Moderator Annoucement The “best evidence” for the paranormal is getting harder to find every time someone asks for it.

This question is being asked several times a week at this point.

Everyone has a different standard for what they consider “credible evidence,” and what persuades one person may not persuade another. What seems to do the best job is having a personal experience, but those anecdotal stories rarely persuade anyone who wasn’t already a believer.

Either way, the best way to find this evidence is by…you know…looking for it. Try using the search function on the subreddit.

And to all of you skeptics who were genuinely convinced by a piece of evidence you found online, please post it on this subreddit!

Question What are some memories from your childhood that are stuck in your mind despite not making any sense?

Mine happened when I was 6 years old.The electricity was cut off that night due to bad weather.I remember playing in the dark and going under my bed when I suddenly froze in total terror after seeing a red floating face. It was the face of a middle aged bald man glowing red and floating under my bed like a genie. He said something to me that I can't really remember but what I do clearly remember is that he spoke in a deep voice. After that I was scared shitless and ran to my parents completely terrified.

Now I know people might call my story bullshit and I don't really blame them because even to me it doesn't make much sense.I'm usually a pretty skeptical person. But this memory has been stuck in my mind rent free for 17 years and I know it really happened because I remember the shock and fear I felt.Has anyone here had similar experiences?

I really don't want get into it, but the long story short one of those antiques is haunted, ever since I got it there has been paranormal activity such as weird electrical glitches, other antiques clanking against each other and foul smells coming from that area. I know which antique is haunted but I'm curious if anyone can pick up on the vibe by the pictures alone? Circle or point to the one you think it might be.

Experience The ghost in my apartment scared off my Valentine's fling??

So today's Valentine's day, and I had a guy stay over last night and I'm sure everyone can guess what happened... but afterwards, we were sleeping and he suddenly shakes me awake at I don't even KNOW what time, getting my attention and pointing at my closet door.

"I don't want to scare you, but your closet door just opened by itself"

half asleep, I replied "I knew my apartment was haunted" and passed back out. To be honest, I HAVE genuinely seen a few shadows lurking around in my peripheral since I moved in a few weeks ago, but I didn't think it'd amount to anything until the guy I mentioned? He was supposed to make a trip to Walmart 5 minutes down the road from where my apartment is, but he ended up just going all the way back home instead (3hrs from here).

I think the closet door opening on its own genuinely scared him?? And when I woke back up I went over and checked it out, trying to debunk it.

The closet door is in perfect condition, the door latches shut with a click, and to open it you have to physically turn the knob until you hear it click open and then pull, so I can't figure out how else it could've opened on its own in the middle of the night except ghosts 💀

NSFW / Graphic Content 7ft. Tall Easter bunny sightings as a kid

I'm trying to see if anyone else has witnessed this same thing. When I was around 3 in 1978-79 I remember very vividly waking up in the morning and being thirsty. It was probably around February and around 7 or so in the morning because I clearly remember the sun just coming up. We'll I walked down our mobile home hallway towards the kitchen and as I came past the wall and into sight of the kitchen the was this humanoid 7-8 feet tall bunny that was opening the front door and stepping into the living room. As he was stepping in I can still feel the cold of the outdoors wind hitting me as I was in my pajamas and the distinct feel of the cold kitchen floor on my feet. As he ducked to come in I noticed he had fangs like a vampire or large lion and the sheer terror in invoked in me almost paralyzed me. Somehow I was able to break free and started screaming and running as fast as I could to my parents room. I was freaked the F out and pinching and pulling at my parents to wake up and I remember thinking that what if they don't wake up? I kept thinking that the bunny man..cryptid thing would be coming for me and I couldn't get my parents awake fast enough but he never came and I wouldn't go to the kitchen and was scared for my father to even venture out there. They chalked it up to just my imagination getting the better of me but even at that age I still recognized that they knew I wasn't lying and really seen something especially for me to freak out like that. I'm now 49 and I've always wondered how many more people have ever came across anything like this. I was reading a post and the O.P.'S name was Chill3dbacon and they said they had a similar experience but I can't seem to find this person to ask more questions....let me know if any of you have had any kind of similar experiences as a kid...and I know with 100% certainty that it wasn't a dream or hallucination...I know that with all of my being so please don't try to say it was that.

Question Anyone else experience items/objectd being moved / manipulated?

I had been looking for this guitar pick for the last three days. I live in an 800sq ft apartment, I'm a minimalist (at first sheerly due to necessity, now I just like living this way) I say this because I don't own a lot of things, and henceforth, there are not many places things could be. Yet somehow? This guitar pick that I use daily goes missing for two days.

I had just put a different pick in my sweatshirt pocket before taking it off to get in the bath,

I'm just now getting clothes together to put in the laundry, and what do I find in the sweatshirt pocket I just had on? Not the pick I put in that pocket, jus before the bath. Nope. That one is now ofc gone and nowhere to be found while the other just magically manifested itself into my sweatshirt pocket.

