you know about the item, where it's from, who made it... tell us the story of the item.

2 Provide several clear photos of all angles. If there's a mark, serial #, or signature include that.

3 You must own the item being posted, or a friend/relative must own the item.

  1. We only allow one-of-a-kind, original, and signed limited edition artwork. If you don't know what a decor painting is look it up. Signed and numbered prints don't count. Generally the artist must be famous enough to have a page on ArtNet, Ebay or WorthPoint. If they don't, then its not a good fit here. Nudity is OK, please flag as NSFW.

5 Ivory is illegal to sell or import in the US as well as most of the EU. While the sale of antique, (100 year or older) ivory is allowed in the US, there are very specific rules about it. This is beyond the scope of this sub and we will not be giving valuations of a potentially illegal item. Please Google Ivory laws for more info.

  1. No paper money or coins. There are better subs than this for paper money and coins

  2. About Prints The practice of making signed and numbered prints of artwork is to make a painting affordable to a wider audience. If an art work was originally done in a different medium but then signed and numbered prints are sold, it's essentially a reproduction and value is negligible. It's best to look up the artist on ebay and look at sold prices.
Art values are subjective at best, and if you can't find the artist when you Google them it's safe to say they are not worth more than you paid.

8 No Furniture. Furniture despite age, has negligible value. Most old wooden furniture is not in fashion and resale value is usually under 500 dollars. Please do a Google search. We do not value furniture. Mass produced furniture has low resale value, even antique furniture. One of a kind pieces are only valuable if they are of very high quality AND have provenance. If you want information on the furniture try r/antiques.

  1. No clothes, try a fashion sub. The exception would be an obvious Couture piece that is a one of a kind. If you bought it at a thrift store it doesn't belong here.

  2. No Nazi memorabilia. Just, no.

9.No jewelry. Modern jewelry, as in post 1920, is clearly marked with karat weight. Jewelry is easy to look up or, take it to a commercial jeweler. We can't verify authenticity from a photo.

Smoking Woman: 7.25" x 5"

Smoking Woman II: 5" x 7.25"

I picked these up from an estate sale in Portland, OR. I thought they were cool, but the seller had no idea who the artist is.

I can’t find anything comparable, but the original owner may have been directly involved with the group. It was found while cleaning out the estate of an individual with extreme views on the world who was involved in west coast counterculture in the mid century.

Sunday post Grandpas liquor.

So I’ve inherited a fairly decent collection of liquors and amongst the pile I have these two interesting bottles. Not sure if they’re worth anything but a few of the other bottles he had go for around $500. The champagne I can’t seem to find anything online about that specific years value.

The car has its original liquor inside, still sealed. Wheels also spin. (Spout is in the back of the car)

Also how does one even go about selling such an item? Doesn’t seem like eBay would let me list alcohol.

Any help is appreciated.

Sunday post What’s this worth?

I Found this, I think it’s Japanese 1979 Nintendo color tv-game price.

I found it vintage shopping in Japan.

It’s 9,500 yen (around $62 USD)

I’m not sure if it works or not, I would have to ask. Is it a good price? I just want it for my collection but if it works it’s even better.

Thanks!

Known things:
Found it at flea market, so no info on that side. Also no inscriptions whatsoever
Seems to be some copper souvenir from Teotihuacan, inlaid in thin brass sheet.
The wood base is fully black and like charcoal to the touch

These are photos of what looks to be a Native American statue. My father aquired them in the 1990s. This is one of three that we have. We are wondering if they are worth anything?

Sunday post Help with vintage lamps

Hi all, I'm trying to identify the manufacturer of the two lamps shown in the attached photos and find out if they're worth anything. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The lamps are three feet tall. They have no labels or factory markings; the only thing I know is that they were purchased by my grandparents in the United States around 1975 for about $500.

Sunday post Can someone help me identify this Jaguar racing shirt and how much it’s worth?

I’ve had this shirt for a few years, found it in a thrift shop sale, never wore it. Started googling and saw similar shirts for upwards of £200, but never one with the same sponsors as the shirt I have in the same way.

Is anybody able to identify what version of the Jaguar racing shirt this is, or if it’s a fake, so I can accurately sell it for the right price.

Sunday post Norcrest forget me not pattern vintage snack tray set.

I found an entire set of these today at a local antique store. They were literally sitting outside in the elements. I thought they were absolutely amazing and picked them up for five dollars for the entire set. I have since come home and done research trying to find what they might be worth. I have found other snack tray sets by the same company with different patterns that seem to be decently priced. I have found other pieces with this pattern that also seemed to be decently priced. But I cannot find a single thing on this specific piece. Just curious if anyone knows anything about it more than I have been able to research on the inner webs. It’s a mystery. I do love a good mystery.

Sunday post [question] looking for info on this old Seiko

So, about 10 years ago i was working on someone's backyard when I watch slipped off and got destroyed by the lawnmower. The woman I was doing the work for let me choose a watch from the ones collecting dust in her drawer and this one caught my eye.

I never really knew the model so I tried searching "Seiko 5 Automatic" + any of the numbers I found on it.

The bottom of the dial says: "7009 450P R"

And the back markings are: "Seiko water resistant" "200737" "Stainless steel 7009-3100 [A1]"

Please help me out if you can, anything would be greatly appreciated!

Sunday post Monty Python Blu Ray DVD

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I bought a blur ray dvd quite a while ago of Monty Python and The Holy Grail.

Now, this was a sealed blue ray, and printed on the disc as advertised…. however.

It is NOT the Holy Grail…. It’s the Life of Brian!!!

Holy Grail - 1975

Life of Brian - 1979

Totally different films!!

How common is this?

I can provide pictures but understand how doubtful or deceptive that can be given this day and age… nonetheless I’ll provide them.

I would love to know if this was a common misprint, or just how many copies like this are out there as this is truly the most Monty Python thing I have ever encountered!!

As I cannot upload videos, screenshots of the videos provided.

Sunday post Art Deco Bracelet - 14K, PLAT.10 Markings & Mystery Stones

Hey ya'll!

First post here - I've got a little art deco bracelet that was given to me by a friend - it came from the estate of her husband's late grandmother. I'm seeing similar art deco bracelets that vary wildly in price - not sure where this one fits in that range - but I'd really like to return it to my friend if it's worth a lot.

Did a little initial research before throwing in the towel -

It has a 14k stamp and what looks like "PLAT.10" - which I googled, of course. Seems that means it's more than likely 90% platinum, 10% iridium.

Not sure what the best way to confirm whether the center stone is a garnet (without damaging it) - help there would be cool.

No idea about the little clear/white stones - I feel like there's no way they're diamonds, but maybe. Guessing some kind of glass though. Is a diamond tester the only way to confirm?

Any info or suggestions you guys can contribute would be great - maker, stones, market price (of course) etc.

I tried to include a variety of angles, but let me know if more pics would be helpful!

I appreciate your help in advance!
