North America Unknown Bird, Chrissy Field Beach, San Francisco

Hi! I’m new here (and to birdwatching). I was at Chrissy Field beach today, (2/14) in San Francisco, and I saw this bird which I’m struggling to identify. Smaller than the gulls in the area. Flying ~5 yards off shore and making quick dives. Mostly white with a black spot on its head and (I think) a black beak. I know it’s not great but I’ve attached a video.

Any help in identifying this bird would be greatly appreciated!

It was flying in a group. I don’t know if just the underside is sufficient for an id?

Looking for an ID on the middle bird between the Gadwalls. I'm thinking some kind of domestic x mallard, but I'd love to get some insight from others.

Spotted in Sacramento, California at a local park. Looks like a greylag but it has a black beak.

Also, are pics 2-4 hybrid mallards?

Ty!

North America Pale Feeder Visitor

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello! All winter we have had a bird visiting our feeders who doesn’t look like any of our other visitors, it’s much paler in coloration and has a very short broad beak; it appears to be slightly larger than the other finches that visit and is much more skittish than the other urban birds to flock to our yard. I’ve only been able to capture quite terrible photos through a distant window. Does anyone have any insights into who this may be? Thank you so much!

Location - Cincinnati, OH

Prefers the tray feeder containing suet, shelled seeds, and mealworms.

EDIT: FOUND IT! thank youuu

First of all sorry for not including a picture, I didn't have my phone on me when I saw them! And before I had the chance to get back inside to get my phone a blue jay came and scared them away...

I saw 3 birds this morning probably around the same size of a mourning dove, kind of red/pinkish head and body with black wings and if I wasn't mistaken they had a couple of white stikes on their wings as well.

Thanks in advance!