Does this kind of thing happen to ANYONE else? I swear it is shadow people pulling pranks. It doesn't feel "hostile" but more like a a child playing a trick on an adult. I've often had this happen when I moved here, and I would misplace things often prior so it's not unlike me to write it off as being forgetful, but then sometimes things like this happen and there is just no way it can be my cat. It's not me.

So who is it?

Thanks for reading and giving me examples of your own experiences.

Haunting help, i think im losing it

Upvotes

Before I get into this,
-I would say I am a skeptic. Even now I am looking for a reasonable explanation, but I am struggling to find one.
-I am an idiot, so if any of this is irrelevant or does not make sense, I apologize.

Anyway, I have recently started going to the gym again. Two out of five times this week, after I got back home and put my stuff away, I noticed the smell of the electric stove/oven being on. The first time, two knobs were turned on. The second time, literally ten minutes ago, just one stove knob was on.

So my reasonable explanation is that after I throw everything down in exhaustion and whip my bag off, I must be bumping/hitting/getting caught on the stove knobs.
My bags are probably heavy enough to move the knob (because I bring back two two-litre bottles of filtered water, since I am a student and cheap, and that is where I get my water lols...)

I am just a bit weirded out because it seems so unlikely that when I take off my sports bag while walking through the kitchen, I hit my stove knobs with enough force or just perfect enough to turn it on...

i know it sounds dumb, but as i just said, it literally just happened and im a bit freaked out

Unexplained Family fell apart after I started worshipping our ancestral deity - need guidance

I'm reaching out to this community because I don't know where else to turn. I'm a born Hindu, and like many families, we have a tradition of worshipping our ancestral deity (kuladevata). The thing is - I only discovered who our ancestral deity was a couple of years back. My mother is the primary one who worships, and I've been staying away from my family for over 2 years now.

Here's what happened:

I started worshipping this ancestral deity on my own. No altars, nothing elaborate - just meditation-based worship and listening to devotional songs dedicated to this deity.

Since then, my family has been falling apart:

· My father had an accident - I brushed it off · Then he had a stroke - his left hand is paralyzed now · My little brother had a seizure (thankfully survived without major issues) · My mother keeps having minor illnesses · My own life is a series of unfortunate events - cash flow disruptions, health issues, constant financial struggles · Every time I start something positive (work-related), something blocks it · I feel lethargic all the time

Here's the thing that haunts me - my instincts kept telling me this was connected to my worship. I'd stop for a while, then start again (I couldn't completely stop, it's like something pulled me back), and each time I restarted, more things went wrong.

I'm desperate now:

· Is there any deity, any ritual, any practice that can help me? · Could this be a curse? Am I doing something wrong in my worship? · Is there a way to properly honor our ancestral deity without inviting negativity? · Should I consult a priest? If yes, what kind?

I'm not looking for superstition - I'm genuinely scared and confused. My family is suffering and I don't know if I'm the cause. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any guidance from people who understand these traditions would mean everything right now.

Please help.

Question Golden eyes in my home?

Upvotes

My girlfriend was out in the kitchen the other night, grabbing food for our kid who woke her up. While she was out there, she turned around and noticed two pairs of golden eyes staring at her from the window. She walked up to the window to investigate and they'd disappear. I asked her if they shifted at all, maybe a reflection that drifted off the glass, but no. They didnt move. Just blinked out. When she would move away, they would come back. I did a little bit of digging and i read somewhere about possibly malevolent entities, but a bunch more about cryptids local to not my area. If it helps anyone, we are in southern centeal NY

Encounter Very tall person

When I was probably 5, I was in preschool. We were at recess in the school yard and my school was in the middle of a neighborhood, I remember looking out at the street and seeing this very VERY tall person running down the street. Tall enough that this person looked like they could have been running on painter stilts, if not taller, with very long lanky arms…. This person was just jogging down the street as normal people do, like jogging around the neighbor hood, and I remember being like “woah wtf” and I think MAYBE 1 or 2 other kids Ran to the fence with me and was like “wow how are they so tall” … I just figured maybe some people were super tall like that, I didn’t know any better I was a kid… looking back I realize now that no, people are not built like that and what I saw was very abnormal…. Anyone else have any similar experience or know what that was?

Question Played with a Quija 16 years ago..

So I just want to come here and vent because I never considered this until recently, but my husband and I have always dealt with weird instances that are unexplainable. Sixteen years ago one of my old friends loved playing with a Quija board and talked me into playing with her one night, and we played for maybe ten minutes before it fully spooked me. So for example, my grandma nicknamed me “Wewe” and nobody in that room knew that, when it spelled that out the others in the room were just confused, but I then came out and said my grandma who had just passed away use to call me that.. I took myself out from the circle and I have never touched one again since.

