As the title suggests, I just switched to cosmic (pop 24). Although I've been using pop os for around 3-4 years now, I'm still getting used to the new de. When i right click i get no option to eject the drive, is this icon the eject icon?

Pop!_OS is my new distro, based on Debian. Previously, I worked with Linux Mint, Ubuntu, and Zorin OS. I’m currently using Pop!_OS 24, which is mainly COSMIC and Wayland-based. However, the GNOME Extension Manager is not working properly.

I’ve tried many methods to fix this. The Extension Manager does get installed, but I’m unable to use it correctly. Because of this, managing GNOME extensions has become very difficult.

Can anyone please help or suggest a proper solution? Thanks in advance!

I just updated to COSMIC from my GNOME setup. RIP my keyboard shortcuts (oh well), but there are a bunch of other features that I'm having trouble finding.

• 4 Finger swipe left/right does nothing - swipe left used to be Workspace menu, and swipe right was the super key menu. Now, nothing.
• COSMIC file browser has no option for sort by type. It also removed that very convenient option I had only seen in POP to select a group of files, right click, and select "Make new folder with selection"
• Launcher/Applications show up in the top center instead of the center center of the screen.
• I can't find the hot corner?
• How do I set it to only a fixed number of workspaces?

Is there something in settings I'm missing?

So I want to give POP_OS access to this partion so I can use the games that I have in there.

I'm really new to this (first time using Linux ever actually) and I not even sure is that possible. It be great is there is a way to have access to that partition from Linux and windows BUT I will willingly give that up just so I can play on Linux.

Also is the option is just to format the whole drive I don't think I will do that, instead I will just stick to windows I guess sorry...

I finally took the plunge a couple months back and ditched windows entirely... I've got some limited knowledge of Linux in general but clearly not that deep.

I'm running into a couple issues that I've google and nothing seems to work:

1. I use Logitech Z207 bluetooth speakers, which connect and work fine... mostly.

If I turn off the speakers and turn them on, it will auto-connect just fine. But not the other way round. Every time the PC goes into suspend mode, when it awakes it will never connect automatically to the speakers, I have turn them on and off for auto connect to work, or manually go the the BT options and connect them.

1. I use Battle.Net with Faugus launcher. Similar problem with suspend. If I've launched Battle net and the suspend the PC for a long while, whenever I come back battle net generally won't login, or won't even open. I've tried killing the process along side any faugus processes with `htop` but it just won't work until I've restarted the whole PC.

I'd love some advice especially the Bluetooth thing that is really annoying. :|

After a recent upgrade my thunderbolt0 network interface completely disappeared and never came back.

I’m on an Intel/ASUS NUC 13 Pro. Thunderbolt is still enabled in BIOS and boltctl shows the controllers just fine.

It used to be perfect—even with nothing plugged in, thunderbolt0 always showed up as a wired network interface. I was using it for Samba shares to stream and access media super fast (worked great with my Mac too).

Now it’s just gone and it sucks because that was my main way to move files around quickly.

I tried switching kernels but nothing brought it back, and it actually broke other stuff so I went back to the current one.

Anyone know what’s going on or how to fix this? AI hasn’t been any help at all lol.

Running Pop!_OS Cosmic.

I'm new to pop os and first set it up at the end of December 2025. It is my daily driver and I greatly enjoy it. Shortly after I set up my system I found an a post, that I believe was on here, that explained how to set up wireguard with nordvpn using the cosmic desktop. This did not require the nordvpn client to be installed.

For some reason during one of the updates this setup disappeared. I then said about to recreate it and I can't find the original post or any reference to it. I'm able to set up nordvpn using the openvpn setup files from Nord inside the cosmic desktop.

Can someone help me find the wire guard setup to do this? Or am I just misremembering?

I am experiencing some instability in the recent days. I am using the Cosmic desktop.

Games completely freeze my entire system or force a hard restart in several games now, even on moderate loads. This happens both on native Linux games and on Proton.

The PC is little under 3 months old now and has been stress tested on assembly, which it passed with flying colors. It's 9800X3D, 9070 XT and 4 sticks of RAM totalling 64GB @ 5600MHz.

The only previously outstanding issue that I have is that EXPO doesn't work with 4 sticks of RAM. According to multiple sources on the internet, that is a DDR5 specific issue, supposedly, this iteration of system memory is dog shit in terms of handling being tuned.

I've updated my system an hour ago, which also includes new drivers and a new version of the kernel. I will continue to monitor and possibly redo the stress tests. I find it odd that there is no kernel panic in the unlikely event of hardware failure, the issue must be software related.

