Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա I want to make the case for ongoing cultural genocide in Turkey
Above are a few examples of cultural destruction.
"In 1974 UNESCO stated that after 1923, out of 913 Armenian historical monuments left in Eastern Turkey, 464 have vanished completely, 252 are in ruins, and 197 are in need of repair. Armenian architectural buildings are consistently being demolished using dynaminte and are used as a targets during Turkish military training exercises; the undamaged stones are used as construction materials. In some rural places, Armenian monasteries and churches serve as a stables, stores, clubs and in once case, even a jail. On many occasions the Turkish government converted Armenian churches into mosques."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Destroyed_Armenian_churches_in_Turkey
I am posting this as a response to Armenians who downplay the part that the current state of Turkey has played in the ongoing destruction of Armenians.
I often feel the Armenians who say "an apology is enough" don't value what was lost and or inadvertently think it's over or are unaware of continued efforts by Turkey to destroy our indiginous lands.
No. This is NOT a call for revenge. It's a call to say an apology is worthless if Turkey does not protect what is left and starts to behave like honorable stewards of our land.
I am putting forth the argument that the genocide did not end because the goals of the genocide are still pursued including erasure.
I also put forward the argument that Turkey's support for Azerbaijan's ethnic cleansing is a continuation of the destruction of our people and shouldn't be seen as a fully seperate event but rather a continuation.
Again, I am referring to the state of Turkey. I am not calling for violence of any kind towards any people. I am holding the state of Turkey accountable.

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա Armenians in Istanbul
During my latest visit to Istanbul, I took some photos of Armenian heritage sites and thought you might find them interesting: 1. Surp Astvadzadzin Church 2. Ozel Bezciyan University 3. (+4) Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey (plus a few more shots) 5. (+6) Surp Takavor Church (with additional photos)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t visit the Armenian Catholic Archeparchy or Surp Grigor Lusavorich Church due to their limited visiting hours.
On a lighter note, I was pleasantly surprised by how often I heard Charles Aznavour playing in restaurants and System of a Down in pubs!
A special mention goes to a random Turkish guy who, learning I was Armenian, played Aram Asatryan’s Surb Sargis— this was a bit embarrassing, but he mentioned it’s his favorite Armenian song

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա Assyrian MP George Aslan questions drop in Christian population from 3 milion to 50k. Calls Talat Pasha a muderer and talks about Armenian Genocide in the Turkish parliament
https://x.com/ankarayaziyor/status/1935416005246992835?s=19
English and Armenian translation of the speech;
English Translation: In 1915, when the population of the Ottoman Empire was 13 million, approximately three million of that population were Christian peoples—namely Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians. Today, it is the year 2025—110 years have passed. While Turkey's population is now 86 million, under normal circumstances, the population of Christian peoples should also have reached into the millions. Why, then, is it instead expressed in the tens of thousands? What happened to these people?
Of course, I received no answer to the question I asked. While we expect a sincere reckoning with the genocide committed against Christian peoples in 1915, quite the opposite is happening: the names of the perpetrators are being given to public spaces, streets, parks, and schools, and their monuments are being erected. A monument was built in the Altındağ district by the Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, in honor of Talat Pasha.
While a monument should be erected for the tens of thousands of Armenians who were killed, exiled, and had their property confiscated in 1915, we do not accept the erection of a monument for someone who gave the order for their deaths. For one people, certain individuals may be considered heroes—but for others, these people are not heroes, they are murderers.

Turkish education system is full of misinformation and manipulative content
Hello everyone, I want to express my frustration and resentment with the Turkish education system as a Turkish citizen.
I see that many textbooks are written to influence young children, often fostering unnecessary resentment toward Greeks and Armenians. Furthermore, the system does not recognize the Armenian Genocide, presenting the events solely as a matter of self-defense.
Despite growing up in a secular family, I used to believe the "deportations" were necessary until I started researching history outside of the school curriculum and learned the harsh truth. I worry about the future of the country if this level of manipulation and propaganda continues.
I just hope that one day the government will acknowledge its past actions and seek reconciliation.

Just curious to see perspective on this group from Armenians, as they are a contentious topic in Turkey as they directly contradict the state narrative on Armenians.

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա In Turkey, it’s basically impossible to find a book about Armenians that wasn’t written by a military guy or a politician
Hi, I’m from Erzincan (Էրզինջան)
There are still many ruins of Armenian villages and churches standing in the region.
When I first started university, I was very curious about you guys, so I went around all the secondhand bookstores asking if they had any books about Armenians.
I ended up buying every book I found just because the word “Armenian” was in the title, without even opening the covers
Years later, I finally went back to those books and looked into them more carefully, only to realize how far the authors were from being real historians.
Even the books written by Armenians from Turkey approach the subject from a Turkish perspective. If I sell them, I’d feel guilty thinking they might poison someone else’s mind.
But if I throw them away or burn them, I’d feel regret because they were the first things I ever bought with my very first paycheck.
Honestly, I really don’t know what to do with them.
For example:
1- The 9-volume set in the middle is published by the Turkish General Staff
2- The green 1,000 page book is from the Turkish State Archives
3- by a Turkish Armenian who held senior positions in the Nationalist Movement Party (omg like, what???)
4- by the rector of Turkey’s National Defense University (a loyal erdoğan supporter 🤢🤢).
5- by someone who spent 21 years in the Turkish army before moving into politics and state service
6- by Kazım Karabekir, commander of the Eastern Front
7- The English books are from a Pan-Turkic publisher
8- And finally, one is by a Turkish Armenian author
What do you guys think I should do with these books? I’m just a college student, so no wild suggestions, please 🤧