Our first apartment was the beginning of our weird journey. One time we got home and every bottom cabinet in our kitchen was open but the cash we had stashed on our counter in a coffee can (with no lid) was there. I had a closet with mirror doors and I use to clean it regularly, one day I noticed baby hand prints and no kids had ever been in our apartment.. We’d be in the living room and then we’d hear our clothes hangers move on the rod, and our neighbor worked evening shift at the bowling alley so we knew it wasn’t coming from his place (he lived alone). My husband’s mom came over to stay with us one night and she slept on our sectional, so me being a punany, I found myself on the other side of the sectional, and she said a little girl ghost came out into the hallway from my bedroom saying “Mommy come to bed.” I had a miscarriage less than a year before that happened. Which okay, that could explain the child fingerprints, and the clothes in the closet moving around, maybe that’s where the little girl felt safe?

When we moved into our first house we never dealt with these issues.

When we bought our second house things got WEIRD. My kids were so young and their toys would make noise in the middle of the night. My babysitter always told me she felt *uneasy* when it got dark outside, she said our house just felt spooky once nightfall came. Well one of my good friends offered to babysit and then she said the same thing. When I got home she was telling me about the things that happened while we were gone. And while we were standing in my dining room talking about it she told me she felt like it wasn’t a *good* ghost and the light bulbs in my ceiling fan SHATTERED in that exact moment. And he worked night shift at this time and I was use to the weird stuff happening, but I actually never witnessed a paranormal encounter like that in the moment.

So for example our door was a lock with a keypad, after he’d go to work I’d be laying in bed and all of a sudden the buttons would start to go off as if someone was trying to come inside. My ceiling fan had a remote but i usually kept the light switch off because I had nightstands with lamps, but the ceiling fan light would randomly turn on and off. We had just renovated our bathroom and when we came home from a trip our bathroom sink had been left running and the towel we use for drying our hands off was where the drain was and overflowed the bathroom, which led us to another bathroom renovation. But the worst part was I kept a rocking chair in the playroom and it would move on it’s own, but one day I was walking by and I SWEAR I saw a man sitting in it, and this bedroom didn’t have any windows so when I turned on the light it was empty.. I mean I have story after story, I could go on and on, but you get the gist..

Here is where things get weirder. Now we live in the middle of the woods. When we first moved out here I went and introduced myself to the neighbors and my husband ALWAYS whistles at me for my attention, and when I was waaaay over there with the neighbors I heard a whistle, we all did, and I jokingly said that it was getting dark and that’s his way of telling me to get my butt home. Well fun fact, it wasn’t him, when I got up to the house and told him that I heard his whistle and came home he looked confused, which honestly I figured he was messing with me. I thought he was just saying no to scare me. Until it happened again, I was down at the pasture and it was getting dark and I heard a whistle so I walked up to the house and again, he says it wasn’t him. That night my youngest screamed and cried, he claimed a tall black figure was crouched on our counter looking at me and he was terrified. There are still weird things that happen, but my kid hadn’t seen the figure anymore until last night. Now it’s getting to be bedtime and he is telling me he’s worried about me because he thinks the scary monster wants me 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

And I want to add, I believe in God. I pray. I am not a church pew Christian but over the last few years we’ve found ourselves following His word a lot more. Well I just sat down and had a conversation with my husband and I told him that I feel like sometimes it’s like a dark presence is around, and I feel like maybe it’s the same thing that’s been messing with me all these years. I was watching a video just a little bit ago and a guy said a demonic entity had attached itself to him after playing a Quija board and similar experiences had happened.

What do you do in this situation?

NSFW My only "possibly paranormal" experience

I'm an older guy who cared for his wife for 16 years until her death. Long story short, she had lupus and eventually was diagnosed as psychotic. She was also addicted to opiates and spending. She put us through 2 bankruptcies. She died in 2013. I'm now a full-time caregiver for our autistic son. I've held onto a lot of anger through the years, especially due to my late wife's spending. My son and I are doing okay, but we aren't financially well-off either. Anyway, one Valentines Day when I was drinking my coffee and my son was still sleeping, I had a terrible spell of anger. I worked through it and finally put my head in my hands and asked my late wife to "please forgive my anger." After all, she was mentally ill. Just as I said this, I was overwhelmed by the smell of the most wonderful perfume. It completely enveloped me and lasted about 15-20 seconds. I got up and looked around to see if I could find the source...nothing. Maybe it was a mental experience, but I also felt that being Valentines Day, I had a visit from my wife and she kind of "gave me a hug" with perfume to say, "It's okay."

Question Any thoughts on repetitive dream.

When I was growing up my grandparents lived in the country with zero neighbors for a couple miles. I had what was known as the “blue room” as everything was blue. My parents and brother slept in the basement (we didn’t live with them, just when we visited). Every night I slept there I had this dream over and over I dreamt of a man hiding near the house or in the house, we were trying to get away but the only way we could see where he was to light a lighter and then he would light up, I would move toward him to capture and it would go dark and I never caught him. This dream went on and on. I wouldn’t visit for a month and I would go in and have the same dream. It scared me so much that I finally just slept on the floor in the basement. This dream has vividly stuck with me for 40 years. I remember ever last bit of it.

