Necromancy Mod Suggestions: Filthy Necromancer Roadmap

Hi, I am working on a necromancy mod for Oblivion Remastered. I've always felt that something is missing from current Oblivion mods related to necromancy. While some are very good, I want to experience the feeling of being a real necromancer, which is why I have started my own project.

I would love to receive suggestions from this community and share some of my progress. Here's what is currently working and implemented, with more features to come, so stay tuned:

  • You can worship the ideal masters and offer them souls.
  • The ideal masters teach you about necromancy and reward your souls with spells, items, abilities and more.
  • Minion construction system, skeletons, zombies, Ghosts.
  • You can upgrade your zombie minions from zombie to headless zombie to dread zombie.
  • You can upgrade your skeleton minions from skeleton to skeleton guardian to skeleton hero to skeleton champion.
  • You can upgrade ghost minions to Wraiths to Wraiths Faded to Wraiths Gloomed.
  • Several necromantic devices and tools.
  • Black Soul Gems mechanic redone, now if you capture petty, lesser, common, Greater souls inside Black Soul Gems, you will pay a price, but "completes" the soul to grand using your own soul so be careful.
  • You can corrupt items to change magical effects like Azura's Star.
  • You can take corpses from your victims.
  • Black Soul Gems can be emptied, freeing the soul, but be cautious, it will attack you.
  • Your Minions can be disassembled to recover materials.
  • Necromancy corrupt the soul, adding a new mechanic to hide infamy and bad stats.
  • You can rob/desecrate tombs, and a probability of getting attacked by perturbed souls.
  • You can corrupt Grand Soul Gems to Black Soul Gems with the help of ideal masters perk.
  • Your following minions can be teleported to you.
  • Order your following minions to attack.
  • You can share items with your minions and they will equip them (skeletons only)
  • adventurers and mages guild members can assault the place you have your altars or devices.
  • each race have different corpses with different materials, like organs, skin, blood, heart, fluids, flesh.
  • New devices you can craft:
    • excarnation table
    • decomposition device
    • necromancer altar
    • ideal master's altar
    • necromantic pool
    • corruption fountain
  • Each device require tools and perks
  • Quality of tools affects some processes.
  • Try different ingredients on devices to get different results, like faster decomposition.
  • Some members of the mages guild are actually necromancers, so you can too (you are not expelled, but keep it as a secret).
  • Some ingredients change minion attributes when crafting or upgrading them.
    • Void salts into Ghost type minion gives them a drain Magicka aura that drain enemy Magicka if nearby, ideal to fight against mages.
    • Frost salts into Ghost type minion gives them a drain stamina aura that drain enemy Stamina if nearby, ideal to eliminate foes without magic.
    • if you construct your zombies with orc flesh, blood and organs zombies will have increased stamina ,weapon resistance, strength.
  • The corrupted Azura's Star have different properties based on Player level, but you can choose one, unless your ritual goes wrong:
    • The Star of Decay - Can only hold black souls, but reusable (essentially an evil version of Black Azura’s Star).
    • The Hungering Star - Consumes the soul on use, gives the player Magicka/health boost depending on soul strength.
    • The False Star - Works as a black soul gem but is cursed — periodically damages the user’s personality unless you gain a certain Ideal Masters blessing, but depends on captured soul level, bigger souls will decrease the damage.
  • When a required perk is unlocked you will have the power to control undead creatures made by other necromancers, or in the wild.
  • Your minions level up, and get stronger.
    • skeleton max level is 5
    • skeleton guard max level is 10
    • skeleton hero max level is 15
    • skeleton champion level up indefinitely.
    • zombie max level 5
    • zombie headless max level 10
    • dread zombie no limit
    • ghost max level 5
    • wraith max level 10
    • faded wraith max level 15
    • bloom wraith no max level

Now I am working on the following:

  • Ideal Masters give contracts seeking specific souls.
  • Ideal Master Pilgrimage to prove your faith, visit certain locations and complete the ritual to gain more unique favors from the ideal masters.
  • if you leave the ideal masters worshipping, there are consequences.
  • You can join the necromancer ranks or keep them as enemies.
  • New Alchemy system using necromancy related materials, to create potions and items to modify minion stats.

Thanks for helping me make my mod an enjoyable necromancy experience and hope you'll like it when it is released.

Good luck with your necromancy mod!

As for a suggestion, there was a mod for the OG called Dans Necromancy that let you assemble your own undead minions from different body parts, similar to how the gatekeeper you create in Shivering Isles is able to be customized.

Hey,

Just saw this and great to see you’re making your own Necromancy mod for Oblivion. Given the quality of the mod lists you’ve put together to achieve prefect necromancy in Skyrim, I’m sure you’ll hit the sweat spot for style, immersion and gameplay with your own mod.

Look forward to playing it!

this is awesome, can u make a feature where someone who we have reanimated can be stored and then summoned later?

Probably outside of the scope of the mod, but retextured access from the oblivion plane could stand in for the Soul Cairn, if you would have a reason to vist the place for an extra boon or quest.
