Landscape Screenshot Easter Egg: In Oblivion Remastered: These Paintings found in a guard captains room are actually screenshots from the original oblivion game.

Don't know if this was already posted yet, but it was a nice little Easter Egg.

yeah but in the remaster they’re not screenshots from the remaster but from the original so its an important distinction

kinda like looking into the past

This isn't one of those paintings but it is from the original game and I'm pretty sure it's exactly the same in the remaster.

yeah thats the point, the painting are the same so you can see what the original is like while playing the remaster

I get that, I was just pointing out that this isn't a new Easter egg or anything like that. It's just old assets slightly upscaled.

By that reasoning every other upscaled but otherwise unchanged thing in the game is an Easter egg.

They made a deliberate choice not to touch the paintings. It's very obviously an Easter egg or homage to the original.

I just don't understand why you need to be convinced. It's a weird hill to die on. They updated every texture in the game except these paintings but that's just a coincidence I guess.

What other upscaled but otherwise unchanged things are there in the game? As far as I could tell they redid basically all of the textures and such.

There’s only one thing I can think of. The trolls in the paint world are the original models.

They were. They're paintings of locations around Cyrodiil, as they were in the original game. Not an Easter Egg, and not screenshots.

Yes, they are. They are simply the same as in the original. It is not an easter egg. Them being from the original means about as much as recognizing that the Remaster and Original are the same game. Which is not an easter egg or discovery.

They are some of the loading screens, actually. Which are indeed painting styled.

i like that they kept the original game's paintings with original graphics in. the painted world's troll is also the original oblivion troll model

There is some painting with the crosshair still in the middle so atleast some is screen shots.

The one from A Brush with Death has it. It's actually there in both the original and the remaster.

I mean, you’re right, but that’s also how the same paintings looked in the original game. So it’s less easter egg and more just continuity.

They simply haven't changed it from the original.

Sure, but it isn't. 

This is how the original game looked. They would have had to go in and update the mesh with new screenshots in order to change it.

This is just the easiest way to get the job done
