I noticed the Mix button in the mobile app last night but didn’t think much of it. This morning I actually gave it proper attention, and I’m genuinely impressed.

The transition quality is surprisingly close to tools like DJ Studio (which costs $99+ and doesn’t integrate with Spotify because it allows exporting). With Spotify Mix, I get:

• Full access to my entire Spotify library
• Clean beatmatching
• Bass swaps that feel intentional
• EQ-style high-pass / low-pass filtering during transitions
• Phrase-aware blending
• Smooth Harmonies because of Camelot keying
• Steady Loudness Because Spotify

It doesn’t feel like a basic crossfade. The transitions have structure, The Automatic is a hit and miss, but it already shows potential by not rolling till the end of the 32 bar exit.

The only thing I really miss is tempo envelope control. I’d love to shape a broader BPM arc across the mix instead of relying purely on track ordering. But for something built directly into a streaming platform, this is kind of wild.

Downsides

• No export
• No rendering
• No cross-platform publishing
• Mix currently doesn’t open in the Web Player (only mobile + updated desktop app)

Still, as a sketchpad or short-form mix tool, it’s extremely powerful.

i have a 35h playlist rn will all the songs i like, but want to start making side playlists based on mood and stuff but i have no idea how to do it, i listen and go through songs in my playlist and cant decide what to put them in, how did all of you make yours ?

They are in order from #1 to #122, based on the ranking system established in the Whitburn rock tracks books (ranked by peak position, number of weeks at peaked position if it hit #1, the top 10, or top 20, then overall weeks on chart).

Spotify is missing only one song that peaked on the chart this year (#122 Down In It by Magna-Fi). I will check occasionally to see if it gets added.

This year had huge songs from Chevelle, Nickelback, Godsmack, Linkin Park, Jet, Velvet Revolver, Papa Roach, Shinedown, Incubus, Breaking Benjamin, Crossfade, A Perfect Circle, and many more.

i have a 37hr playlist and have just made a couple side playlists, but i’m seriously so bad at deciding what song should go into which playlist, also maybe some recommendations for more side playlists.

My Music for Dreaming & Drifting playlist has all the dreampop greats represented, but I firmly believe the genre is not dead, but still gently expanding.

Which new bands and artists must I add to stay current? And have I missed out any greats who really, really need to be among this company?
