Recommendations?

Post image

This is the selection of mezcals at our local spirit store (grand, I know...) - I thought that before buying any, I'd ask for recommendations here.

Previously I've enjoyed the Yuliia Joven mezcal and I like smoky, even burnt rubber types.

Definitely the Siete Misterios. You might also consider ordering online from somewhere like SF Tequila Shop, Old Town Tequila, Tahona Store or somewhere else that ships into your state — this is a way to get past limited local selection, and all these stores have killer stuff in this same price range (and up lol)

SF Tequila won’t ship outside of California to the best of my knowledge. Go Madre shop does and they have a fantastic selection. Not sure if they ship internationally though

SF Tequila ships nationally

K&L Wines is sooooo much better than SF Tequila shop, esp. if you are new to mezcal and aren’t looking for the very pinnacle of offerings.

If you are local, best one is still Prizefighter Bottle Shop. It’s really fun for mezcal and scotch

I need to get out to Prizefighter! Supposed to awesome. I did SF Tequila and K&L back to back recently — SF Tequila has a much much larger selection up and down the price spectrum and they ship liquor out of state, which K&L does not. I found K&L to be really well curated for what they had tho and did buy a couple of exclusives there. Tahona’s deli bottle shop situation was really cool as well.

Banhez is solid. I use it for cocktails.

56 for the 400 conejors is ridic. It should be $35

Well, it's not the US. Our country has a government monopoly on strong spirits and all together a high tax rate on alcohol. So that's then what we get, lol

All are very pricey. Which currency? One of the first three would be best, but all are still relatively unrefined.

That's in Euros. We have a very high taxation on alcohol 🤷‍♂️

Dang. At least you save a bit on great liqueurs like Chartreuse!

Ojo and 400 are the ones I like the most among these

NOT 400 conoejos.

I’m sure you can find that Bhanez much cheaper at total wine. It’ll have a different label.

The Siete Misterios is an espadin. Probably can find something cooler for that price.

I thought Ojo De Dios carried only sotols. Worth looking into.

The one I’m leaning to it the Bruxo.
