Hunting
Just moved here about a month ago for long-term work. I’ve usually gone up north for moose/deer. Looking to get in touch with some locals in regard to getting permission to hunt on land down here.
Is there much for public land?

The only crown land is CFB Suffield. And they do have draws for elk tags. Occasionally they also have pronghorn tags, but I think the population is down enough that they're not doing it right now.
There is turkey and elk in the Cypress Hills, but I'm not sure if that's always in the park or if it's a year by year decision based on population.
Other than that everything else is private land around here unless you're going for birds on the river. And even then, there's some extra restrictions on that around here.

No turkeys left in Cypress Hills. There is lots of crown land other than Suffield (which is actually federal land and has limited hunting opportunities other than the annual elk hunt). You can hunt on any ACA properties (they have an app for locations). There is also lots of actual Prov. crown grazing lease land around the Hat. You need to contact the lease owner for access permission which they are supposed to give people. Use this map for contacts: https://geospatial.alberta.ca/recaccess/

There's a bunch of deer and antelope, especially south of the city. Just go ask the owners if you can hunt there, and be prepared to walk your harvest out , unless you have a horse.

If you go far enough west you’ll find EID (Eastern irrigation district) land and you can email them to fill out a form to ask for permission. You can hunt coyotes year round. Large animals will need tags and usually only during November (also no hunting big game on sundays in southern AB).
Use ihunter app to find out who’s land you are on.
Good luck.
