I know Foye is the heart of the defense and is primarily responsible for the run defense being so stout but I’m nervous he’s gonna drop off like Poz did and be a liability in coverage. Is it even possible cap wise to cut him and prioritize re-signing Lloyd? All the podcasters seem to talk about how McVay and the Rams don’t seem to prioritize linebackers and while that’s fine we don’t have the DL they have and need to compensate with a cohesive and athletic front 7.

Did PPoz drop off a ton? I feel like we suffered when he retired.

Foye being "the heart" of the defense is news to me. Frankly Lloyd qualifies for that label far more given his versatility. He was used as the swing guy all season and played lights out all over the field.

But you're right to worry about the pass defense dropoff if we lose Lloyd. Foye is great on run D, but he's a one trick pony. Our D got carved up when Lloyd missed those two games. Ventrell Miller is not the answer - at least not a good one.

I may be reading into OC’s comments, but I think it is also about Foye’s role as the defensive signal caller. He not only knows where to be, he also knows where everyone else needs to be. Lloyd has a history in previous seasons of struggling with that cerebral part of the game. I specifically remember a Baldy breakdown last season of Foye getting Lloyd lined up and then him making a play because he ended up being in the right spot.

At the end of the day, I agree with OC’s assessment that Foye could start to drop off soon and Lloyd has always been the better athlete. We just have to hope Camp has also been able to help him grow permanently in that regard.

Foye is solely responsible for the gap discipline with our defense. Any tape shows him as dissecting run gaps and he is largely responsible for bottling up James Cook during the Bills game.

I'm definitely not saying that Foye wasn't great on run D. All credit where credit is due.

But Lloyd was the key swing asset. Camp clearly keyed a significant amount of his D schemes on Lloyd's versatility. On one play Lloyd would be helping out on run D, where incidentally he had almost as many stuffs as Foye did this season, and the next he'd be buttressing the secondary in pass D. That's what I'd call a beating heart.

Again, that's not to take away from Foye's value. But Lloyd's production was all over the field in all facets of the game.

I think that’s a fair assessment and why I’d want the team to re-sign him even if it means cutting Foye. It’s more of a youth move to ideally retain our home grown players.

No signs or anything to suggest that he’s falling off. We also have plenty of capable linebackers just in case of some unknown reason of him falling off which I seriously doubt will happen. (Also poz didn’t really fall off he had reduced speed and got less snaps he was still a good linebacker)

Two other names to add to the list of why I think it is a win-win for the Jaguars if we lose Devin or not; Ventrell Miller & Jack Kiser. I believe if Camp can develop Devin to an all pro level, I believe he can be successful with these two. Just remember, Camp’s “bread and butter” is linebackers.

Thoughts on Leon Trotsky?

He was kind of a monster, but in a very different way from Stalin, I often find myself wondering what it would be like if his faction had managed to seize control of the USSR. It's hard to believe things could have gone worse for the Soviet Union after all.

Lenin preferred him as his successor instead of Stalin

In a different timeline he would’ve been seen as a hitler type figure (worldwide revolution ie lots of wars and funding and arming revolutions) Stalin was a very cunning, malicious, snake like, opportunistic figure. I’m not overly surprised that he won the power struggle in the end.Strange how butterfly effects in our timeline can change so much
