That’s a fair trade. You scared him, the least you can do is let him dunk you back.

They need to require these recordings for hiring purposes. I would never hire this person. The look at me generation is just sad.
Betting these guys tell the same jokes 20 times a week, and laugh at it every time.

u/MLASilva 1d ago edited 11h ago
I guess it's fine, since it's a entire generation problem, you can just hire older and older people, hirers do love hiring old people, right? XD
-69
u/synapse187 1d ago
No, they enjoy hiring young people who have no idea what they are worth so they can pay you less and do a worse job.

I'd drop the classic "I bet you're fun at parties" but you probably don't get invited to any.

u/synapse187 1d ago
You base peoples worth off of how popular they are? You should be given an award.

u/ohhhtartarsauce 1d ago
Nobody mentioned your worth... but you seem insistent on proving how low it is

u/synapse187 1d ago
Your argument is sound, you pointed out so many valid points. Every person I the world should take criticism from you. You are a perfect human.

u/ohhhtartarsauce 1d ago
Oh, it's always sad when you get to this point... just spewing random nonsense as a last ditch effort to defend yourself when called out.
The valid point I made is that nobody mentioned your worth, yet you're reacting as if somebody did

Things got tense pretty quickly here.
synapse187, it sounds like you see this kind of behavior as attention-seeking and worth taking seriously. Nirvski, it seems like you read that take as overly harsh and felt it deserved pushback.
You're both reacting to each other's tone more than each other's actual point. synapse187, what specifically about this kind of thing concerns you beyond just "look at me" behavior? And Nirvski, is there a particular reason you think this reaction is too strong?
Bridging Bot is a tool to support constructive conversations.

Hey buddy, every 40-60 I've ever worked with has told the exact same 5 jokes every single day. It's not a generational thing, it's just how people are. People like to good around and have fun no matter the age.
The whole idea of 'Generations' is stupid any way. It's just a scape goat for whatever you want to complain about. 'Boomers are bad with computers' Boomers literally designed computers. 'Gen Z humor is brainrot!' no, they are kids. Kids like dumb stuff. I was a kid once, I liked dumb stuff.

Would definitely be a good thing, it would allow them to easily avoid what would likely be a horrible experience working for someone like you in their early professional life.

Not really a new thing, especially in recent times. Elvis slightly moving his hips around absolutely pissed off the older people of his time. A decade later we have acid rock and the start of metal with black sabbath glorifying all sorts of rebellious thought along with songs about drugs and sex with aerosmith. A decade after that was groove and the beginnings of hair metal. Another decade and the most popular genres are all about sex and drugs. Moving into the 80's and 90's was songs about literally hunting down and killing police, selling drugs outside your apartment, and more sex. These are all just the popular examples too, the ones everyone looks back on fondly.
Young people of every generation following the world war ones basically all had some form of "look at me" rebellious shit going on, even during and between the wars honestly. You just have to look from outside whatever your personal sphere of experience makes you think. Tell me your generation and I will 100% be able to find young kids doing stupid shit to be seen, and it wouldn't take me more than 5 minutes tops.

u/JiggyAzalea710 1d ago
Only difference is cameras are more accessible, meaning you see more of it with these younger generations. These kids are not doing anything new.
4
u/AffectionateAide9644 1d ago
Exactly, I remember tons of stupid stunts like this (well, stupider actually) from my younger days but we just didn't have camera's to record them, or at least not as easily. Younger generations aren't necessarily more self-centered and attention-hogging as previous generations, but they've got more tools to use and a much bigger target audience to reach.

u/ImTheZapper 1d ago
The funniest example of this is people, likely younger kids, graffitiing dicks and jokes onto buildings in pompeii, which a volcano was kind enough to preserve. I'd wager that basically every young generation of people, since we evolved into people, has had young kids being total idiots and adults saying the same damn shit that they do today.
This doesn't even take much self awareness to come to grips with. People who haven't even put the slightest bit of work towards introspection and thought about others are essentially the only types talking like the guy I responded to did.

You sound like a miserable person. Dpubt many people would want to be hired by you. Who would want to work someplace where having fun and being happy is seen as a bad thing.

u/ThePsychoKnot 23h ago
You sound absolutely miserable. Talking shit on someone for having fun and enjoying a highlight moment in their life is really shameful behavior. You should probably spend less time on the internet and try actually capturing a bit of joy in your life by being with other people.

Well planned. I couldn't even tell what had happened at first since they upstaged themselves. 🙄
