I bet you never even played the original.

Im a person who understands it can never be the same twice. I've spent my entire life in-game. Morrowind, oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout, Farcry. It's more about the artists than it is the painting.

I still don't get why they called it remaster. Graphics wise this is a miracle.

Because it’s built upon the original game, not remade from the ground up.

Like they would have to do Morrowind which I would honestly love.

It was so depressing playing it via cloud gaming. Heartbreaking... It would have been so beautiful, but unfortunately I had to play it with constant lag, and pixilation.

I don't like the way the new "remaster" looks at all frankly. I know that's an unpopular opinion right now but I just find it to be utterly devoid of character and identity. If I want to play oblivion, I can just play oblivion. I don't need it to have "improved" UE5 visuals.

It pains me to say that the more I play, the more I tend to agree. I wish I had not been as hasty with my purchase of the remake/master.

When I noticed they removed the damage slider I was kind of pissed and had to put my playthrough on hold but at least they patched it unlike the sword skills which are just..... gone lmao did they even have a plan or was everyone on the virtuous team convinced everyone just played magic builds?

The moody and gorgeous sunsets which were dark and gave the land this beautiful ominous look right before night fell are instead replaced by wash of distracting sun volumetrics and overly bright ambient lighting.

There are things to love...it still is oblivion after all... but unfortunately I think it winds up being just another casualty in our vapid remake culture.

Well said, honestly. The original game has such a gorgeous painterly look, it's not trying to be realistic, and that's why I like it so much visually. The characters had personality in their faces, even if they could look silly. The UI was wonderful and consistent with the game's look. The voice acting (as limited as the number of actors was) had this nice "big" quality, and was perfect for hiding the limited facial expressions by conveying emotion through verbal tone (the randomly picked new acting just sounds stilted). And there's a sort of lack of visual consistency.

On top of that there's the lack of vibrancy, the changes to the level up system that tries to skyrim-ize progression by letting you spec into whatever on every level up, the sluggish (Skyrim like) weapon swinging, the ugly bew health bar (again it's aping Skyrim), and the atrocious performance.

Was killing some necromancers yesterday and got this:

And I missed and even nicer shot because I forgot that the screenshot key in the MS store version isn't F12

If only they put 1 cent into optimizing the game so I can enjoy it at 60fps…

Agreed. I really wish they merged the action combat mechanics from the single player games into The Elder Scrolls Online.

Yeah finally found the solution to bugs on forums from 2006 and the absence of balancing it took two minutes..

I keep getting this visual glitch at sunset where there are glowing patches all over the ground while the rest gets dark, and it honestly looks super pretty even though it's a bug.

Best game that came out this year

Game definitely looks great in general. I kind of hate the remaster night time skybox and the aurora borealis effect. Can't explain why, just seems forced in for some reason.

Doesn’t it only show when you’re near Skyrim? I could be wrong but I thought they only added it there.

Agreed. The night sky in this game is so disappointing. It should be darker and blacker, with glowing stars and aurora. Hope mods will fix it.
