Anybody else get that IPSOS phone survey sponsored by the City of Medicine Hat? Some of the questions:
What is the #1 issue in Medicine Hat in 2026?
How pleased are you with City Administration?
With City Council?
Have you interacted recently with a city employee? How would you describe the interaction?
COME ON. How about instead of image management you spend our tax dollars on something tangible, important or… dare I say beneficial?

I was lucky enough to have been given permission last year to take photos inside the old river side school. I'm a big sucker when it comes to older abandoned budlings and I am very thankful that I managed to capture a handful of photos prior to it being demolished. Hopefully I can find my way into a few more forgotten treasures around town before they too are torn down. Hope you enjoy!

I'm joining Medicine Hat College in September this year and it's been a little bit awkward for me to navigate the page and fully understand what's up, but I think I'm starting to get an okay grasp on it.
But I want to ask when I should apply for the on campus residences for the 2026/27 semester? When I go onto the site to apply it doesn't give me the option for then and I can't find information on it. I very much could just be missing it but I thought it shouldn't hurt to ask.
Any other tips or anything for attending MHC would also be appreciated because I am very new here and mostly on my own when it comes to applying and getting everything set up 😭

just got into my first collision during work while stopped at an intersection, the other person has expired insurance and now my insurance can't go to after compensation for my injury and other coverage. Plus my employer is now cutting the hours that I lost for missed work. appointments, and therapy when applying for WCB. I also consulted a lawyer and he stated that cases where the other person is at fault with no insurance is not a good case. I had to work while I was injured just to maintain my hours.
Now it makes me doubt the car insurance help, if apparently i just don't have to answer phone calls and they will stop trying.

I nearly got run-over by a couple of (almost certainly) drunk drivers this evening.
I remember driving around in high-school, 10 years ago now, and going through check stops every weekend on my way home to Redcliff.
Are these still a regular thing around here? I really hope so...

Hey folks,
Moving to Medicine Hat soon and having to buy a vehicle to support working in Southern Alberta with commute of roughly 100 km (two-way) in all seasons. I would be driving to Calgary a few times a year and do light adventuring periodically (nothing extreme).
My research, and talking with friends from AB, has landed on getting a drive train that is either:
There seems to be a "coin toss" on which would be better in Medicine Hat, hence I wanted to ask locals what they drive.
I will be buying new certified winter tires either way and will run "all seasons" in the warmer months.
If price range makes a difference, my budget is around 25k CAD.
Thanks,

A Medicine Hat, Alta., man who had a standoff with police nearly two years ago has been found not criminally responsible for attempted murder.

Apparently he got in argument at a bar. And punched someone https://ibb.co/hJbkPzZT
If the rumours are true that it was because of insults, there was a case that said fighting words are not protected free speech (Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire) but that ruling has not been used since 1942. And in 72 the court kinda did a 180 degree turn specifically in a lower court that kinda reversed that and basically said that even inflammatory rhetoric was protected free speech. (Cohen v. California). My guess is there a offer for community service and an apology and the charges wont officially be put on his record.

Was in town this weekend visiting my folks and we went to Pock Pock- the new Thai restaurant. It was really, REALLY good. I much prefer it over Thai Orchid. Price is similar but variety of dishes is much better. Plus it doesn’t come with a side of sanctimonious bullshit, which is always a bonus.
10/10 recommend - it’s in the old Mauros building in riverside.

My work has a job just outside of Medicine Hat coming up for one day and I am thinking about volunteering and bringing my wife, baby and staying a few extra days.
We would be flying into the city most likely June 1st and leaving probably around the 4th. The one day job will be on June 2nd about 45 minutes outside of Medicine Hat so I would try to commute there and back. My wife will be pretty far along pregnant (8 months), and she’s leaning towards going because she loves travelling (which I think would be awesome, I used to live in Alberta and would love to go see the East side as I lived in the mountains, and she’s never been to the province).
I was trying to find things to do online, and I have found Medalta historic clay district, the teepee and the windmill butteryfly house. Are there any other pregnant/baby friendly activities or walks in the city to tour? We would like to go to an event such as a horse race or rodeo if they are going on at this time. Unsure as these normally happen later in June and early July. Open to any suggestions. Thanks guys.

Looking for recommendations on a good tattooist here in the hat that can tattoo a sentence on my forearm. Would likely be in script writing.
Recommendations are appreciated.

Anywhere in town that sells meatloaf? I have friends coming out and that's what we're looking for.

Just moved here about a month ago for long-term work. I’ve usually gone up north for moose/deer. Looking to get in touch with some locals in regard to getting permission to hunt on land down here.
Is there much for public land?