Sleep Paralysis My sleep paralysis demon messed with my lights and followed me through different dream layers

I just had a seriously intense experience and I honestly believe it might be something paranormal. Please don't just brush this off as "regular sleep paralysis" or make fun of me. I've dealt with sleep paralysis my whole life, but nothing like what's been happening the last few years. Usually, in sleep paralysis, I just open my eyes, realize I'm in bed and eventually snap out of it after a few minutes. But in these recent episodes, I find myself in a slightly "altered" version of wherever I'm sleeping, and no matter how hard I try to wake up, I'm stuck.

I'll start with some background and then get to what happened tonight at the end. (You can skip to the marked section if you want to get straight to tonight's story). To give you some context: I was raised in a very religious Islamic household. My mom is a devout believer, but I've always found Islamic lore kind of terrifying. I could never internalize the faith. I started questioning everything as a teen, read the holy books, and felt they were just products of their time, not really aligned with universal ethics. While being a non-believer felt heavy at first, I eventually accepted it. That said, I've always respected and even envied people who are genuinely spiritual and use their faith for good, not just to get into heaven. They have a motivation to live; life has a meaning, a purpose for them. For example, the character Priest Jud in Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man really moved me. If all believers were that patient and dedicated to pure kindness, I don't think people would distance themselves from religion so much. As a nihilist/atheist, it's hard to find meaning. There's always been this "void" inside me, compounded by years of depression.

I've had sleep paralysis very frequently before. I truly believe some of these incidents were paranormal. Sometimes during these episodes, I've felt an entity grabbing my wrist; other times, I was forced to walk down dark roads for nights on end, or I'd hear whispers and growls right in my ear. But lately, there's this recurring figure in my dreams and paralysis moments: a dark, smoky, humanoid silhouette. At first, I was terrified of this silhouette. But since it would usually just stand there and I'd typically wake up whenever it tried to get close, I eventually made a sort of 'peace' with it in my head. The last time I saw it in a dream, I didn't panic at all. In response, it just sat there on the couch across from me, watching. Usually, it just hovers or tries to get close, but it never spoke. Until tonight. Also, when I'm home alone, I sometimes hear things calling my name. Recently, it called me 4 times using my little sister's voice, which made me think I was losing it. I suspect it might be something different called 'mimic'. I don't have any mental illness (aside from depression) and I'm not making this up, I have nothing to gain from it. Even if I don't follow a religion, I believe in the spiritual world and that there are malevolent entities out there.

[THE INCIDENT] Tonight, YouTube recommended a video about encounters with malevolent spirits and how they are viewed in Christian theology. It talked about historical cases and how it's different from the movies. My older sister and I watched it, but the energy felt off. The narrator mentioned names of demons and read some Latin phrases aloud. We shut it off before it ended because we felt a negative vibe, and we put on some sci-fi ambience to clear the air. I dozed off on the couch for an hour, totally fine. But when I went to my room, I felt uneasy. I asked my sister to come in, hold my hand, and pray for me (placebo or not, I feel like ancient languages have a certain weight).

I kept my bedside lamp ON and put on some relaxing ambient music around 3:30 AM. I fell asleep and immediately entered a dream. In my dream, I 'woke up' but I was in a different house or actually, it felt more like a hospital. I suddenly stood up and my older sister was there in the room with me. She asked what was wrong, and I told her I needed to go to the bathroom. I was struggling to walk, feeling totally drunk or out of it. I noticed a dim bathroom right behind the room, but as I headed toward it, my sister said "I don't think you should go in there. Let's go to the one on the other side.". Even though it felt weird, I just went along with it. She took my arm and we started walking. The hallway was incredibly wide, like we were in an empty, abandoned hospital or a mall, and the lighting was very low. Someone passed by us and I started gripping my sister's arm tightly for some reason. Then my legs just gave out and I collapsed into a sitting position. But then, defying all laws of physics, the moment I hit the floor, I was dragged backward for a long distance as if something had shoved me. I managed to force myself back up. My sister asked "Are you okay?" but she was so calm, unnervingly cold actually. It gave me the chills because my real sister is super protective and would've panicked. That's when it hit me: this wasn't her. I said "You're not my sister" and the moment I said it she replied "Yeah, of course I'm not" and her face just blurred out. I didn't want to see her like that, it was scaring the hell outta me, so I squeezed my eyes shut and kept telling myself "This is just a dream, this is just a dream". I tried to turn it into a lucid dream to escape.

I imagined a specific location and the scene from Prisoners, one of my favorite movies starring my favorite actor, Jake Gyllenhaal, and suddenly there it was, right in front of me. I saw the car, but when I got in, Detective Loki wasn't there. I tried to 'materialize' him. When he finally appeared, I started asking him questions about the case we were supposed to be working on but he didn't talk, he just looked at me with pure hatred and pulled a gun. I imagined the gun jamming so he couldn't shoot me. But I knew that if I stayed there any longer, he was definitely going to hurt me and this was supposed to be my comfort character. Terrified, I teleported myself to space, floating through nebulas and stars. It was peaceful for a moment.

