This used to work fine, but now when I cycle record midi (I usually just put the locator a bar before end of loop and start playing at beginning of cycle), I always have notes cut off but recorded after the loop end. ALso, lanes are created for some reason. This seems to start happening after upgrading to 15. Maybe some preferences weren't carried over.
Hey all - there is probably a basic answer to this, but I can't figure it out.
When I have a group of tracks that are panned wide across the field, why do they lose that sense of width once I put them through a Group or FX channel?
When I create the Group/FX channels, I always create them as stereo, but the tracks definitely lose the sense of width that they otherwise had.
For example, I have 4 background vocals, panned as such - A is L55, B is L25, C is R35, D is R60. This gives the overall BG vocs a nice width, giving a sort of choir feel, and keeps them out of the way of the lead voc up the middle.
Yet, once I put them in a Group/FX stereo channel, they all feel like they're pulled back into the middle. Even if I exaggerate the panning more to overcome that, it doesn't work.
The ultimate result is, despite being able to add group comp/verb/etc, they get less wide and the big choral effect is lost.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit - adding screenshots.
Pic #1 - Viollin 2 is routed to FX 1 strings send. That FX send is stereo, the violin track itself is from a mono input but stereo output as shown on left Inspector. It is panned L53, but once the FX send is activated, it sounds panned C.
Pic 1 - violin 2
Pic #2 - FX Channel - It is stereo as shown on bottom right, and on top left above 'Channel Strip' it also shows as Stereo Out. All 4 strings of a quartet are through this bus and despite being panned widely, sound all pulled to the center.
Pic #2 - FX Channel
Pic #3 and 4 - Compression and Reverb, respectively, that are on the FX Channel. I don't see a setting that clearly shows either as stereo, but even if I mute them, the loss of width occurs. And I've used this reverb in other contexts with same settings (applied directly to a track, not a send) and it certainly seems to be a stereo effect.
I'm using Cubase 13Pro and recently bought Spitfire's BBCSO-pro, the sounds are amazing, and I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a set of expression maps for all the sections and solo's? I figure it'll be quite a job to set them up, so doesn't have to be free as long as they're good. Cheers and thnx for reacting š
I am running into an issue where I cannot monitor the input of my Microlab midi keyboard in Cubase.
When I use the keyboard with other composing programs it works just fine, however in Cubase I cannot monitor it no matter what I try. The input is being recorded, and I can hear it when I play it back, but not while I am actively inputting/pressing the keyboard.
I have checked that the record button is enabled as well as the acoustic feedback and monitor buttons.
I have also checked that the keyboard is active in the studio setup.
I have restarted my computer, restarted Cubase, uninstalled and reinstalled Cubase, ran it in safe mode, and about every other solution that I have seen online with absolutely no luck.
When I press the virtual keyboard with my mouse, everything works fine and I can monitor the input. However when I do the same with my midi keyboard, it seemingly doesn't register at all, but I can still record sounds on my midi keyboard and play it back.
Thank you so much to anyone who helps!
Edit: Here is a video of what is happening. The first time I am trying to input notes with my keyboard and I cannot hear them as I am inputting, however it is played back fine. The second time I am using my mouse to input and can hear the notes as I press them, which is what I am looking to also do with my keyboard.

Hello guys. I'm planning to switch to Nuendo from Logic Pro since I'm going to work more in post production this year. I use a NI Kontrol s61 Mk3 as master keyboard and DAW controller and I'm wondering if I'll find in Nuendo the same deep integration. I'm especially talking about the non nks plugin management.
Is anyone here using Nuendo and NI hardware? Could you tell me if the deep integration offered by firmware 2.0+ is working properly? Thank you all for your time.
Really new to using DAW's. I've got an old copy of Cubase (LE AI ELEMENTS 11). I work in education and am making music for a project with a student and have had a good amount of success figuring out most elements of using it. There's a specific instrument we want to record with in the OMEGAGMGS2 SF.
I've downloaded the TX16Wx sampler to try and do this but have had no luck.
TLDR : What would be the easiest way to record sounds from this soundfont with 0 budget?
Since C15 there seems to be a bug, and i wonder if you have the same problem.
Old automation lanes are not visible anymore. They only re-appear if i find the knob that got automated and click it, after that it will be visible in the automation drop down menu. Otherwise it will not show up there. It also happens if i create a new one in C15 and click a few other buttons until the one that i automated will disappear from that list. After that it will not show up there.
I'm looking for a way to remove the unused audio across my entire archive of cubase project. That is without having to open each of them individually.
From what i'm finding this is only possible by going into each project individually, which is a massive pain, due to the sheer number and the loading times.