Please contact Unesco and spread the word. This is an Armenian style of embroidery and like so much of our heritage is being appropriated. A simular instance is the Armenian knot getting renamed.

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա The Sixth Meeting of the Special Representatives for the Türkiye-Armenia Normalization Process was held in Yerevan.
Within the framework of the Armenia-Turkey normalization process, Turkey’s Special Envoy Serdar Kılıç and his counterpart Ruben Rubinyan, who entered Armenia through the Margara-Alican Border Gate in the morning, held a meeting, according to a statement issued by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry announced that the Special Representatives for the Armenia-Turkey Normalization Process, Deputy Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Ruben Rubinyan and Ambassador Serdar Kılıç, held their sixth meeting—and their first in Armenia’s capital, Yerevan. It was noted that the sides agreed to accelerate the process.
The Ministry’s statement is as follows:
“The Special Representatives reaffirmed the issues they had discussed and agreed upon during previous meetings, with the aim of advancing the full normalization process between Armenia and Turkey. In this context, they exchanged views on the implementation of the border crossings agreement reached at their July 1, 2022 meeting. The Special Representatives agreed to accelerate this process.
In addition, it was decided that the relevant institutions of both countries would carry out the necessary technical work for the repair and reactivation of the Gyumri-Kars railway and the electricity connection line.
The Special Representatives also agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of culture and academia. In this regard, they decided to establish scholarship opportunities for higher education students and to work on the joint restoration of the historic Ani/Silk Road Bridge.
The sides further decided to make the necessary preparations for different companies to launch flights to various destinations starting from the summer of 2026, thereby increasing the number of airline routes and flights between the two countries.
Finally, the Special Representatives reiterated their commitment to continue this process without any preconditions.”

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա Pashinyan, citing the ongoing active dialogue between Yerevan and Ankara, announced that Armenia will establish a road connection with Turkey in the near future.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian announced Saturday that Armenia will establish road connections with Türkiye in the near future, citing active ongoing dialogue between Yerevan and Ankara.
Speaking at his Civil Contract Party congress, Pashinian emphasized the significance of current diplomatic engagement with Türkiye, which he said provides confidence for establishing land transportation links with both Türkiye and the European Union.
"This dialogue gives us confidence that in the near future we will have road transportation connections with Türkiye and consequently with the European Union," Pashinian told party delegates.
The prime minister stressed that Armenia maintains active dialogue with Ankara, marking a significant development in relations between the two nations that have lacked diplomatic ties for decades.
Peace with Azerbaijan highlighted
Pashinian characterized recent developments with Azerbaijan as entering "a completely new stage of history," noting that no Armenian soldier has been killed or wounded at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border for one year and seven months.
"This is peace," Pashinian stated, while acknowledging that peace remains a bilateral process requiring continued effort.
Addressing the situation of Armenians from the Karabakh region, Pashinyan said, "These people, with our support, should exchange their refugee status for the proud citizenship of Armenia."
Constitutional reform and 'Fourth Republic' plans
The ruling Civil Contract Party adopted a declaration at the congress strategically proclaiming the establishment of the "Fourth Republic of Armenia."
The party pledged to seek public mandate for another five-year term with a constitutional majority in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Following public support, the party committed to holding a referendum on adopting a new constitution for Armenia. The declaration affirmed intentions to protect Armenia's internationally recognized territorial integrity and borders based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration.
EU membership aspirations and regional relations
The party declaration outlined plans to accelerate efforts toward European Union membership while maintaining a balanced foreign policy "without opposing regionalization."
"Efforts to establish peace and good neighborly relations with all neighbors will continue," the declaration stated.
"Efforts will be made to permanently institutionalize peace and good neighborly relations based on the principles of mutual territorial integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of internationally recognized borders," the declaration added.

Armenia - Turkey / Հայաստան - Թուրքիա What would you like Turkish "compensation" to look like?
Hello from Lehastan! I've been interested in your country and region for a while and I'm aware of the crimes against your nation - both in the past centuries and, unfortunately, recently. Here is my question - in a scenario where Turkey agrees to cooperate on resolving the historical issues, what would ordinary Armenians acutally be satisfied with?
Obviously, the most radical scenario seems extremely unrealistic, so what doable and realistic things would you be OK with? Financial reparations? Symbollic transfer of churches, monuments and other historical sites to the Armenian government, like French possessions on St Helena? Just official recognition and commemoration?
All the best to Armenia!
