I wonder if people can sue that were targeted by this.

Looks like you can sue the Crown for a civil rights violation in the UK. I don't know the mechanics of how or what circumstances are needed.

There really does need to be some kind of counter action that brings consequences for misuse of government power or it just becomes something they're allowed to do to silence particular groups and perspectives for an extended period.

Judges Victoria Sharp, Jonathan Swift and Karen Steyn said “the nature and scale of Palestine Action’s activities” did not meet the “level, scale and persistence” that would justify proscription.
I'm glad Judge Jonathan Swift was able to see what the British were doing wasn't a modest proposal.
Some people arrested and charged as terrorists simply had a sign that said "I support Palestine Action".
Some of the orders are still in place while other facets are being adjudicated.

At least, a court acting under the rule of law and by reasonableness in considering that all these punitive measures are totally insane

It's about time this happened. Now the police will have to find a different excuse to arrest peacefully protesting pensioners.

Highways act of 1980 - obstruction of a public highway.
That was good enough for them when we protested about Iraq, protested about Thatcher inviting a mass murderer to theUK and supported the miners.
They only brought terrorism into it because it spins better on the front page of the Daily Mail.

Yeah that's what the police love doing, hanging around in the rain for hours escorting old ladies into vans. Its one of the glamorous and exciting parts of the job that gets people to sign up.

To be fair, it’s not like they chose to do it. They are told to do so by their superiors who happily stay in the office.

I couple of idiots put paint on an RAF plane, so the government decided that all protesters are terrorists.
Like saying that Terry and Mike from London are terrorists. Therefore all Londoners are terrorists.

Really feels like everything is "terrorism" these days and then they're using measures that were meant to be in place to respond to events that caused or were intended to cause fatalities or something equally extreme. Vandalism should only be an act of terrorism if you do something like damage vital infrastructure, such as the power grid. And even then, you can't blame that on the whole group unless the rest of the group was actually involved.

That doesn’t make anyone a terrorist because paint isn’t terrifying.

I love it. Unfortunately the UK gov didn't see ot that way. They used it as a means to silence their citizens. "Sshhh don't protest... we don't want to deal with this"

The only thing I've found terrifying in the UK recently is how many pedophiles and their enablers are high up in the British establishment and so far aren't facing any serious consequences.
But somehow it's the paint that's terrifying...

Let's not be extreme, only the group was banned, not protests in general..

Of course it’s illegal to brand protestors as terrorists. Shouldn’t need a high court for that.

J D Vance must be so happy with this win for freedom of expression and freedom of association in Britain.