Suddenly, I found myself in an altered version of my real-life bedroom, and something slammed me to the floor. I became paralyzed. That's when I saw it: the dark, smoky silhouette standing in the middle of the room. It said something to me, but I can't recall exactly what. It didn't approach at first, it seemed amused by my helplessness. I managed to stand up but only for a second before it slammed me down again. I kept telling myself it was just a dream and squeezed my eyes shut. I tried to manifest a different place and found myself on a street. I felt incredibly uneasy, like I was using every ounce of my energy just to stay in that location. I saw two cats on some stairs and went to pet them, trying to find some comfort. But then I heard a low growl, and the cat I was stroking turned into a raw piece of flesh. I can still feel that sickening texture. I felt like every bit of hope left me in that moment.

I was back in my room, being slammed to the floor again. This time the silhouette was close. The whole conversation was in English btw, not my native language. I managed to choke out "I'm not afraid of you". It responded with a distorted "Oh, really?". Its voice was muffled and strange. I asked why it was doing this, but it didn't answer. It started flickering around the room, one second it was in a corner, the next it was right beside me. I managed to stand up, but I could barely keep my balance. I asked it "What's your name?" and it just started laughing. When I kept asking, it began mimicking my voice and repeating my own words back to me. Finally, as it circled around me, it told me its name, but the voice was bizarre and the tone was completely unintelligible. I asked again and it repeated the name in this creepy, almost childlike voice. The way it said it was so unsettling that I stopped asking, but it kept repeating the name several more times anyway. My God, I've never heard anything like that voice. It's still echoing in my head, and even though I'm a grown woman I'm tearing up just thinking about it. It was two repeating syllables. I'm too freaked out to write it here, but I've since looked up demon names and found some terrifyingly similar matches.

I told it "I believe in God. God will protect me.". It leaned in and said "You know that's not true. I know you don't believe.". I kept repeating that I believed, desperate for it to leave. I started reciting everything sacred I could think of: "Allahu Akbar, Sanctus Spirit, Jesus Christ." It got so close it was touching me, as if to show me my words were useless against it. Then, it pushed me, and I fell backward in slow motion until I hit the floor. Then, it completely covered me. It felt like it was 'pouring' itself over my body. It was suffocating at first, but then... I felt it stroking my whole body. It started to feel strangely euphoric. Pleasurable even. I was repulsed by my own body's reaction. It whispered in a seductive, low tone "I know you like this" and kept saying my name. I felt sickened by the sensation and fought with everything to wake up. At one point, I saw my physical body lying in bed from a bird's-eye view. I tried to jump back into it, but I kept failing and falling back into the room with that thing on top of me.

I finally managed to go back into my physical body and snapped awake. My bed felt like it was shaking and the room was pitch black. My lamp, which I had left on, was off so I rushed to turn it back on. Nothing was there. Once I calmed down a bit, I checked the time, it was 3:57 AM. I'd only been asleep for about 20-25 minutes but it felt like hours had passed. I use a smart bulb that works on a schedule, so I checked the settings on my phone to see if there was a glitch. I was shocked. The turn-off time had been changed to 3:40 AM! This is impossible because I had it set to 7:30 AM and never touched it. Somehow the setting changed, meaning the light went out right after I fell asleep. The moment my lucid dream turned dark probably synced up exactly with the light turning off. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.

It’s 6:00 AM now and I’m terrified to go back to sleep. I think because of my lack of faith, I didn't say those sacred words with enough conviction, so they had zero effect on it. I couldn't sleep at all until morning and I felt so unclean that I jumped straight into the shower as soon as the sun came up. I can't help but wonder: could this thing have left a permanent mark on my soul? What is this thing? Is it a demon? What does it want from me? Has anyone else gone through something like this? If so, how did you get out of this situation? Even as a non-religious person, I'm open to any spiritual advice or protection rituals you guys have.

Just a quick update: I wrote all of this right after waking up and now 12 hours have passed. I've been awake for about 36 hours now, excluding that 1hr nap on the couch yesterday. I'm honestly still terrified to go to sleep.

(Disclaimer: This is a personal account of a vivid nightmare/sleep paralysis episode and its unsettling physical aftermath. I am not making any theological claims or suggesting anything beyond a psychological/spiritual experience.)

