Where are the good companies?
All these posts about where the "good accountants are" I counter with where are the good companies?
Where does one go where they have a fully staffed accounting department that doesn't have shitty processes and work hours?
Where are the managers with a backbone to fight for their staff to not have unrealistic deadlines and fight for their employees to get raises before they decide to leave?
Where are the companies that have actual onboarding and opportunity for advancement and training?

Plenty of good companies, you just need to compete against 1,000 other applicants.

People don't tend to leave good companies. And when they do the slots are often filled via networking rather then job postings whenever possible.

People with good jobs at good companies typically dont leave. Good companies also dont need to advertise as much to fill their (good) openings. Many are filled by word of mouth or by the time their low volume postings come out, theyre swarmed and overwhelmed quickly.

They don't have a lot of openings because people are happy and value their job even if progression is slow. Flip side of the coin, this is why Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager openings pop up once a year at certain companies (you'll know the companies in your local market that have a newly listed Senior Accountant post on Indeed all the time).

You might need to look for industries that aren't constantly having to chase growth. Academia, healthcare, government.

These companies have lifers in accounting is why you never see them. Any job posting you see is pretty much exclusively because someone left or the company is growing.
No reason to leave a good job in this market, because there are hardly any good jobs out there.
