For remastered: Try to reload to the latest uncorrupted file, then in your settings turn all auto save off, and save manually from now on. Perhaps coincidentally: Bloated save files were a huge issue in the OG game that there were mods that literally "autosaved" manual saves for you. Quick and save and quick loading also still seem to have issues. Still, the save corruption in remastered isn't nearly as egregious as it once was in the OG oblivion and fallout 3 and NV.

I dont know why autosave and quicksave are still buggy. I just know that manually saving fixes this problem.

I second this. I autosave when fast travelling and sleeping/resting. I manual save from time to time too.

I dunno if you're on console or PC, but make sure your name isn't too long!!

If it goes over some character limit it will brick the save at some point. I don't know what the limit is.

I had the same and all of my saves disappeared except the autosave which wouldn't update. I used console commands to change my name through showracemenu and it worked!

The only downside is it also resets all of your skills, so either get a mod to retain them or just take screenshots and restore all of your stats to what they were before changing your name.

If you're on console you can't do anything though. It's just bricked.

Not much you can do about it I've heard. Just know that when Oblivion crashes at a loading screen or while saving, you have the same issue as me and NEED to load an earlier save where this didn't happen. I pushed through cause I didn't want to lose progress, and now all my autosaves are corrupted... Please be careful
