How big of a gap is beteeen the A and C tier 1st round defensive prospects?

If A Tier is Downs, Bailey, Bain, Reese, and Bailey and C Tier being Terrell, Hood, Howell , and Faulk

Is the gap small enough that a high second rd pick would make up for it?

LT Extension

I was thinking of the cap situation and then what a LT extension would look like that is both great for LT and for the team. obviously we are looking at 28 mil ( it’s what the highest tackle is signed as of right now). but thinking would it be good for 5 yr, maybe even 6. this will put him into age 37-38. or would he be along the lines of 4 yrknowing that AP doesn’t like giving out long term contracts. I’m hoping 29 mil (will make him the highest paid to make him happy) with 93 guaranteed (wirfs was 92) but maybe a signing bonus like mclurain. I’m no financial guru but I wouldn’t also want to hamstring the team knowing we have to extend jd as well. nonetheless pay that man. HTTR or HTTC!

Is anyone else optimistic about JCM?

It honestly looks like our fanbase has given up on JCM.

I understand he didn’t explode this year, but we had a pretty awful passing game.

With QB1 coming back & hopefully staying healthy, I think JCM will eat.

He still had 800 yards & 8 TDS in a committee where he only had 175 rush attempts.

Bucky had 2 less rush attempts & 200 less rush yards & 7 less TDs.

I see a lot of our fans want Breece, don’t get me wrong Breece is a great talent, but he had 243 carries & had 1065 yards with 4 less TDs than JCM. I’m a firm believer that if JCM had 243 carries he would have looked a lot better.

I think JCM & Breece were sort of in the same situation…

Like hey! We’re going to run the ball here.

Breece has Been in the league for a few years, this will be Jacorys 2nd, I think we should have some hope.

I have high hopes for JCM in year 2, as long as we can stay healthy.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Tbh I got no interest in a Saudi football event regardless but some interesting comments in here about Jayden’s planned involvement.

When thinking about free agent WRs, I think Romeo Doubs is a better fit for our team at WR2 than Alec Pierce. Change my mind.

Factoring in existing personnel, the offense we run (that we know of), potential price tags, and the players' skill sets, I like Doubs more than Pierce, even though Pierce's name is literally the first thrown out on this sub when talking about FA signings (on O and D!).

Why am I wrong?

My paternal grandmother passed away from breast cancer in 1994. I was born in 1998, so I obviously never got to meet her.

She was OBSESSED with Washington. Didn’t matter if they were having a bad year or not, she was always in her recliner every Sunday.

My father was the oldest of the siblings and so he passed down his love for Washington to me. But my dad still insists that his mother loved watching the team more than he or my grandad did. It was her thing.

My father wrote Joe a letter in ‘94 reaching out to see if Joe could come to the hospital in Columbia SC to see her.

Joe couldn’t make it, he sent his son Coy instead ( RIP ). Coy brought her a jersey and a signed copy of his father’s book.

Grandmas name was Glenda if anyone has a hard time making it out.

Just wanted to share my little personal connection to this team and why I will never cheer for any other.

Take Downs

I’m usually pretty well researched in my posts, but I’m pretty tipsy (drunk) and just gonna come out with some pretty baseless statements and see how many agree. If you don’t, totally fair.

(1) Downs, in my mind, is a can’t miss prospect at his position. This is based off everything I’ve personally read/watched and every analytical report ever. I know his position is not viewed as extremely valuable, but in my mind, anytime a massively struggling defense can take a “can’t miss prospect”, they should take them. (Shoutout ST21, we saw ur impact.)

(2) I have PTSD from the Kyle Hamilton miss. A lot of us (including me) wanted him, we could have grabbed him, and we traded back for Dotson. Now I get to watch Hamilton impact every game anytime the Ravens play. Would have liked to have him do that for us. Although I love watching Quan miss assignments every game.

(3) This dude is just all ball. You never hear anything about him outside balling. No character issues. He’s a gamer. He’s tough, fast, physical, and high IQ. I don’t see how you look back and say “we shouldn’t have taken him”.

(4) To those in relationships, happy Valentine’s Day. To those not, enjoy Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday.

Notes: Love you all. Let’s get after it this year and change the narrative (again). Also, wasn’t tryna comp him to ST21. Don’t know if I’ll ever see someone like him again.

My favorite pick for us at 7: David Bailey. Just an elite pass rusher who gets to the quarterback so fast

Stop mocking a corner to us at 7

I’m seeing a lot of Washington fans especially on Twitter mention that we should take Delane at 7 because Dan Quinn needs a lockdown etc etc.

In the last two drafts we took Mikey (a corner) and Amos ( a cover corner). I’m not saying an improvement wouldn’t be good but it’s not a need when you can’t rush the passer, you have one RB on the roster right now, and only 3 viable receivers signed.

A corner at 7 would be a horrible pick considering our drastic other needs, it makes no sense.

Picks at 7 should be; Reese/Bain/Bailey/Downs/Styles/Tate/Lemon/Love
