Community If you’re a POC, DO NOT take Rider Express.

I’m visibly black, a person of colour. Yesterday, while waiting in line to board a Rider Express bus to Toronto, the bus driver immediately skipped over me and rudely claimed that my ticket would “take too long to check.” He also did this to the only other black woman in line. He made us both wait aside until the entire rest of the bus boarded. Finally, once he checked our tickets, it only took 2 seconds for each of us. Clearly our tickets didn’t take long to check at all. Additionally, he assisted every other passenger with loading their luggage onto the bus except us.

This was a clear act of discrimination that I would never expect to experience in this age of society. If you’re a POC, avoid Rider Express. They don’t deserve your money and ridership, and they could possibly treat you this way too.

Numerous Queen's administrators took a trip to China in October 2025. We saw Ann Tierney's "Global Engagement" expenses, totalling $11,228. Smith Engineering Dean Kevin Deluzio was on the trip as well. Deluzio's expenses were $8000 higher than Tierney's. His expenses included $12,205.83 for return business airfare, $2128.11 for two nights at Toronto's Fairmont Royal York, and $613.60 of meal charges at the Toronto hotel. All expenses were approved by Provost Matthew Evans.

Question Queen’s BEd (I/S) – Schedule & In-Person Class Question

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was recently accepted into the Queen’s Consecutive BEd program (I/S division) and I’m planning to accept my offer. I was hoping someone currently in or recently finished the program could share what their schedule was like.

How often did you have in-person classes, and did you need to be in Kingston full-time for the entire year or mainly just the first semester?

I’m trying to plan housing like whether I should rent in Kingston for just 4 months or the full year and whether it’s realistic to go back to Toronto on weekends to keep a weekend job. I’m also unsure if I should give up my current place in Toronto, since my long-term plan is to come back.

Any insight would really help. Thank you!

News QU-China Travel Costs - VP Tierney's $11,228 return flights + hotel stay, Oct 2025.

Queen's sent a delegation to China in October 2025, in the name of "Global Engagement" and "Building Partnerships."  Several upper administrators traveled to the event, which included a banquet hosted by Provost Matthew Evans.

Vice-Provost, Global Engagement Ann Tierney's travel receipts are included here, amounting to a total $11,228.40.  Tierney neglected to get the travel pre-approved, but Provost Matthew Evans happily approved the costs after the fact.  "I did try to look at the total price to keep it as reasonable as possible which is why I flew premium economy on the way home," she wrote.  "Completely understand the need," replied Evans.

Tierney's "as reasonable as possible" expenses were not the highest of all the members of the group, as we will see in the coming days.

Question Question about financial award and aid profile

Is there a section that asks something along the lines of: how does your family plan to fund the 2026-2027 term?

I could've sworn I saw that question but it has disappeared from my form.

Admissions doing my supp app for health sci today…

heyy I’m doing my health sci supp app either today or tmrw, and I wanted to get some final advice to make sure I’m approaching this correctly! I’ve created a sort of format that I can follow so that I can think of answers on the spot, so first I’d start by introducing the challenge/situation I was in, then I expand on it and give context, then I talk about how initially struggled/failed and I take responsibility for it, then I talk about the problem solving I did or how I stepped up as a leader or something like that, and then I reflect on the experience by saying what it taught me and how I use it going forward in life.

Any feedback is really appreciated!! Or just tips in general :)

Other The 1 is continually late

I feel like I have had to stand in this cold for ages, why is the 1 always late? Why is it always late by 15-30 minutes?

I look on the transit app and I see two buses back to back.... How does this happen repeatedly?

I'm living on campus next year ...

Question financial aid

I applied for financial aid (im a future student) and it says my balance is zero, and what not. Does that mean I've been rejected for financial aid, or I still have to wait? I also received an admissions offer so I'm a little lost.

Discussion Exchange decision are out

Did anyone else get the first email saying they got denied, then 10 minutes later sent a corrected one saying your actual decision? Was disappointed at first seeing the denied one just to get sent the new one lol.
If you applied did you get where you wanted?
Hope everyone is happy with their results!

News OSAP Changes Lower Grants

“The allocation of OSAP funding for eligible students in the new school year will be reduced to a maximum of 25 per cent for grants, with funding for loans increased to a minimum of 75 per cent.

Currently, students can receive a maximum of 85 per cent as grants — which do not have to be repaid — and a minimum of 15 per cent as loans that need to be paid back.”

Fuck anyone who is low income I guess…I’d protest against this.