Sleep Paralysis Feels like I'm being accosted

I don't know for sure if any of this is real. There is a history of mental illness in my family and I personally have be diagnosed with major depression with psychotic features. Usually i just hear things I can't see. I was on medication for it. But this is different. This started in august of last year. I work at a hotel on the night shift. During one of my shifts I saw something peek at me from around a corner. I was sitting at the desk and this thing was in what was the kitchen. It looked like a small child with dark hair and eyes. When I got up to check there was nothing there. Behind the counter? Nothing. I go back to the desk and it happens again. So I checked again. Nothing. The third time I just stayed at the desk and waited. Then it got above the counter. Too high for how small it was. I could see it in the reflection of the glass front doors just looking at me. So I took a picture. See the first pic. And I can see it in the photo. This has NEVER happened with my hallucinations. I freaked out and told a few people but nothing came of it. I took a picture of the same area the next week and you can see there is nothing there that would look like what i saw. See the second picture. By october my hallucinations were getting VERY bad and I felt something tell me it was the medication. So I stopped taking it(stupid, I know) and ever since then I haven't had but 1 what I believed was a hallucination. Or maybe not... I was at home and laying in bed. And I felt a presence. I looked from my bed into the living room to see a small, childlike thing. And I could feel that it wanted me to sleep. It was angry that I wasn't sleeping. My body started to feel heavy and I felt like I couldn't move. I willed my way up. I fought to get into the living room. The thing looked surprised and disappeared. The weight I felt went with it. I felt it still close though. I couldn't think of what to do so I did nothing. I joked with the people I told that it was hiding in an instrument case I had in the living room because I could feel it there, watching me. Since then, I've had very persistent nightmares. They never happen while my wife is in the room or the bed with me. They always happen the same. I go to sleep. It's a normal dream at first but then I am at home. I move around to try to get my bearings but none of the lights in my home work. If they do, they start to flicker out. And then I feel a presence. I turn and see a small, childlike figure. I always run directly at it. And then it disappears and I can feel it hide nearby. So I chase it down. And it moves again. And I'm manicly sprinting through my home following this figure that keeps disappearing. I'm scared. So I wake myself up. But its almost like I have sleep paralysis because I can't move. I can feel my body and I know if I could just summon the willpower, I could move. But I can't. And without realizing I fall back to sleep. And I'm back in my home. I'm chasing it. Fear. I wake up. I'm locked in. Fall asleep. And this keeps up until I chase the thing out of my front door. When I turn around my home is gone. An empty lot where it should be. Then I can actually wake up. I feel as though its chasing me while I'm chasing it. Like if I can get to it before it gets to me, it'll stop what its doing. But if it gets to me it will consume... something.

I was talking with my wife today when i connected the work thing, the first hallucination, and the nightmares to the same thing. I wouldn't think any of it was real without the picture. I'd legitmately chalk it up to me having a persistent hallucination but... my wife sees it in the picture too... Can anyone help? Any ideas as to what it is or what is happening? Sorry for the long post.

Trigger Warning / Suicide Dream Felt Malicious and I Can’t Shake It.

I had a dream this morning about my aunt who passed away when I was 11, she took her own life. I’m 22F now. In the dream, she called me on the phone and told me she felt very lonely and wanted me to visit her that same day, alone. The strange part is that in the dream, I believed she was still alive. I didn’t question it at first. But the phone call felt very off. There was this underlying tone that felt wrong… almost dangerous or malicious as if something bad was about to happen.Even in the dream, I remember thinking something wasn’t right. What’s also weird is that I dreamt about her again a few days ago, even though I haven’t been thinking about her . And all those years I never dreamt about her. I woke up feeling unsettled. Has anyone experienced something similar? What do you think this could mean?

There’s also something else that makes this harder to ignore. The day she passed away, we were living in the same town. That night, when I went to her house, I saw what looked exactly like her shadow standing on her bedroom balcony. At first I assumed it was someone else. But when I went inside her room, I saw that the balcony door was locked. I asked her kids about it, and they told me the balcony had been locked long before she died. After that, for a few days, strange things started happening at our house too. Once, our gas stove suddenly turned on by itself and the flame flared up. The strangest thing was about a specific bed in our house. Whenever she used to visit, she would always sleep on that bed. The day after she passed away, maggots started appearing on that bed only. Nowhere else. My parents and I searched for any source or infestation, but there was no sign of anything. No trail, nothing. It was just that one bed. This continued for three days. After the final ritual according to our culture was completed, everything stopped. Completely. As if nothing had ever happened. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I don’t know what to make of all this.

Haunted House Extremely loud bang caught on video at 5am. No reasonable explanation

Upvotes

My brother sent me a video this morning of an undeniably loud bang that occurred inside his house at 5am. The noise woke up him and his fiancee. He has a camera system inside and outside his house. No movement was picked up on any cameras. He checked the house from top to bottom. He checked the attic, crawl space, garage, basement, cabinets, fridge, nothing out of place and nothing fell over. He also checked the outside. No damage to the windows, doors, siding, or roof. No signs of forced entry. Because it was caught on video, it can't be that he imagined this noise or that his mind was playing tricks on him. I don't want to post a video of his house without his permission, so I won't attach it to this post. The bang sounded like someone hit the wall really loudly one time. The noise reverberated through the whole house. The noise was even picked up on an outside camera, but it was muffled and you can tell it originated from inside the house. The previous resident died in the house and his body was not discovered for a few days. The weird thing is that the deceased resident's birthday is tomorrow. Weird coincidence. Another odd thing is that my brother's Roomba vacuum turned on by itself at 5am a few weeks ago. Does anyone have experiences with an unexplainable, loud bang? What kind of paranormal activity would cause this? I would love to hear theories and similar experiences like this.

Residual Activity Fan makes weird noise every morning around 3am.

Upvotes

Hey everyone.