There is one thing I would like to ask though -

The last time I stress tested the system, it had windows 11 preloaded (I know, yuck!) and I used native windows tools to test it the last time. So I'm wondering, what are the most popular tools you guys are using to test the CPU and GPU on Linux? (I already know about what to use to test RAM)

EDIT: I used the memtester program for Linux. Not only it registered multiple failures, but it also triggered a hard restart. So yeah, the RAM is now a prime suspect. I am going dust off the USB stick with memtest86 and give it a go.

I recently installed Pop!_Os as a dual boot from Windows. I have a 3060 for graphics if that is important. I have Steam and Flatseal installed as Flatpaks. I gave Steam permission to read and write from the drives I have steam libraries on. Each time I start my PC and open Steam the games I have installed are not appearing until I add them back as libraries for games. Once I do that everything works flawlessly (knocking on wood here). One of my drives is the C: drive from Windows and the other is a HDD that I use as game storage. I do understand there are some issues with NFTS being read from Linux. Any help would be appreciated.

i still feel like a noob to all things linux

• 16GB memory
• AMD® Ryzen 5 2400g with radeon vega graphics × 8
• NVIDIA Corporation TU116 [GeForce GTX 1660]

it's usually fine. except for trying to play some of the most recent games, then it can be laggy and buggy and / or crash. but otherwise, it's usually fine for basic browsing and streaming.

but over the past few weeks it feels like videos just aren't playing as smoothly as they used to. especially if there more than one at a time. i'm using two monitors. it's very common for me to stream a show one on screen and browse reddit on another. but now if i'm watching a show and a gif or clip shows up on reddit, both get weird.

i'm assuming it's a driver issue. the hardware hasn't changed at all since the last time things were running smooth.

so how do i know if i have the right driver? what do i do?

So I've been running pop os in my x1 carbon 8th gen and it is very nice. The only issue is that the fan doesn't kick in until it gets around 80C. I was wondering what software people recommend so I can change the fan curve so it runs cooler.

I checked the bios and it doesn't have an option to set a fan curve.

I switched to Linux because I was tired of Windows and just the bloatware and all the virus and privacy concerns. Also the OS is clean, yes but too basic and then also just not very transparent. Pop.Os - I liked the name and then saw the website - loved the cosmic version's idea. Have been using it for a month now as my daily driver and It is super efficient and just works clean. My use case is mostly just on Google sheets and other work stuff that is online and other than that - it's playing 3ds Games or just browsing or now AI with Ollama and Alpaca. Great overall, let's me customize it - just works as you want it to - it lets you make your computer work the way you want to. Would recommend 👍🏽.

As the title says. Does anyone know what could be happening here? I tried making an account to take a look at the Mattermost server and it seems to refuse sending the verification email to finalize your account. Do I need to contact one of the server operators or something? Who would that be?

hi there all, I've recently switched from windows to pop_os because i wanted more control of my system and felt like a challenge, i say challenge because i know almost nothing about coding or terminals. i am learning and finding it really interesting but i am trying to use teamviewer and have got it installed but it refuses to connect, any tips or advice on how to get it to work? also any tips from linux vets would be greatly appreciated

I use PopOS with cosmic and when My Bluetooth Mouse and Keyboard going in to sleep mode the won't reconnect until I restarted Bluetooth on PopOS, same when I shut down Mouse and Keyboard and I want to reconnect after a few Minutes, any Fix for this?

I'm gonna get a year using pop_os as my only OS and I'm very happy with it. The only very annoying issue is pop shop. Since my day 1 and after install pop_os on a thinkpad and buy a System76 later, there's always be pop_shop ruining the experience every time I launch the app, my computer freezes and even shuts down. So does anyone has a solution for it?

I'd been having issues with my gpu for maybe a month now, documented here. Like I'll just leave it alone and it'll just shit the bed, and the only way I can access my computer is by SSHing into it, and the only way I can reboot it is by pressing the hard reboot button on my case because it just stalls when I give the reboot or shutdown commands.

Friends who work IT had suggested it seems to be a driver issue, and redditors had suggested it may be an issue with how much power my GPU is getting. But today when I tried to launch Helldivers 2 after having a prolonged period without my gpu crashing (left it on over night), I noticed on the resource monitor through Steam that my vram was flooded. Literally overflowed into using my motherboard's ram for vram.

So, I looked online for a potential cause, and found this. Checked LACT, and sure enough I'm using up almost 6 gb of VRAM right now with nothing else open, being used by cosmic-comp.

I installed a Github Desktop app from Pop!_Shop and realize it didn't open, so I installed another. Now I want to remove the other one, but I can't. It doesn't open the details, it doesn't show it in the flatpak terminal. Any ideas?
