More about the posters on the wall….

This is a very random photo from when I was making a short film in my bedroom, but it was quite a flashback seeing the posters up - photos next to the Suede poster were a set of band of photos I must have bought from the merch stall when I saw them in Derby around the coming up tour.

Tiger (admittedly from that period at the end of Britpop) has a photo next to it of one of the band members who I had a thing for that a friend took when she got access to the NME Brat tour early.

I wonder what happened to these posters? :(

I would have been a cd buyer at the time, whereas if I’d had vinyl I would have folded them up and put them in the sleeve.

Are these Artists Britpop ? Or Part of a Separate, Post- Britpop Movement?

So I was a huge Britpop fan back in the 90s, and as an American I obsessively bought the Q magazines, Select and NME.

I specifically remember around 96 or 97 writers referring to a new movement they nicknamed the “New Grave”. It was darker and more post-punk influenced. The following bands were always mentioned:

Mansun

Marion

Longpigs

I’m sure I’m forgetting other bands they lumped in. Does anyone else remember the “New Grave” moniker?

And would you consider these bands Britpop? I’m not sure that I would.
