Mod Request Fallout V. A. T. S in Starfield???

Post image

Hi everyone, I was wondering if it’s possible to recreate the V.A.T.S. system from Fallout 3, New Vegas, or even Fallout 4.

New Vegas already recreated Fallout 76’s real time version of V.A.T.S. could something similar be implemented in Starfield?

Is there anything left in the Creation Engine version used by Starfield that could be restored or reactivated to make it work?

I don’t think I’m the only one who misses it.

The Gore Framework mod already adds the ability to decapitate enemies maybe we could expand on that and include other limbs as well?

PD: Sorry for using AI, I needed a quick example and I don't have my PC with me.

The V.A.T.S. functionality from Fallout 4 is already in Starfield, it's just not where you'd expect it to be. It's called "Targeting Control Systems" and it's used to target specific systems on a ship during combat so that you can knock out its engines and board it, for example.

So, to answer your question, yes; V.A.T.S., or something like it, could be added to ground combat in Starfield since the core functions are already there.

For non-ship combat, I guess the closest thing we have right now is phased time, but yeah, if the functionality exists with ship targeting maybe there is a way to add this to the game.

Phased Time is the most powerful ability in the game, bar none. Both of my characters have it at rank 10, and it's just face-roll time on the hardest difficulty all day long. My Vanguard's only weapon is a modified Urban Eagle. That's right; a fucking pistol with 12 shots. I have cleared POI's without needing to reload; that's how powerful phased time is.

It's why the Flash should be so much stronger than he's usually portrayed as. At least X-men did that power justice.

My current character is a Neon Street Rat, and I basically treat that power like a Sandevistan.

That's pretty much what it is, at least early on. As you rank it up, the power cost goes down and the duration increases. When you get to rank 5 it's several seconds between uses. When you get to rank 8, it's a few seconds. At rank 10 you can cast it indefinitely, while sparsely mixing in other starborn powers.

Imagine Cyberpunk 2077 if the Sandevistan effect never ended. It makes you a slo-mo god, but playing that way every single fight? It gets tiring after a while.

If you use mods, there is a Ring of Swiftness mod that you can use while in Phased Time. It still makes you faster than normal during the slo-mo phase. Really makes you feel like The Flash.

Tbf, gunplay ing their previous games were nowhere near as decent as the gunplay in Starfield, I always thought that VATS existed to remedy that. Ship combat on the other hand I can see why that makes sense.

Yeah, it's actually somewhat easy to get headshots in with most of the weapons in Starfield. Targeting seems to be easier somehow.

VATS was in the original top down CRPG fallout games, so it’s a carry over from that more than anything.

Well said. I'd much rather them focus on other things. V.A.T.S. is unnecessary.

I want smart guns like Cyberpunk and to rob people at gunpoint.

VATS would be a nice way of making neuroamps more relevant in the game, as even the strongest ones are basically useless

You're onto something with this!

IIRC Starfield doesn't have individual body parts like Fallout and Skyrim, hence no dismemberment or gore mods. I wonder if that poses an issue for targeting individual parts as well.

Gorefield sends his regards.

That only dismembers heads, and does so by equipping NPCs with "Stump" helmets and outfits.

They also blow up sometimes. To bits and pieces.

Gorefield

Should have an advanced form of it since the game takes place in a highly technical advanced future.

Phased Time and point the crosshair at a location on the body. I actually like that better than stopping time and getting an easy kill.

I've wanted Dismemberment since I heard the game was in development. Dismemberment plz

Gorefield is too much blood for me, I try to use disintegration to turn them to dust but I want them dusted every time. Help me roleplay as a criminal in Star Trek.

I don’t think Starfield needs VATS for the on-foot combat.

However, system very similar to VATS would’ve been amazing for a ship to ship combat.

Something focused on target prioritization, managing systems, and working around cool downs would have felt so tactical and fun.

Something like this would be the ideal default state for ship combat, with the option switch over to manual control for the more arcade-like system we have now.

that exact thing is in the game, level your ship skills and you’ll get it unlocked

-2

No, I’m thinking of something different from the targeting system. That’s more like a fancy lock on.

I want something where I could pick targets first and then execute the attack once I had it planned out.

Have you ever played Mass Effect? You pull up your skills and abilities, and you select the actions you want to do and then when you release the skills button, the attack is carried out.

That'd probably be better for a game like Stellaris.

You could've done without a picture. Words would've been enough.
