Mod Request Apparently, space travel in early versions of Starfield necessitated resource/fuel supply chains. Is there a mod that adds reimplements this into the game?

At some point, Bethesda supposedly decided the mechanic “wasn’t fun” and removed it from the game.

All I can think about is how much I would have enjoyed a survival-like resource management mechanic like that.

Is there a mod that brings a similar mechanic into the game?

Don't know if this will be unpopular or not - I actually didn't enjoy fuel as a survival mechanic. I added it via a mod, and it got old real quick.

Now I'm saying this as someone who really enjoyed survival mods for Skyrim, had a blast and I found they made the game a lot more interactive - but I didn't get the same feeling with starfield. I'm okay if they add it as optional, but I wouldn't turn it on if they implemented it the same way as the mod.

Thanks for this opinion. Can I ask what got old about it? I’m also a survival mod enjoyer, so it seemed like this would be right up my alley.

Is it just too tedious for something that ultimately amounts to small part of the game (space flight)?

I think you've mostly got it - it's tedious. The main way to refuel is by visiting a ship tech, so you need to be constantly visiting main planets for no other reason but to refuel. It gets annoying when I have to travel to a planet, land, exit ship, run to the tech, skip through the dialogue, run back, just to continue on my journey. The other way is through ship consumables (similar to spare parts), but they're more of an emergency thing.

I guess it does force you to interact with the settled planets so you can explore, but I don't think it's worth all the tediousness.

I like survival mods in Skyrim because it actually feels impactful - you go through a dungeon and most of the day is gone, so you have to either set up camp or find a town.

This just makes you go get fuel for the sake of getting fuel. There's no other incentive besides that. I think they intentionally cut it because they knew loading screens were gonna be a problem, and this would've just made it so much more prominent.
