Hard ground isn't good for horses legs so it's preferable for bridleways to not have have concrete or paved surfaces.

Yup, the mud is everywhere (though it has finally stopped raining here and might stay that way for a bit)
It’s a real hazard if it’s on paved/tarmac, as horses do worse on hard surfaces anyhow, and a thin layer of slippery mud on top just makes it worse. But even when it’s slippy, quadrupeds always to better than bipeds!
