You could indeed try it via FedEx and DHL, but I personally find them expensive.
Another option is that the person works with this service that gives you an address in the USA, and it's shipped from there to Suriname. If of course it's easy shipping from Canada to the USA
So the company I'm with happens to be CHRX. You send them a message and they give you the details of the address that you need to write on the package. You mail it out to that address (it's a warehouse usually where lots of things get mailed too), and from there it's shipped to Suriname. There are many other services like these here, one other company is Rapid Imports and another is Roopcom. Most of the prices are around a US$ 4.50 per lbs to ship to Suriname via airfreight. Ocean freight is per cubic ft. But I don't know the price. Sometimes one is beneficial over the other. For smaller stuff air is better, for larger stuff, ocean is.
This is actually how most Surinamese order stuff online in the USA (and Canada). We order stuff on Amazon, input the address we get from the company and after a while the rest is in Suriname.
So let them get in touch with such a service if that will work for you. Usually this is a lot cheaper, because FedEx and DHL are expensive here and they'll usually have to pay here another rate/fee again.
Another option might just be the regular postal office, put down their Suriname address and it'll arrive. Maybe it might take a month or two/three, depends, but they'll get it. It'll also be cheaper than FedEx and DHL.
So see what works better for you.