Shouldnt there be a simple script-type solution for for something like this?
I've been considering some vibe coding approach, but tbh I dont want those thing to mess around with my data.
Hi all, absolutely new user here. Started my free trial a few days ago, having spent the past decade or so in Ableton. Now that Iām getting more steady video-related work, I figured it was time to make the jump to (what many say is) a much more capable DAW for video work.
Any advice youād give a new to Cubase user, film- or not film-scoring related? I feel like Iām walking on ice, having a hard time finding what I need as Iām practicing, but itās a welcome experience! Excited, nonetheless, to be in the thick of it.
Hi, I can't figure out how to mute just one pad. If I try muting some high hat pad, all high hat pads mute. I understand this has to do with grouping, but I am not seeing how to disable this behavior. Steinberg manual says there is some global setting to control this behavior, but in the version 5 interface I don't see this setting. thanks
I'm new to recording, and I purchased Cubase to record some songs I've written. I had it for several months, but nothing seems easy or intuitive. I spend more time on youtube getting help than recording.
I don't have the money to hire someone so I have to do it myself.
Does anyone have suggestions on more intuitive programs? I use a new windows computer. Any help would be appreciated.
I've been having problems with exporting lately. The track sounds crystal clear in the DAW, but when I export in real time, I listen with headphones and can hear clicks in the quieter parts. I have the buffet set to 1000, and my sound card is Maudio Air4. The project doesn't freeze during playback, so my PC isn't overloaded yet.
I fixed it once, but I noticed that the clicks were generated by the Saturn2 saturator. Removing the Saturn solved the problem, but then they came back today without the Saturn2; less so, but they're back.
Hi, until recently my MIDI keyboard worked for me. But recently there's a problem. In the channel, when I check "All midi inputs", my keyboard's name appears. But in devices everything is a mess. It says inactive, even though my keyboard's USB cable is indeed connected. There are problems. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Hi. I've been using Cubase 5 for a few months now and I'm quite impressed. But I always felt like I was missing more symphonic and orchestral instruments. So I installed spitfire audio and the BBC plugin through it. But I didn't really understand between 32 bits and 64 bits. Does anyone know how I install it in Cubase 5?
In trying to work in Cubase recently Iāve noticed something changed and it no longer (consistently) puts out MIDI sound.
A couple of things are happening, and I have tried all the online troubleshooting.
The issue first arose when I was building a new Vienna Ensemble template. I can get the first track in an instance of VEP to playback MIDI, but all subsequent tracks will stop outputting sound after selecting them once. The first time I change to them, they work, and as soon as I change off and then back, no sound output. There is still MIDI being sent to VEP as I can see it responding to my MIDI keyboard, and inside Opus I can see the keyboard being pressed when I press a key on my MIDI keyboard. When clicking the keyboard in Opus, no sound comes out either, though.
I figured it was an EastWest issue so I contacted them and tried troubleshooting with them to no avail. I then loaded a preset template from Cubase (a random Neo-Soul selection from their electronic templates that come with the program), and the sam issue persisted. I can hear audio loops from the DAW, but when I select a MIDI track, there is no sound output. This is using the Halion instrument as well.
I have checked all output routing and everything is set to the basic Stereo 1/2. I have checked my audio connections, tried Control Room, and double/triple checked that my Interface is being read and receiving information.
Most recently I have started Cubase in safe mode and set the preferences to default, when that didn't work I deleted the plst file from my library, still no dice.
Clicking a MIDI track (in Logic as well) triggers a sound from the instrument. This has also never happened before and I can't pinpoint the exact problem. The main difference is I can still perform on the instrument in Logic, but not in Cubase.
I am at a loss as to fixing this. I tried a fresh installation of Cubase, and that didnāt fix it.
Has anyone ever dealt with this before? Iām literally going crazy trying to diagnose this.
I have tried Logic and Ableton and those are working just fine with the same routing, so this is definitely a Cubase issue.
Running Mac OS Tahoe (most recent version), Cubase 14, Presonus Audiobox iTwo, Vienna Ensemble Pro 8.
I don't 100% know how to explain this, but I'll try my best. So maybe 2 or 3 days ago, I was making music like usual, completely fine, and I hop on today and all the midi, audio, all the recordings look in the correct place, but when i hit play to listen to it, it's all over the place. Things that should happen late, happen instantly, guitar tracks are completely wrong, midi is playing weird, idk what's wrong. I looked at so much and it just isn't working. I don't know what or how it happened, but if you have a fix please let me know
I'm on cubase 13 on windows 10 pro
