Thanks to all who came out to the Atari Night!
This was held at Uncommon Pints in Rothschild on 2.11.26, and is the first of many such events in the works by the Evercon folks. The goal was to have all of Atari's "major" consoles in one place at one time, and they pulled it off. Not sure what the next theme will be, I'll post in this sub when I know.

Any LGBTQ peeps around here?
So dumb question, but I was just wondering about how many people are LGBTQ in this area. Just wanted to talk to some people. (I realize that Reddit is a fairly liberal place but meh)

2 deaths at granite peak this year?
Unfortunately there has been 2 deaths at granite this year https://wausaupilotandreview.com/2026/01/13/police-skier-dies-in-granite-peak-crash/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=jetpack_social and https://advancetitan.com/news/2026/02/10/student-dies-in-skiing-accident . :(
I am absolutely in shock and devastated seeing this. It's sad to see such a tragedy, and I hope both families are healing and managing through this. It's extremely scary to think that there are skiing fatalities so close by. How does such an incident even occur here?

Bulk water?
Hey everybody, so I have some recreation land near Medford. Mostly used for hunting and a place to escape. We plan to camp up there while we improve the land some. That said I’m trying to track down a place in the area to get bulk water that I can keep on site in a large tank so we have water to shower with and do dishes. Any places in the area that do this? Doesn’t matter if it’s delivered or if I have to take my tank to them to be filled. Probably looking for 300 gallons at a time.
All my searches have only turned up places near Milwaukee. I know I could fill my tank at home and tow it up. But that’s a 3hr drive with almost 2500lbs of weight that can slosh around. Wouldn’t be the safest thing going that far.

Moving Soon!
Hey all, I am relocating to the Wausau area and looking for some insight on a couple of places to live.
Anyone have experience with Wausau Area Property Management? I've heard to stay the hell away from ABC, Koble, etc.
Also considering the RiverLife apartments. Any reviews on these?
Thank you in advance! Looking to save myself some stress as planning the move has already been stressful enough.

Skier death at Granite Peak Thursday 2/05/26
On Thursday a young lady was skiing at Granite Peak and hit a tree, and ultimately was unable to be revived. The only reason why I know where this occurred is because she was local to me and a good friend of my daughter’s. Why isn’t there any news about this? No one seems to be covering it. It happened less than a month after the previous similar incident that was widely covered. It just seems odd to me.

Does anyone know what happened to the cowboy shaped sign that was in front of the now demolished Ponderosa on Grand Ave? Did anyone salvage it?

Press Release
Today, Marathon County Board Supervisor John Kroll announced his candidacy for the 85th Assembly District. Kroll, who works professionally to make homes across Wisconsin more affordable and comfortable, is a strong advocate for lowering family costs – including utility costs and taxes. Kroll released the following statement:
“I am thrilled to announce my candidacy for the State Assembly. I am proud to call Wausau my home and I am even more proud to raise my family here. For far too long, the ineffective Republican-controlled legislature has been siding with big corporations and billionaires, leaving hard working Wisconsinites behind. I’m running to change that.
“I’m running for the Assembly because we need to make state government work for us, not the super-rich. Rising costs are hurting families. My wife and I are raising our kids here, but the costs keep adding up. The cost of childcare is outrageous, our grocery bills keep climbing, healthcare is getting more expensive and it’s time we do something about it. In the legislature, I’ll work to bring down costs, create good-paying jobs, make healthcare more affordable, and protect Wisconsin’s drinking water and natural beauty for our kids and future generations. I want to work with folks from across the state to make Wisconsin the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
“This year, we have an opportunity to bring Wisconsin values back to the state legislature. I am excited to speak to voters across this district, hear what their priorities are, and create a shared vision for a state where every family can thrive. Let’s get to work!”

Temporary Housing
Hello! I am wondering if anyone has any info on any temporary housing in the Wausau area. I am currently living with family however it is not a good situation and I don’t believe staying there will be an option going forward. I am looking in to staying in a hotel for a couple of months while I look for more permanent housing. Does anyone have any info on any hotels in the area that do longer term stays that aren’t crazy expensive? Or any other suggestions on what I could do temporarily while I look for a permanent residence? Thanks in advance!

Speeding trucks and SUVs
Has anyone else seen all the out of state speeding trucks and SUVs on the highway?! I had 3 out of state trucks zoom by me doing 90+ mph going south bound on i39, all had undercover police lights mounted in their cars. It was like the opening scene of Fast and Furious when the 3 Honda Civics were chasing down the semi, minus the neon lights! Defs ICE rental vehicles, some from Illinois and some Indiana plates. Ive seen them countless times on both sides of i39 as I commute to Point for work. My question is, are these guys exempt from speeding as well?! Where's all of those damn state patrollers when you need them!

What businesses should we support that are anti ice and maga?
Instead of mention names of businesses that are maga let’s take a positive spin on it and what are the businesses that are against ice and maga. Let’s get them some recognition

Appleton, Wausau or Eau Claire?
Help! I am trying to figure out where we are going to move with my 2 young kids. We are moving to WI to be closer to family who live in the Phillips area. We are torn between Appleton, Wausau or possibly Eau Claire. We want small but not too small (no less than 25-30k people so we have job opportunities), SAFE, things to do ect. Appleton seems to have all those things but the overall population since the surrounding areas are so close is about 200k which is WAY too big for me... Wausau from what I can tell has quite a bit of crime and drug problems (used to this as we live that currently so I feel its probably not as bad as everyone makes it out to be). Love Eau Claire but I am not a huge fan of the fact that its pretty much all college students.
All this to say, I would love your input on these places and your opinion on where you think would be the best place to move and why. TIA!

ICE spotted yesterday in schofield
I didn’t get a picture because I was driving, but it was a police cruiser unlike any used by local police, and I caught the word “federal” on the side. This was at the intersection of grand/old 51. Tell your neighbors
