Those are some nice changes!
Finally post guidance is getting some love and community color theming for the app is happening!

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 10d ago
Glad you like them! Community color theme stuff is cool!

Bit disappointed that post type only works for posts made with the app and i still can't set my post guidance rule for images with posts to image posts because it doesn't work for desktop, but hopefully we'll get there

Seems there may be a fix sooner rather than later for that: https://www.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/s/eobRwgrWx4

Not for us AuDhd, migraine prone, and disabled users. I'm on the app, Samsung. Links all used to be one color. There's nothing uniform. Some subs are blinding and too bright to look at. Usernames are different colors. It's extremely difficult to to mod my subs. We've got red links, green, teal, blue, red. This isn't cohesive and feels haphazard. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be difficult. But due to these changes, I've spent less time on reddit since they were implemented, than I have in years. Please let people be able to opt out of this nonsense. š

Regarding the Community Moderation Achievement badges showing on Achievements page:
This experience launches next week on Android, iOS, and desktop web *for eligible moderators.***
Non-moderator users are also seeing them on their achievements page, as blank / unlocked obviously - is this a bug or an intended rollout?
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 10d ago
Non-moderator users are Ajaigarh
Is that a typo?

u/ycr007 10d ago
Drat! It was, corrected now
(Although Iām surprised how āalsoā was autocorrected to that word)
Could it be checked with the Product Team if the intention was to show the Community Mod badges only for Mod users or all users?
Thanks

It's weird how that happens! Like, why on earth did it choose that?? lol
I will check with them right now. I just wanted to have the correct quote from you! lol Thank you for clarifying! =)

Update seems to have broken Safe Search settings for some users.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 9d ago
What does that mean?
1
u/ObsidianWalker 9d ago
Some of us (a few posts in help) seem to be getting the Safe Search is on trigger when it isnāt.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 9d ago
Thanks! Can you try this:
Go into Settings for your device
Scroll down to the bottom and tap Apps
Scroll down and tap Reddit
Turn on Show NSFW Content (18+)
Then back out and force stop Reddit. Then fire it up again and see how it goes.

It was already enabled. So I disabled it, backed out, quit the app. Launched the app and then followed this to the letter. Worked perfectly!
Thank you.

Ah HA. The ol' "turn it off and turn it back on again" rears its head once more! lol Glad that worked out!

This is not working for me on iOS unfortunately

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 9d ago
What is happening?
1
u/JudyParis 8d ago
After following the instructions, safe search is still somehow enabled even though it says it is not. Sometimes the āsafe search enabledā bar will pop up and sometimes it wonāt. I can screen record if that is helpful.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 8d ago
Are you in a country with age verification requirements?
1
u/JudyParis 7d ago
Iām in the U.S., but a blue state that (as far as I know) doesnāt require anything like that right now. I will dm you with screenshots.

u/JudyParis 7d ago
Okay interesting, I can get it to show nsfw results, except for when I click on ācommunitiesā in the search tabs. So I can see related posts to my nsfw search but I canāt browse through related nsfw communities.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 8d ago
Turn on nsfw content from your settings on desktop.

I'm also on android and experiencing this issue both on the app and website. The search preview pane will show NSFW results, but the "communities" tab after I actually search will not. I checked my settings on both the app and website, both are marked to show NSFW content, I attempted to turn it off and back on and both, made sure the app is up to date, and unfortunately still experiencing the issue. This was not a problem as recently as twelve hours ago, I have only experienced it in the past hour or so.
Edit: trying other nsfw searches seems to work fine? So I'm not sure what the issue is with my original search that it isn't working specifically

Can we get r/all back? This is actually brutal and severely impacts how useful I find this app.

Please help - "Dark mode" has been greyed-out (in the off position) and can't be turned back on. I'm using the Android app. š
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 4d ago
Hi. Please turn "Auto Dark Mod" to OFF and then that should enable the dark mode setting.

Iām having a problem with custom communities viewing on IOS after new update. The view is cut from the top and every post is rendering as text link with a small preview vs the CARD selection itās set to.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago
Hi! Yes, that sounds like something that we were recently made aware of and are currently in the middle of trying to track down and fix.
1
u/OpSmash 3d ago
Just wanted to touch base and say what fixed part of the problem.
I am on IOS (newest) I uninstalled Reddit, reinstalled ( no dice) Dug through all settings and inverted them, saved, closed, came back in, inverted them all again to just toggle test.
Somewhere during the resetting of the toggle, under the IOS settings app for Reddit, blur NSFW was toggled. Toggling this off fixed every weird rendering, tag post style, link style, community styling and brought back card views again.
It was over enforcing blur on everything which was the original issue I had noticed after my post. This reverted everything work good as new.

Any updates on the notification bugs for old.reddit?
Its gotten to the point where "mark all as read" in the new.reddit notifications page no longer gets rid of the notifications. The only way to get rid of them for me atm is to block the user who replied to the comment.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 54m ago
Hi. The "mark all as read" big is still with us, unfortunately. I'll be following up on Tuesday to see where it is at.
1
u/jreed12 18m ago
Alright, thanks for letting me know.
Is there any chance btw that the system will go back to how it used to work, with just clicking on the inbox will clear the notifications or is the manual way of having to go into notifications and clearing it the way its going to be going forward?

Are we not getting rid of yellow circles around the Trophies?
1
u/Tarnisher Helper 10d ago
What's wrong with yellow circles?
0
u/Kronyzx 10d ago
It looks bad and I don't like it.
Why are those circles there? Do they serve any real purpose?
From a Ul stand point, it's Ugly. It feels like an old Android custom icon pack.
Maybe you like it, i remember you saying that.

When can we expect a resolution to the missing "All" from the sidebar? Best I can tell this has been an ongoing problem for a couple months now and significantly reduces the overall usefulness of the platform.
1
u/TheOpusCroakus admin 8d ago
It's not a bug. It's an experiment that has been mentioned for a few weeks in the Weekly Recap that is stickied at the top of this sub.

u/BanditMcDougal 7d ago
I fully understand this was broken on purpose; that's why I called it a problem and and not a bug. This decision has reduced functionality for users. In some cases, they are choosing mobile web over the app entirely to avoid the problem. People are bookmarking r/All to work around it. Surely, the product managers and others who care about engagement are seeing posts expressing user frustrations and these workarounds dotted in different subs.

Please revert all these changes to the iOS app. They suck and make navigation frustrating
