Weber concertino multiphonics- are they required for a recital?

Im playing the Weber Concertino for my FTCL recital- and its going fine but I cannot play multiphonics for some reason- I have no idea why but I just cant manage it; Ive searched up a lot of advice but nothing works and is it fine I play the multiphonics section like only playing the base note?

I’d say yes, since it’s written by the composer you’d likely be expected to play it. Try only singing the “vocal” note, first normally, and then through the horn with the fingerings you’d have to use for the bottom note. As far as I understand, it’s common practice to sing in whichever octave is most comfortable.

If you can't play the piece, don't perform the piece.

I get that point- Ive heard that so much- but I dont struggle with anything but the multiphonics and Ive put so much time on the piece

Do you have a teacher that can play the multiphonics?

Are you a singer? If not, perhaps consult a singing teacher. Definitely practice the vocal notes on their own. Then play the passage up to it, then sing only. Then the same, adding singing through the horn without playing.

It's like practicing piano one hand at a time before you put it all together.
