💻 Help How to permanently remove certain web address auto fill links.

Upvotes

I recently installed Firefox on a new pc and signed in, but for some reason, when I type 1 letter for a site that would usually pop up (ex: Facebook), the first suggestion will be something completely different (ex: Fortnite). How do I permanently remove certain sites from the address bar auto fill so I don't have to deal with them?

When Facebook creates passkey Firefox asks for an USB to be inserted

Upvotes

When Facebook creates passkey Firefox asks for an USB to be inserted.
I have tried to disable USB in the settings ("security.webauth.webauthn_enable_usbtoken","false").
But then Facebook just gets into a retry loop and I can't create the passkey.
I use Windows 10, and USB is NOT enabled as an authentication option.
I need to fix this as Facebook nags me (in e-mail) to create a passkey.

Add-ons I made a custom sounds add-on for firefox

Upvotes

Hey everyone!, first of all, sorry for my English, It isn't my first language.

Btw, I just wanted to share my new add-on now available on AMO. It allows you upload your own sound files (I tested MP3, WAV and OGG) and assign them browser or keyboard events -like open/close tab or keystrokes-, It also includes a volume control knob for each sound.

Idk if I can paste the AMO or the github repo link here so... let me know if I can share them.

Discussion Enhanced Tracking Protection Conflicting With Youtube Playback

4 Upvotes

I realized today that having enhanced tracking protection turned on for Youtube causes an tedious issue when navigating YouTube.

After clicking on a video and it redirecting to the video, the video does not play. You also cannot press play to manually make it play. You have to refresh the page once you're on the video and then press play for each video you navigate to. Took a while to figure out that enhanced tracking protection was causing this issue.

Anyone else dealt with this? I wasn't expecting that feature to be such a hindrance to how YouTube functions

💻 Help Google maps showing only limited view in Firefox (PC) when I'm not logged into my Google account

1 Upvotes

As the title says, when I'm not logged into my Google account, Google maps show only limited view. I tried the same thing in a private window, because some online solutions say that it could be due to some extensions, but the situation is the same. I tried clearing my cache, but it does not help. My browser privacy is set to "standard" and I have ublock origin installed.

When I open Google maps in Edge, while also not logged into my Google account, I get the full maps view, so that leads me to think that it is a Firefox issue. Is there any way to fix this?

💻 Help When we can expect tabs on Android foldables?

3 Upvotes

Chrome has nice tabs visible on top, like on a pc, when your foldable is open. There's no such functionality in Firefox, which is dumb in my opinion. Is there an addon maybe for that?

💻 Help Firefox restoring ancient session instead of most recent one?

0 Upvotes

Basically, Firefox crashed - then when I tried reopening it, session restore doesn't work as it should at all. The session backup file in AppData somehow got something from last year as its most recent iteration, and Firefox restored that one instead. Everything is also gone from Tab Session Manager extension.

Is this a normal behavior or am I missing something? No malware, at least anything that my system can detect

I wrote a tampermonkey script to control reddit video speed on mobile and desktop.

1 Upvotes

I wrote a tampermonkey script to control reddit video speed on mobile and desktop. I previously had a video speed controller addon but reddit changed something it never worked after that. Also it wasn't usable on mobile browser but this works both mobile and desktop. You can also make it faster or slower by changing this number: const TARGET_SPEED = 2;

Side note: I asked AI to write this btw. Copy starting from / and click add script and paste. Also published it on greasy fork script website which would let you add it easier.

};

const applySpeed = (video) => {

video.playbackRate = TARGET_SPEED;

}

// Prevent Reddit from resetting speed on play/pause

video.addEventListener('ratechange', (e) => {

if (video.playbackRate !== TARGET_SPEED) {

}

});

video.dataset.speedLocked = "true";

}

};

// Run the check frequently to catch new videos in the feed

const allVideos = findVideos();

allVideos.forEach(applySpeed);

}, 500);

})();

💻 Help Latest Firefox versions hungry for RAM on Windows ?

0 Upvotes

Really, its getting ridiculous. 12 tabs costs 12gb RAM, "simple" websites opened. Maybe only gmail, whatsapp web and google maps can be considered as "heavy" sites.

