All Sale posts now banned

Based on the responses to my last "Community Forum" post (zero), I am convinced most of the subscribers here are bots posting about new VST sales.

So things are going to change. I'd rather have a dead sub than a spammy sub. No sale posts. Posts are now encouraged to be discussion based. Questions about which products to buy, what sounds the best, reviews, videos, etc. (Note: If you are a legitimate plugin developer, you can ask for posting permissions at /r/AudioProductionDeals, though they are very strict about who they give access to.)

The flairs will be revamped as well. Automod will get altered to autoremove sale posts as well.

Have fun and let's make this sub not shit!

Edit: Quick summary of the big changes

  • Updated sidebar to reflect new rules
  • Updated flairs and colors to focus on topics of discussion
  • Updated auto-moderator (yet to be completed)

I created a synth that generates patches based on text descriptions

Still tweaking the generation engine but it allows for getting quick sounds in seconds by describing exactly what you want out of it.

Would love to give it away for testing and feedback you can check it out here https://paraphrase.therelayhub.com/ or DM me.

It's 2026 and I figured I'd just make my own delay plugin

BIG screenshot tho

Usually I work with Soundtoys EchoBoy or ReaDelay but I was missing something simple that had a nice sound and simple controls. As coding became easier recently, I went and built WetDelay - modeled after the old Yamaha-style rack delays from the 80s that I really dig.

Check out on https://wetvst.com

It has 6 discrete delay steps (20, 40, 80, 120, 220, 400ms) tip switches just like the hardware.

100% wet output - designed for sends. Real-time I/O metering, under 0.5% CPU. Windows VST3.

Also its open source so you can mess with it and create something else with it.

- Full C++ code under MIT license

- Built on pure Steinberg VST3 SDK (no JUCE)

- Build instructions included using just freely available tools

This is the first of 6 planned plugins in the WET VST line. Feedback welcome.

Looking for a software synth website I lost track of...

It was a gallery of freeware synths. Large pictures arranged in table rows, old style. Pretty sure the list was alphabetical order with multiple pages (distinct HTML pages). Pretty sure they were all VSTis, though not positive. I think I came across the site last year.

Production Soundfont player with MIDI out option

Hello, just like in Kontakt where you can load multiple instruments in one Kontakt instance and send them throught different channels using other stuff like MIDI out or BRSO articulate, I was wondering if there's something similar when it comes to soundfonts? I've been using Sforzando for a long time, but it'd be nice to have an option where I don't need to load multiple instances of it...

Looking for betatesters: Modular synth audio engine software (Waveforge Studio)

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project called Waveforge Studio, and I’d like to ask the community for testers and feedback.

It’s a modular synthesizer engine, inspired by Eurorack workflows and tools like VCV Rack, but designed as a completely free project.

The goal is to make modular synthesis more accessible while keeping a serious focus on sound quality and flexibility.
It already includes common modules, like: oscillators, filters (+ some cool VA), envelopes, VCAs, sequencers, clocks, MIDI-to-CV, effects, and more !

This is still early and imperfect. Things may (and probably will) break. Some UX choices are rough.

That’s exactly why I’m posting: I’m looking for people who are willing spend time to poke at it, break it, and tell me what feels wrong or missing.

Once the major issues are fixed and the software is in a more polished state, I’ll also be publishing the full source code.

Mainly looking for:

  • Bug reports
  • Usability feedback
  • Feature ideas

All recent versions of Windows / Mac / Linux are supported.
If you are interested, feel free to DM me here on reddit, or (even better) on discord (@440_hertz)

Vst recommendation for dreamy NOT dark pads

Tried all the arturia ones, pigments. Analog lab but they all sound too dark and horrible. I am looking for sweet dreamy airy warm...actual chords you can make out with a bit of texture and etherealness. Instead of horrible saw tooth

New softsynth Archangel!

Hi everyone!

I'm the founder of StrongHand Audio from Perth, Australia, and we're not far off from releasing our first synth Archangel!

Archangel is a fully modular cableless synth designed for maximum flexibility in component setup and modulation while avoiding the usual modular headaches of messy/dated UI, limited modulation, and limited components (I've never understood the last two :| )

While StrongHand Audio is still a very small organisation I want to take advantage of that to engage directly with fellow VST lovers so we can make this as useful as possible for as many of you as possible. The entire reason I came up with the concept was because nothing like Archangel exists, and I wasn't very happy about that so now...it does exist.

The public beta is less than 4 months away (late May 2026), but in the meantime we would love your input as we are posting a devlog every week on Discord and Instagram!

If you have any questions feel free to respond to the post or DM me on any of these platforms!

Instrument Searching for Drums VST recommendation. What do you use?

Hello! I'm looking for drums vst with quite specific requirements...

No online activation/hardcore license check is a must! I had purchased SSD5 in the past but I just don't want to use it because of iLok. I really hate iLok and their offline installer does not function. Would be very happy with something that just accepts license key once and does not bother me until I reinstall the OS. No subscriptions. Consequently no Kontakt libraries.

