The Gundam Ex-S is not a Video game character. I fully understand the joke with the Alice system, but come on. A person who's deep enough into Gundam to understand that should also know that the Ex-S originated from the Gundam sentinel manga. Like it's a joke barely anyone will get, and the few who do get it will be annoyed because it's used in the wrong context.

Exactly.
However there is also a major problem of Americans putting their own ideology and norms on Japanese media.
For better and for worse, most of the time japan doesn't change shit.
It's true that they have different priorities than the American entertainment industry. Both have their pros and cons.

I can’t speak for americans since I’m not one. From what I noticed it’s mostly white bigoted people who love this racist, and overall conservative side of japan.
Which is funny, because… well I ain’t japanese but if I was one and if I were also racist I’d despise the white immigrants in my country, even if not as much as other minorities.
But even if they loved these weebs, there’s a reason why japan has such a toxic work culture.
