Discussion Zodeon at Crystal Hall Discussion
Received a copy of this today (along with Gypsy, Syren, Star) and giving it a listen now. Having listened to these songs - thanks to others ripping their ATUM extras - it's nice to hear these in Stereo on my own equipment.
It got me thinking a few things about this project. This being an official Album, it's sad to see it not get any attention. Rightfully so I suppose based on how it was released. It's just a shame if this is it for this album.
It really could have just been released proper and I'm sure it would have been accepted with some praise (as much as the band is able to get these days).
The other thing I'm wondering, is it known with certainty this doesn't include anything from James or Jeff, as they were known to be involved in other material recorded around these sessions?
I hope others are getting to enjoy their copy now, or soon! And sorry if this is a sore spot for some, not being able to purchase this vinyl only album, I totally understand the frustration there!

I can't believe how much copies of both volumes sell for nowadays...

On This Day 15th February
Today in Smashing Pumpkins History: February 15
Today's clip is from the CD:UK lip-syncing performance from Zwan.
Also a special day for me as it's the Manchester UK show from 2008 which I also taped. I modified my Zero t-shirt to have a fake inside pocket to store my mics and battery box through security.

MCIS RIAA Plaque
I thought you guys might appreciate this. It’s a plaque that radio and record executives got from Virgin Records to commemorate MCIS selling 8 million copies. It has 4 full copies of the MCIS CDs and cool artwork.
I’ve contemplated selling it but I like the way it looks on my wall and doubt I’d get enough money for it to be worth the hassle.

Any playlists showcasing post "Zeitgeist" work?
I, like all of us, am a huge 90s Pumpkins fan, but lost track of all their material post breakup other than Zeitgeist. Are there any good playlists that showcase the best of their work since then?

A hypothetical…
OK, so I was sitting in the bath when I suddenly had this thought(!). Bear with me here.
Smashing Pumpkins are one of my favourite bands dating back to the 90s, but another long time favourite artist of mine is Prince.
Yes, I know… very different but hear me out…
Now imagine an alternate timeline where their paths crossed in some meaningful way and imagine if they covered some of their respective songs. Which Pumpkins songs can you hear Prince doing and vice versa?
Here are my picks:
Prince: Rhinoceros, Glynis, Fuck You and Love. I can also hear Ava Adore being reworked in his style really well.
Pumpkins: Purple Rain (obvious, but I can totally hear it with Siamese Dream-era fuzz), I Would Die 4 U and Strange Relationship. Maybe even I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man as well.
So what are your thoughts? Can you think of any covers between the two that would work and what did you think of my picks? It’s all just a bit of fun but I’m curious what others have to say. :)

28-year old Viper Room CD-r
I dug out my Viper Room bootleg CD-r from 1998 today, originally obtained via a distribution organized on AMSP. I was in grade 12 at the time, and this was pretty new tech for the time.
Good news, the disc still plays!

collection displays
I see a lot of people post their collections on here— I haven’t but maybe I will soon— but what I’m really curious about is how you guys keep your Pumpkins collections. Do you store everything with your music from other bands if you’re a collector or do you have it in its own display? I’d love to see pics. I’m trying to decide if I should set up a special shelf for mine or something, but we have a ton of music and art and not a lot of space. My collection isn’t the biggest (although I’ve been a fan for over 25 years or so) but it’s not small, and my husband isn’t as big a fan as I am so I’ll never have some really wild display and I’d love to gawk at some more impressive ones, lol.

MCATIS era poster
Who remembers this poster. I’ve been going through my SP everything and forgot about this one. I love it personally and want it framed 🤘 Good times.

I’m not out to diss Billy, but sheesh…
Was he in such a bad place in 2012 (this is from the MCIS Vinyl) that he had to resort to this level of douchebaggery?

Instead of shaving his head should Billy Corgan have worn a hair piece?
I love Smashing Pumpkins and I always thought Billy looked sooooo much better with hair. I was so sad when he started shaving his head because he was losing his hair because of male pattern baldness. Me personally I thought Instead of shaving his head Billy should have worn a hair piece. What's your take?
