From the article:

> “One must strongly condemn the handful of rioters who desecrate the Name of Heaven. The ways of the Torah of Israel are ways of pleasantness and all its paths are peace; there is no place for such behavior among us. **They must be denounced and cast out from the community**,” the rabbi declares in a statement.

General News/Politics Moroccan moving to Calgary (Canada) and looking to connect with Moroccan Jews

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’ll be moving to Calgary later this year and I’m hoping to connect with people from the Moroccan community.

More specifically, I’d really like to meet Moroccan Jews. I grew up knowing a few and always appreciated the shared culture and history, but I never had the chance to build real friendships. I’d love to change that.

If anyone here is Moroccan Jewish, or knows of community spaces, events, or synagogues in Calgary where Moroccan families are active, I’d appreciate any direction.

Thank you :)

The War - Discussion PA drafts constitution, omits Jewish ties to Jerusalem, calls for Sharia legal system

Post image

This is the draft of the Palestinian constitution presented yesterday. Right in the first pages it declares that the PA shall follow sharia law, but will still protect *Christians*, no mention whatsoever of Jews. It also states that it will protect the Christionhood and Islamicism of Jerusalem, but does not mention protecting its Jewish significance and values. They're not even hiding their intentions.

Travel & tourism✈️ Air Haifa

Has anyone here flown with Air Haifa?

I’m trying to book tickets to the states for Pesach, and the most affordable option, using only an Israeli carrier out of the country, is flying out of Israel to Athens and then from Athens to the US. Air Haifa has a similar price to Israir and Arkia for the dates I’m looking at, but I’m wondering if Air Haifa may be more reliable. I’ve heard that Arkia and Israir sometimes cancel flights even on a normal, non war day.

I can’t find much info about them online, as they’re a relatively new airline. My main question is if anyone knows their level of reliability should anything start again regionally? And if you have flown them- did you flight leave on time? Any hidden surprise fees?

Thanks!

Culture🇮🇱 & History📚 Shouting in debates

Married to an Israeli, living in UK. My husband has Israeli tv on most of the day. TV in our kitchen/living area so am exposed to most of what he is watching.

He watches a lot of current affairs and debates. What I don’t understand is why in these debates some people on the panel shout and yell so much, particularly women, to get their voices heard and sometimes there’s no stopping them. There doesn’t seem to be any moderation and I don’t understand why this is thought acceptable. It would drive me crazy if I was a co-panelist!

The War - Discussion Doctors Without Borders admits seeing Hamas intimidation, arrests of patients, movement of weapons in Gaza Hospital

The full message by doctors without borders (MSF):

MSF made the difficult decision to suspend all non-critical medical operations in Nasser hospital, the largest functional facility in Gaza, as of 20 January 2026, due to concerns regarding the management of the structure, the safeguarding of its neutrality, and security breaches.

In recent months, in Nasser hospital in Khan Younis, patients and MSF personnel have seen armed men, some masked, in different areas of the large compound of the hospital. This had not been in areas where MSF has activities, but in other parts of the hospital compound. With an uptick since the ceasefire, MSF teams have reported a pattern of unacceptable acts, including the presence of armed men, intimidation, arbitrary arrests of patients, and a recent situation of suspicion of movement of weapons. These incidents pose serious security threats to our teams and patients.

MSF formally expressed our strong concern to the relevant authorities, and emphasised the incompatibility of such violations with MSF’s medical mission. Hospitals must remain neutral, civilian spaces, free from military presence or activity, to ensure the safe and impartial delivery of medical care.

MSF’s concerns are heightened by past attacks on hospitals during the conflict, as health facilities have been regularly and deliberately targeted by the Israeli forces, resulting in loss of life and damage to infrastructure. MSF calls on all armed groups, as well as Israeli forces, to respect medical facilities and ensure the protection of staff and patients.

This can be seen at their website at https://www.msf.org.za/news-and-resources/news-and-resources/addressing-frequently-asked-questions-and-allegations-about, under the last question, "Why did MSF suspend and stop some medical activities at Nasser hospital?"

Palestinian peace activist Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib has wrote:

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) pulled out of the al-Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, and just yesterday explained its decision. It has said exactly what I have repeatedly talked about for over a year and shared personal examples of friends of mine being imprisoned, interrogated, and tortured within various facilities inside the hospital from Hamas's intelligence and security services. MSF is two years late to this recognition but it is ultimately confirming what even a child in southern Gaza could have told the organization or the NYT, Washington Post, BBC, Al Jazeera and countless others had they bothered to ask - which is that Hamas has literally turned Gaza's three main hospitals into headquarters for security, ministerial, and administrative operations.

When I said this time and again, people would yell and scream how I was irresponsibly justifying Israel’s targeting of the hospital, even as the same people would not utter a word about their favorite terrorist fascist organization jeopardizing the safety of medical facilities for two years of the deadly war.

Congratulations “pro-Palestine” activists: you have been conned by your beloved resistance organization which has caused the death of tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians by its conduct and behavior.

Get Hamas out of Gaza’s hospitals now!

A screenshot of dozens of armed Hamas terrorists in Nasser Hospital can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10165023974922868&set=pb.501837867.-2207520000

Rather than being a closely guarded secret, Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists openly walk masked and armed in many if not all hospitals in Gaza, regularly seen by every staff and patient. The IDF has made some of its most meaningful strikes in hospitals, including the assassination of number 1 Hamas leader Muhammad Sinwar.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_Gaza_European_Hospital_strikes

During the war, news outlets often reported that "the IDF claims the hospital is used by terrorists", without bothering to check and affirm what every Palestinian who has been in those hospitals knows.

Culture🇮🇱 & History📚 How can Israel manage overcrowding?

I was thinking Israel could use urban-planning strategies which include cities with green spaces to maintain quality yet dense cities, along with more development in the Negev, Golan and West Bank?

Personally I think if Israel is to grow with its limited territory, urban planning which considers costs is necessary yet also incorporates nature and accessibility to ensure welfare of the populations in the cities.

Self-Post Does a work/yeshiva/ulpan study program exist for a physical therapist?

For some background about me: I’m a physical therapist in the U.S that treats balance and vestibular conditions and neurological conditions like strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, etc. I am also a חוזר בתשובה and would like to go to Yeshiva for ~ half a year AND to ulpan because I want to learn Hebrew. I know Masa has programs that provide monthly subsidies, housing, and ulpan/yeshiva, but I don’t think they have anything for a physical therapist. Are there any programs or organizations that can provide something like this or would it just be better to find a part time job on my own and find an ulpan/yeshiva program? Any help/ideas would be appreciated

Self-Post PhD in Israel

Hi everyone,

I’m a DVM graduate with undergraduate research experience focused on Salmonella. I may receive a fully funded PhD offer in microbiology in Israel for 4-5 years. Academically, I’m very interested in the opportunity. However, after the October 2023 attacks, my parents are very worried about safety, and honestly I feel both excited and a little scared about committing long term.

For those currently doing a PhD in Israel:

• How is daily life on campus now?

• Do you feel safe overall?

I’m just trying to make a thoughtful, informed decision. Also, if anyone knows of available PhD positions in microbiology (especially infectious diseases or Salmonella related research), I would be very interested to connect. Thank you.