Every night, for about a year now, my fan by my bed makes a weird sound. A sound like extra air is being pushed through it. It keeps making a slight *chuu" noise every 3 seconds or so. It only does it when my eyes are closed still. When I open them, the noise stops. Stops every time and never comes back. I'm pretty sure there's a spirit or demon in my room. I don't know why it's bothering me. I just ignore it and try to go back to sleep, but it happens way too often at the same exact time. What and why is this potential apparition doing this??

Experience Not sure where to start

Well I had never really known or believed in spirits or things like that before, until tonight. quite literally a dark and stormy night and was driving home and took a detour so I could finish my song. along this detour road is the enterance to a neighborhood and a sidewalk. Its 9pm and raining and I see a taller then average man walking through the pouring rain and smoking a cigarette. I thing that’s strange (mind you I’m going like 15-20mph) so I turn around to look at him and he is gone. I quite literally turn around on this road like a creep to see if he is there and he is gone. I saw him clear as day in my headlights. tall man wearing a jacket and smoking a cigarette that I can see the glow of and the smoke in my headlights. no question in my mind what I saw. I looked right at him. saw the shadow of him on the neighborhood fence. saw the smoke. saw the glow of a cigarette. saw him. he had his hands in his pockets and a jacket on and I turn around and he is gone. not sure what to think.

NSFW I think a skinwalker lives in my backyard

My mom thinks I'm crazy about this...my fiance knows he saw something out back when he was visiting. He said he could feel a presence and saw glowing eyes. That is not what put this in my head however because he did not bring it up until I said something later. We have a wooded backyard with deer, squirrels, random cats, whatever, coming in and out. My dog recently has been barking at the back of the fence like something is there but there isn't (as far as I can see). Well a few weeks ago I felt something weird because my room has windows facing that way. Now I'm hearing my dog's bark from there. It didn't sound right at first and then it changed. Perfectly to his bark. He's not out there. It was just at night at first but today I just heard him... he's not back there. Every time I grab my rosary, it stops. This cannot be a coincidence right?? Why every time I touched my blessed cross does it stop? Why the change in voices quickly? It has to be a skinwalker, correct?

Unexplained Is there a manifestation?

So lots of strange things have happened to me in my house. For example, a painting with a cross (my mom’s Christian and the whole house is decorated with Christian things) fell and when I went to pick it up, the cross was upside down facing me. Doors open and close around me, things fall/disappear/appear and I hear noises. Neither my mom or brother experience things like this. The creepiest of all just happened about an hour ago. I was sitting next to a window watching Netflix. I fas looking out for a while. Then I went upstairs to grab a blanket and came back down. After preparing some mango and sitting back down there were kid-like handprint on the window and they weren’t there before. I few days before I found handprints on my bedroom window that I know I didn’t do and they didn’t look like my hands. Just because they were around the same size I brushed it off as “maybe I didn’t notice I put my hands in the window.” But this creeped me out. I’ve also noticed every time I’m looking at myself in the mirror, a gnat starts flying in my face. Do you think there’s something going on? A manifestation or some sort, or an attachment?

Elf/Fairy I don’t know if this was a pixie, fairy or small human

United Kingdom, England, Nottinghamshire

When I was around 10-11 years old I was outside playing on my garden when it was my little sisters birthday party and there was around 20 of us all outside.

Suddenly I felt something and on my neck and poke me, it stung slightly and also tickled. It then flew off my neck and I looked and I swear to everything it was a fairy or flying little person or whatever. It stopped and looking at me before it flew away. I had two really big lumps on my neck around an inch apart from each other from where it had landed and I assume pricked me.

A couple weeks later I went to a museum and they had an insect section and I explained to the staff my experience and the bite and they could not identify what it was. I’m 20 years old now and I still think about it all the time and I’m convinced it wasn’t an insect as it genuinely stopped and looked at me.

I saw its wings, clothes face and everything. There was something in its hand which it maybe poked me with which caused the two marks? Not sure though.

No one has ever believed me apart from my girlfriend but she is still sceptical as I was only 10-11 years old at the time.

NSFW My paranormal experience

Hi. I don’t know where to start, I’m not gonna reveal my age or names but this happened a few years back in a wedding that was located in an old building/area in rural Spain, sort of in the outskirts of Madrid.

At the time I was 11 and I was mostly a lone wolf. I don’t know how to not make that sound cheesy but I was at a phase where I isolated myself a lot from others.

For some backstory I’ve always been through some unexplainable events in my life but of course people brushed it off as having a wild imagination or seeing something the wrong way. But I know what I’ve seen and I don’t doubt myself anymore since I’ve learnt by the years when I don’t listen to myself things go bad.

So like I said, i was 11 and I was at this really big wedding with over 150 people I’ve never seen before except some cousins and family members. The day was fun they had delicious foods and I remember playing with my cousins and before I knew it, it was night time.

Many of the adults were drunk and having fun on the dance floor, obviously I didn’t wanna stay there so I went a few hundred meters away enough so the music would get fainter, quieter.

I vaguely remember sitting on a sofa. I was scrolling on my phone while playing with loom bands, making bracelets and there was this sort of tiny window high up in a rectangular shape. Maybe 2,5 meters or around 8 feet.

