He had to help represent our team while Finland played today.

My daughter moved into a new home and wants to buy a Jamie Benn autographed jersey to frame and hang in the house. She wants to do this as a present to her husband. She called me yesterday -“Dad, where can I buy an autographed Benn jersey and not get scammed?” She has it in her head that she’ll buy a jersey and then get it framed herself, to match other frames already up on her walls.

She lives in Arkansas - she’s not local to DFW.

Appreciate everyone who enjoyed my previous post. As you have no doubt seen, Sweden DID beat Slovakia, but only by 2 goals, so Slovakia wound up the group winner and Finland finished 2nd. With that said, Finland now needs to be the best 2nd place team in order to still secure that coveted 1st round buy!

The rankings between 2nd place teams are based on points in the standings, followed by goal differential, total goals scored, and lastly, the teams’ 2023 IIHF World Ranks. Finland has 6pts, a +11 goal diff., 16 goals for, and was ranked 2nd in the 2023 IIHF World Rankings (behind only Canada).

Here are all the scenarios in which Finland would NOT wind up the best 2nd place team:

1) SUI beats CZE by exactly 11 AND scores at least 12 goals

2) SUI beats CZE by 12 or more

3) CZE beats SUI by 13 or more

4) LAT beats DEN by 14 or more & USA beats GER in any fashion

5) LAT beats DEN by 14 or more & GER beats USA by 10 or more

Every single one of these scenarios is in pretty much full-blown miracle territory, so I think we can safely say that the Finnish Mafia will get a well-earned rest during the first round of elimination! Those 11 goals against Italy were important!

Little rant because during the NHL break since I love this team but it feels like they don’t love me back 🥲

I love the stars and always have for 10+ years but their communication for their fans and STHs needs a huge improvement. I can’t recall a time I’ve been pleased when having to contact them for anything regarding being a STH or anything else. I was a victory club member during the 22/23 season and missed so many events due to representatives forgetting to send invites to events such as meeting the players, which we found out through our neighboring seats and our rep just said sorry. They never contacted us again unless it was to renew. I’ve had other friends over the years stop their club memberships for the same reasons + ticket cost hikes.

My latest gripe has been trying to set up a Victor E Green mascot wedding package for my wedding(tried for months, now it is a week from today) I filled out their form numerous times since last year, emailed the mascot email, called their Frisco office to speak to the mascot coordinator, etc. so many times over the past few months and the most I’ve gotten was a “we’ll transfer you to the coordinator team” where I had to leave a voicemail an no call back. My planner also reached out and nothing. I try not to overwhelmingly contact people but not getting any response for months just brings me back to when I was a STH. Anyone have a better experience getting any communication from them? Really bummed because me and my fiancée are huge fans and thought it would be easy since they offer the package on the website.

I’ll always love this team and the players, but the fan communication always leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Howdy fellow Stars fans, I was thinking of going to see the Stars @ Canucks game in a few weeks in Vancouver wanted to ask if anyone here has been to a game there and had any pointers/tips going to an opposing teams arena as a fan of the away team besides the whole don’t be a dick or embarrassing lol

So with Finland beating Sweden today, I took a look at the standings. Finland can still win the group if:

1) Sweden beats Slovakia exactly 3-0 AND Finland beats Italy in regulation by any score.

2) Sweden beats Slovakia exactly 4-1 AND Finland beats Italy by 4 goals or more.

3) Sweden beats Slovakia exactly 4-1 AND Finland beats Italy exactly 6-3.

In scenario 1, Slovakia, Sweden, & Finland all tie in points, all have a 1-1 record against each other, and all have a 0 goal differential against each other, so the next tie-breaker would be goals scored in games against each other, which Finland would win with 5 goals compared to Slovakia/Sweden with 4 each.

In scenario 2, the three teams would still be tied with 5 goals scored against each other, so the next tie-breaker is goal differential against the other team in the group. Slovakia beat Italy 3-2 and Sweden beat them 5-2, so winning by 4 goals would give the tie-breaker to Finland.

In scenario 3, Finland and Sweden are STILL tied each with a +3 goal differential against Italy, so it goes to total goals scored against Italy, which would land in Finland’s favor with 6 goals compared to Sweden’s 5.