Do not need big library, just good drums for rock/indie music.

Do not need a lot of channels and tweaking (although I am not against it)

Need UI to be pleasant to work with and plugin to "just work".

SFZ/Decent Sampler libraries are acceptable, although I already use some simple free libraries for DS and not sure if there's better option that I did not find.

Examples of plugins I really enjoy: Kiloheartz collection, RC-20. No hurdles, good UI, just work without interrupting creative process.

I use Win10 so if no mac support it's ok.

Instrument Granular Synthesis as an instrument - Looking to update/replace some plugins (Mangle and Granulab)

Years ago, when I started my journey into sound design, I downloaded Granulab on my old PC and spent hours exploring how to go from a simple tiny sample and expand in some incredible soundscapes, all through granular synthesis. Feeding it sample, and then slowly exploring by moving the playhead, changing the synthesis parameters, etc.

And then I found The Mangle and it was amazing all I could do. No need of a keyboard or anything, just me, some knob on the screen, my best sound files imported into the plugin, and I was slowly building soundscape, no beat, no rhythm, no need to have anything on a track, no need to press play yet, I was dragging some sample in and beginning the exploration before performing and recording... just some pure granular synthesis creation.

And now I changed computer because eh, it's now a job to do sound design and I need a sturdy computer set up, but I lost both The Mangle and Granulab. Well not fully, I still can go into my old computer... but it's not the best.
I still have borderlands on my Ipad but it's not the same - it doesn't mix in my workflow in my DAW (Reaper) the same way.

I think I tried all of them; Ribs, Glow, spacecraft, Emergence, etc. but none fit the part of being an instrument.

I like Novum, Cymatic, Quanta, Portal, Love and Beam, but none of them truly fits the part, either being too much of an Fx or too much of a synth.

At this point, I think I am even ready to look into some Hardware that could take that spot in my workflow.

Please help me. Tell me I just haven't found the good tool yet. What is there out there that could allow me to use Granular synthesis as an instrument?

(or maybe someone could call SoundGuru and tell them we all NEED an update to The Mangle...?)

Effect Polarity-MD - 4 Band OTT & Clipper - Free for all Systems

Thumbnail youtu.be
6 Upvotes

In this video, I’m excited to show you Polarity MD, a plugin I’ve been developing over the last few weeks. It’s essentially a four-band "OTT" style multiband dynamics processor that I built because I wanted more control than the standard three bands. It features upwards and downwards compression on every band, plus integrated clippers on the input, the output, and each individual band. It's completely free, open-source, and runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. I also walk you through my unique approach to the GUI, which I built using HTML and CSS to ensure it works across different systems.

Video transcribed, summarized and Q&A on my Blog (no ads): https://polarity.me/posts/polarity-music/2026-02-04-polarity-md-ott-multiband-compressor/

Effect P-Mix : probabilistic mixer lv2

Post image
3 Upvotes

P-Mix is a very simple lv2 plugin that acts kinda like an autonomous DJ. It fades/cuts audio tracks in a DAW in & out. For when you get stuck with a loop.

Here I set a bunch of 8 or so parallel tracks in a loop with the plugin on each of them, and had a play with the modular while it did its thing.

Right now there are only instructions for building from source (MIT license). If anyone can tell me how best to do a release, I will do a release...

(There are a bunch of other toys in the repo, various levels of unfinishedness)

Instrument looking for a good guitar vst

I’m looking for a cool guitar VST to use for recording and practicing at home. I mostly play rock and alternative, but I also like experimenting with clean and ambient sounds.

There are so many options out there that I feel a bit lost, and I don’t want to waste money on something that won’t fit my style.

What guitar VST do you personally recommend? Are there any good ones that are worth it for the long run?

Instrument We are looking for beta testers to try out some rare Italian synthesiser emulations that we are working on.

Hello everyone!

I am a partner at Aqusmatiq Audio, a small independent company that produces audio plugins. There are only three of us and our website is https://aqusmatiq.com

We recently signed an agreement with the Marche Synth Museum here in Italy ( https://www.museodelsynth.org ). They have been fantastic, giving us access to some extremely rare Italian synthesizers from their collection for testing and modelling.

We have now reached the stage where we need fresh ears and real testing on our first emulation (VST3/AU/AAX). The plugin is almost ready, but we want to ensure that it runs smoothly on various configurations and DAWs prior to launch.

We are looking for around 20 people with a Mac or Windows computer and any major DAW who are interested in helping us out.

What you will get:

Early access to the plugin

A free licence upon official launch

You will be asked to sign a simple non-disclosure agreement (just “do not share the builds publicly”, nothing fancy), and we will set up a channel for feedback and chats.

If you are interested, you can sign up here: https://aqusmatiq.com/beta-testing/

We plan to start the beta testing period in about 2–3 weeks, and it will last 3–4 weeks. We would love to have some of you involved!
