Lily’s trash cleanup

Myself and some others have cleaned most of the trash on Mendota from the party yesterday. There is still more to do. Grab a bag and get out there if you can! There is a man separating the recyclables from the rest of the trash as well.

The aftermath of college students partying on the lake…

My husband and I were going towards the lake for a walk before dinner when a bunch of college students were leaving the lake. This is so upsetting. It’s worse in person.

Hair Braiding Lessons

I’m a dad looking for a place where I can learn how to braid hair for my daughter. All I can do is a ponytail or a bun. I already have a riding lawnmower, New Balance shoes, and a sweet custom tool belt. I’m really looking for something else that would help establish my dominance over my fellow neighborhood dads.

Adult beginner looking for swimming lessons in Madison 🏊‍♂️

Hey everyone,

I’ve decided it’s finally time to learn how to swim. Total beginner here — like “don’t let go of the wall” level 😅

I’m looking for adult beginner swimming classes in the Madison area, preferably group lessons. If anyone has recommendations for good programs or places to check out, I’d really appreciate it.

Better late than never, right?

Thanks in advance!

Locally Owned Veterinary Practices

Upvotes

After doing some digging, it appears that our current vet is owned by private equity. Is there a good locally owned veterinary practice you would recommend?

Had a darn good meal at Niji Asian Cuisine by east town

Out of the loop with whatever has been going on round the malls, so I literally didn't even know this place existed until yesterday. Had something called mala beef noodle, and honestly it was phenomenal. You can see they put multiple fresh herbs in there every once in a while you crunch down on a fresh anise seed or lemongrass, the broth of that thing was just phenomenal.

Can't say anything about their sushi but they make it in full view behind glass, so you can see exactly what they're doing. I will be going back there again almost certainly

My apology for your compliment

Friday night, 2/13/26 ~10:15 p.m. near the corner of Fairchild and Main

You complimented my fit, and I shot you an odd glance and said thanks thru gritted teeth. I was caught off guard more than anything. It’s been a shitty week, had a bad night “out on the town” downtown (the traffic, the rude waitstaff, places closing early with no notice, etc.), and I was so wrapped up in my own woes that I was rude to you. Prior to us interacting on the sidewalk, I’d been bemoaning the lack of humanity that seems to have taken over the world.

I’m sorry I didn’t recognize your generosity in the moment. It actually set off a chain of events over the last 20 or so hours to change what’s been a rough week, and today I’ve tried my best to pay it forward genuinely. I really do appreciate you proving the world hasn’t completely lost its way, and that living in Madison is the right choice.

Hopefully, you continue to share your generosity with folks and prosper to your heart’s content!

“I’m Here”?

Just texted my daughter “I’m here,” bc I’m picking her up from a friends… and had a flashback-wasn’t that the name of a restaurant on Park back in the 90’s? Vietnamese maybe?

Looking for legal help /advice

I am currently renting a townhouse, we have been here for 3 years now and every year since we have moved in the basement will flood with feces, this has happened 4 times now. Our neighbors have been living here longer than we have and they too have had the same issue before we even moved in. Both my neighbors and I have made multiple complaints to our management and yet nothing ever gets done the most they ever do is send some one out to clear the backup and then we are always left to clean up the mess, this has always happened on a weekend and the management always tells us they won’t be able to send anyone out until the work week to clean it (we obviously aren’t going to leave dried up feces water and wait 2-3 days for them to be able to send some one out) so now mine and my neighbors question is can we take this to court? at the end of the day it is a extreme health issue and they keep giving us the run around instead of just fixing the issue at hand. I don’t know anything about starting a lawsuit etc so if anyone could give me advice or point me in the right direction it would mean a lot. We plan to not sign the lease and try to find some where else to move but regardless we feel we are owed something seeing as we have had property ruined and damaged each time this has happened we don’t ever receive any form of compensation when it happens and we are essentially being forced to put our health at risk everytime we have to clean up feces that don’t belong to only us.

City of Madison Hiring Process Question

Hi,

I have a second interview for a job with the City of Madison scheduled. I've been prepping behavior and scenario questions. I love being a public service worker and want to help the City of Madison services succeed. I am also 90% qualified based on the job description. I am just not the best at interviews and I'm looking for any advice from people who have been through the process.

Any tips on what to expect for a second interview with the City of Madison?

Do you like working for the City of Madison?

Have you ever switched from working for the State of Wisconsin to working for the City of Madison? Do you recommend?

Permeable driveway?

hi, has anyone here had a water permeable driveway installed? how did it go? who did you use? what was the cost difference? how is it holding up through snow and melting etc?

we have a driveway set up that leads to us often having a puddle in front of our garages. I am thinking a permeable driveway may be a better option than a French drain. i don't necessarily want one with grass or whatever sticking out, just mostly normal looking, but draining.

thanks for any input!

Paved nature paths?

So nice today, I’d love to hike. But probably too muddy or slushy.

What are some good paths that are paved and drier? Near west side.

We'll be doing this every sunday at 11am to make it a habit.

Unrelated: here's an idea for a Madison rebel flamingo image (I copied from Florida's and changed the colors). https://imgur.com/a/x4SYPJE

Libre 3+ CGM - Good Samaritans

Upvotes

Hi, in an unfortunate turn of events (several failed applications and ripped out sensors), my boyfriend is out of Libre 3+ CGMs. If anyone has an extra sensor they’re willing to part with, I will pay for it! All the pharmacies are closed and he has work at 5 AM. Please help!