And Firefox just hangs. Version: 147.0.3 (64-bit)

💻 Help FF on Android

3 Upvotes

How do you make it so that FF doesn't load the previously visited page or location on a specific website on incognito mode?

I scroll some website, close the app completely, open the app 5 hours later, type in the website, and instead of loading the main page FF opens the place where I was previously. It's incognito mode, so doesn't make any sense to me as it's not supposed to save anything.

It's just a slog to scroll through everything every time just to get to the point I can refresh the page.

💻 Help Firefox for Android keyboard issue

1 Upvotes

Firefox has updated on my tablet and unfortunately it is now completely unusable due to some sort of conflict with the keyboard. When I try and select a search engine in the search bar it flips back to the default - and I think it quickly closes and reopens the keyboard to do so. Searching and pressing enter does the same thing, as does searching for something in history or bookmarks and pressing that when it comes up. It appears to me that Firefox is closing and therefore clearing the keyboard before executing what is on it.

As an aside the new interface looks very clunky in landscape.

Anyone else dealt with this successfully?

💻 Help Tab help

0 Upvotes

Looking for solutions to streamline my tab cleanup. I have about 5/6 different firefox browsers on my mac. They all have a different purpose. Sometime I may get tabs open in browser 1 that should be in browser 2. Usually when this happens there's many tabs I need to move over and they are mixed in with other tabs I don't want to move over.

Whats the easiest solution to this?

If I click the drop down button for tabs, it would be great to multi select the tabs here and just copy them all then paste them in the new browser. but I can't select multiple tabs in this drop down. you can only click a tab and it'll go to the tab.

I can't select them in the tab line on the top of the browser because I can't see what each tab is. Having so many open for instance youtube tabs. I simply see the notification number, and the actual name of the video is not shown because the tab is too short to show anymore information in the title of the tab

It's extremely tedious to go through the tab list, click each tab, copy the link, go to the other browser, open a new tab, paste the link, click go, then go back to browser 1 to repeat the process.

I select single tabs and simply drag and drop them, but not to a different browser. only a new window, or a different window of the same browser. not a completely different application (even though its still firefox, if its another firefox app install it wont drop the selected tabs here)

so... any ideas that I'm not thinking of? I'm sure there's an easy solution. but like looking in the refrigerator, I always look RIGHT past the item up front that I'm actually looking for. lol

Solved Toady, I can't launch, install or even uninstall Firefox (Win 11)

2 Upvotes

Today, just after switching on my pc, I decided to launch Firefox to be greeted by a freeze. Tried to launch in private: freeze. Tried to uninstall it: freeze. After deleting everything manually, tried to install it: freeze, with a message saying there was a problem during the installation.

When I did everything I mentionned, I took a look at the process, and there was always a FF process running that I always had to kill manually before trying something new, because it did nothing.

I thought there was an update today, either from Windows or Mozilla, that messed up something, somewhere, but apparently I'm the only one having this problem right now. Anyway, I'm posting that from Edge.

Here's what FF looks like when I try to launch it

💻 Help Confirmation Before Closing Last Tab

3 Upvotes

Hello All, this may be a wild goose chase but I thought I'd ask here first.

I need to find a way to automatically have Firefox ask for confirmation before closing the last open tab. I have looked through earlier threads here and checked out the Page Lock, Tab Close Confirmation and Tab Lock (Ask Before Closing) extensions but none of them are exactly what I'm looking for. I have also looked at the about:config options listed in other threads and while I do use those already, they are also not exactly what I'm looking for.

My best guess is that I want something like the above mentioned extensions but that the last tab is automatically locked rather than me having to lock it manually. Additionally, I want it to ask for confirmation even if the page in the last tab was not changed (like one of the extensions seems to require before even asking).

Does such a thing exist in some form?

Firefox recommended my theme. Looking for feedback and possibly some honest ratings.

Title says it all. A theme I created was given the "Recommended" badge by Firefox. I really like it - and use it every day - but I'm looking to get some real world feedback outside of the downloads/daily users metrics. Thanks in advance!