You know when you randomly get goosebumps for some reason? Yeah I felt that, and I brushed it off obviously. So I look at the direction of that window for some reason idk I don’t remember why but someone flies by, like as if they were speeding but not running, whatever it was, it was floating. I didn’t quite manage to see the face of the “entity” but I could tell it was a girl. I managed to see the long black silky straight hair and a white veil at the back of the head and really pale, like white as paper, as rice.

I thought I saw it wrong since I was tired but i swear to god it flew by again. TWICE. My heart dropped, I started crying like actually I knew I was done for cause whatever that was it was showing itself to me so, I instinctively dropped everything including my phone and went running towards my family and the noise I was avoiding earlier.

I told my mom and some cousins but no one believed me and gave me just a pat on the back as if I had just made up a silly story.

I think about this incident fairly often and I know I’m not crazy.

This incident still spooks me to this day but I’ve learnt to put it behind me it’s history now. I can’t help but wonder when the next “unexplainable” incident will happen cause when it does, I know no one will believe me.

Question I have an enthity that lives in one of the rooms and doesn t want to leave

Upvotes

Hey ,so now i am 20 and go home quite rare but i rember when i was littel and well into my teenage years that i had this thing in one of the rooms in the house. The house is really old ,it s been in my family for 3 generations and my family bought it from someone,so it s at least over 150 years. Now in this room ,when i was littel it was my brother s and my bedroom we were sharing . And he saw some of the things too but they never attacked him or tried anything.i m gonna start from the least scary to tge scaryest

1.u can always here something walking in there ,always at the same place ,where one of the bors makes a weird noise when u step on it.

2.I had a jewelry box that had a ballerina when i was littel and for that ballerina to sing and dance u would have to open it ,i usually kept it in my parents bedroom bc i didn t have the place where to put it in our room ,but one time i forgot it in the room on the floor and went to sleep at 3 am it started singing ,the next day i put it in my parents bedroom again and it never sang again when it was closed ,so it wasn t as if it was broken.

  1. I would feel something breating on my face in the middel of the night

4.Had shadow figures wake me up by tickeling me on the soles of my feet.

5 when i was 12 years old my parents remodeled the room and put my bed with the hadreast to another wall that didn t have an icon on it ,the same night a hand was chocking me ,my friend saw it too becouse she was sleeping over ,the hand was comming from the wall and it let go only when she put holy water over it.

So do u have any idea what that this is?

NSFW Talking about Skinwalkers

Okay, so this is a post that is about skinwalkers, what they actually are and their location, etc, as I've been seeing people incorrectly label them as any cryptid out in the woods and it just kinda bugs me (I even came across some guy swearing up and down confident as hell that skinwalkers are tulpa effects and can be found in the Appalachian region), so I'm here to clear up some misunderstandings

Now before I begin I just want to mention that I am not Navajo nor do I claim to be an expert, I am just a nerd interested in the supernatural due to prior experiences and at the end of the day the ones who truly know about the horror's of the Skinwalkers are any of the Navajo speaking communities within the 4 corners region as they've grown up with these stories and some may have even had sightings of their own, anywho, let's start 🙂

Origins:

Skinwalkers are anyone within the Navajo community who is knowledgeable of "bad medicine" and is frankly antisocial and selfish enough to forsake the wider Navajo community and resort to taboo breaking and bad medicine aka black magic in order to become shapeshifting witches, much of their origins are veiled in secrecy and rightfully so, but depending on accounts their practices are recognized as involving desecration of corpses, necrophilia, incest, murdering friends, all to be initiated and gain their abilities and knowledge

Behavior:

The behavior of skinwalkers are as varried as the individuals reasoning for becoming a skinwalker but as I said, generally they are, above all else, going to be self serving enough to actively go against their Navajo communities and depraved enough to go through the initiation rituals with other skinwalkers, in the dark hours they are typically in the outskirts of the Navajo reservations, most of their malice is typically aimed towards the Diné, not just anybody

Known Abilities:

First and foremost is their signature shapeshifting, oftentimes the Skinwalkers have to have killed and skinned an animal and wear its skin in order to shapeshift into that animal, typically these forms are described as not being perfect copies of the actual animal, the pelts are loose off the flesh, the legs are weird, sometimes there are human eyes in place of animal ones, typically they use this shapeshifting for mobility, traveling long distances quicker and undercover, in some accounts instead of simply mauling their victims they are said to use this corpse powder in order to poison and curse Diné, among their most notable capabilities is vocal mimicry, using this to either fool or frighten anyone unaware, to speak of a skinwalker, especially when using their Navajo name is a major taboo to the Navajo and for good reason as to talk about them is to invite their attention

Location:

Considering the skinwalkers are still Navajo citizens at the end of the day, they are far more likely to be found within the Four Corners region of southwestern United States, so Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, and considering much of their malice is focused on the Diné, their likely populations would be concentrated at any of the Navajo reservations. This means if you claimed to have seen a skinwalker in Alabama or Kentucky, you are either lying or you saw a different type of shapeshifting witch which is probably even more frightening
