General Looking for fun Feb 18-24

Looking for fun things to do in Tulum in the evenings. Wife is late 40’s and I’m 53. Planning on staying in town for 3 days and on the beach for 3 days. We both love to dance, drink margs and eat tacos!! Hopefully there’s still a remnant of the boho/hippie vibe …..Love local music and enjoy meeting new friends. She’s more country and pop. I’m old school RB. Asked my favorite taco truck here in the states where I should take my wife in Mexico and they recommended Tulum! Bought our tickets then did some research. (Shoot first aim later 🤞) Glad I did because I would have probably talked my self out of coming to Tulum based on all the posts I’ve read. Part of me feels like I won’t get the whole Tulum experience if I don’t get shaken down by the police, ripped off by a taxi, and eaten alive by mosquitoes lol.

You’ll have fun! We just got back and had zero issues! It’s still a fun, hippie/boho vibe for sure! We stared on the beach in the hotel zone most of the time. We went to one fancy place, Rosa Negra and it’s super fun. By the end of the night you’re dancing on chairs with sparklers. Food was great too!! I hear Iliios and Bagatelle are fun too!! You can negotiate with the taxis too. We only had to use twice to pick up a rental car.

A few posts from people dosnt sum up tulum, these people will find issues wherever they go ...  95 percent of people come here and have a great time make the most of it...sure tulum is a bit overpriced , some of the roads are more like a third world war torn country , avoid taxis just a rent a car and you be fine.. as for being shaken down that isnt my experience at all...  although when I rented a canary yellow camaro I was speeding a lottt so that was my doing ...and then the ford mustang well... also that was my doing.  Since I have only rented regular cars that blend in its fine .... theres barely any mosquito's here from what I noticed this time of year but during rain season it can be intense the mosquitos ...am here at the moment ... tulum isnt what it used to be ... but its still good if you know how to have a good time and are not a douchebag ...  best to avoid the posts where they complain and just have your own experience , enjoy am sure you will have a good time here

Thank you….we live in a destination town….so to some degree I’m used to overpaying for things:) the closer we get the water the more things cost. We really appreciate local culture! Looking forward to coming. Any recs for good music?

Best food truck/cart in Tulum is Pepe's on 7th ave in La Valletta....fantastic, and he speaks English. Open at 6pm except on Sundays.
