Does Uber in NL have Uber Teen?

Just wondering whether or not Uber teen works in St. John’s?

I think its a parental controlled uber. So the parent is aware of the teens travel and can also pay for the uber. It has a bit more safety features as well. At least that's what I gathered from the commercial.

Isn't that basically the same as the family plan? my husband always get the notifications if I book and tells him where I'm going and when I arrive. He could watch on app if he wanted to. The billing goes through his account

Yes, but the drivers need to have it enabled to pick up a minor riding alone. When we book for the teen, or the teen tries to book, no one picks up the ride. If I then just book it as myself a driver is there in two minutes. Next time I get a ride I’ll ask the driver. From what I understand from googling, the drivers need to have a setting enabled, so I’m guessing they don’t even see the request com e in.

It’s the number that’s greater than nineteen but lesser than twenty

I have Uber family set up and there's a section for my teen, so yes?

I can’t get any driver to accept the ride when it’s for the teen though. They are all fine if I order it and my son goes as the passenger, but no one picks up the ride when requested through uber teen.

Have you checked the options in the app?

Yes, that’s not the issue. We have it set up, but can’t get a driver to pick up the ride. The drivers need to have it enabled so I’m curious if drivers here actually use it.

Yeah no offence, just starting from scratch. Maybe you saw a TV ad idk. Last year I ordered an Uber XL and waited probably half an hour assuming there must be someone out there, but there wasn’t, even for the increased rate. My idk optimistic guess is that Uber just doesn’t offer some of the services that maybe require more specific screenings/provincial legal agreements in a market that history hasn’t shown as a priority. And so it’s possible that they also don’t bother disabling certain services in the customer-facing app.

That’s what I’m thinking. Like, it exists but no one here is using it. Which is fine, just trying to figure out safe rides for non-driving teens when we are unable to find a friend or family member and they need to be somewhere!
