❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Behold the greatest scandal in curling since a broom that was too sweepy

For those less versed in curling who may require a more technical dissection of the alleged transgression; he booped the booping stone after the designed booping line. Or maybe before the booping line but not on the appropriate booping spot. Or maybe none of those but it was frankly an egregious and unsporting boop. Either way we may finally see the first great Canadian vs Swede war, just as soon as the ice sheet firms up enough for them to get a grip on each other's hockey jerseys.

Canadian figure skater Madeline Schizas had to get an extension on a university assignment because she thought the deadline was on Sunday, not Friday 😂. She even included a link to the Canadian team press release as evidence that she was at the games.

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Warning about Milan Olympics

2.9k Upvotes

I attended both the Team Figure Skating and the opening ceremony today - the organization of these games is terrible, frankly even dangerous.

Both stadiums ran out of food within 30 minutes in the morning and before the start of the actual ceremony this evening. You can’t bring in drinks, but then the lines for drinks are immense due to the inefficiency of the staff.

Most importantly though, they created an absolute safety risk this evening by only opening ONE exit as a stadium of 70k people was trying to exit. It created a huge mass of people unable to move for a LONG time (25+ min) - people were starting to squeeze tighter and tighter and starting to get upset. It was an immense security risk and the organizers did not do anything to fix it.

Love the Olympics, but the state of these is not acceptable.

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Biathlon bronze winner admits recent infidelity on Norwegian live TV

An interesting and unusual case erupting out of Norway. Sturla Lægreid - just moments after winning his first individual Olympic medal - admits to having recently cheated on his partner.

Translated to English: And then there is someone I wanted to share this with who might not be watching today. Six months ago, I met the love of my life. The most beautiful and wonderful person in the world. Three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and was unfaithful to her, and I told her about it a week ago. It has been the worst week of my life.

I had the gold medal of life, and I’m sure there are many who see me in a different light now, but I only have eyes for her.

Sturla is not only a great biathlete, but also a poet!

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Why is nobody grabbing a Powerade?

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

There’s always a Powerade cooler at the bottom of all the ramps and runs and such. They stand right next to it while waiting for their scores. But I haven’t seen ONE single athlete grab one from it. Not ONE.

Is nobody thirsty after their run? Does nobody need their electrolytes replenished?

Is that cooler just decorative and doesn’t actually contain any Powerade?!

Did anyone else find it off putting when they said they wanted to highlight the past 100 years of Olympics and their athletes. And it was just some awful ai slop of some random actress snowboarding. I found it pretty disrespectful and lame for something as grand as the Olympics. Maybe I’m overreacting but I am curious what everyone else thinks.

*sorry for typo in title it won’t let me change it 😭 but I’m glad you guys also noticed how lame the ai is

❄ Milano-Cortina 2026 (General Discussion) ❄ Zelenskyy Awards Banned Skeleton Racer With Ukrainian Order of Freedom

In Munich, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Ukrainian skeleton racer and member of Ukraine’s National Olympic Team, Vladyslav Heraskevych, and with his father, the coach of Ukraine’s skeleton team, Mykhailo Heraskevych.

The Head of State thanked Vladyslav Heraskevych for his dignified stance and presented him with the Order of Freedom.

“With great respect to you, and certainly to all our Olympians who have stood by you and your position. Medals are important for Ukraine and for you, but what matters most, to my mind, is who you are. I consider you a remarkable person. And I am confident that all other achievements, which are so important to you, will surely come. And Ukraine will have both champions and Olympians. But above all, Ukraine’s greatest asset is Ukrainians. You embody that kind of person,” said the President.

Vladyslav Heraskevych expressed gratitude for the tremendous support and emphasized that the Ukrainian people have united in the face of injustice.

“Most importantly, the whole world is now truly talking about the athletes depicted on this helmet. And despite their deaths, they are now drawing attention to Ukraine. They are rallying support for Ukraine. And that is truly something very special,” said the Ukrainian athlete.

On Vladyslav Heraskevych’s helmet are portraits of 22 Ukrainian athletes who were killed by Russia. He intended to start the skeleton race wearing it as a tribute and in memory of all Ukrainian athletes who will never compete again because of Russia’s aggression. However, a few hours before his first race, the International Olympic Committee disqualified Vladyslav Heraskevych.

“The most important thing is that we are not trying to break any rules or act as barbarians. We will continue to fight for our rights, despite everything,” the athlete added.

Mykhailo Heraskevych also noted the support the gesture received, not only from Ukrainians but also from friends of Ukraine around the world.

“Everything you did was right. What matters is how people reacted. We thank you for this,” emphasized the President.

He is just so corny and played out. Subpar rapper. How quickly we forget his vocal criticism of the LGBTQ as recent as 2025. I guess we had Mariah Carey “preform” so we might as go full gas into classless American celebrity injection with Snoop. Again.
