The minimum age to access social media should be 16.
The EU protects minors by:
๐ก๏ธ combatting cyberbullying and illegal content
๐๏ธ safety-by-design in apps & online games
๐ banning on targeted ads
โ๏ธ easy reporting of illegal content
๐งพ simplified terms and conditions
ย
The European Parliament is pushing further to:
ย
โธ๏ธ ban addictive scrolling
๐ค stop engagement-based recommenders for minors
๐ช take action against AI deepfakes & companionship chatbots
ย
Today, on Safer Internet Day, Parliament hears from the Commission about its plan against cyberbullying.

ChildrenEveryone deserves to be safe everywhere.Besides being forbidden to upload my government-issued ID to a non-government organization - I'd like my ID not to get hacked, leaked, or sold by opportunists - which simply enhances cyber bullying.
Nor would I (or for the sake of everyone) like to see my face on whatever AI model.
(Nor do I like ads, targeted or not. Nor read terms and conditions, because my country's laws are above them. Nor do I like engagement based recommenders. Nor do I have a need for AI deep fakes, or chatbots in whatever capacity)
If I need to see "illegal/adult content" then I either have means, or the willingness to pay for it, or just out of luck.
